    You're teaching style and passion for teaching is the best I've encountered. I've been playing for years now, and just figured this out in the last year. Looking forward to focusing on these techniques in my practice routine!
    You hammered home the points perfectly as usual. Thanks for the hard work you do!

    Hi Cory, Love your lessons, because they don’t feel like lessons, it feels like my buddy is showing me some of his stuff that I can steal and make my own. Please keep them coming.

    I have been trying to figure out soloing for 4 years. You are the first to focus on the timing!! Great Stuff!

  • @JohnOhkumaThiel
    @JohnOhkumaThiel Před rokem

    I think the problem most people run into is, they know the licks, but they don't know how to solo. To me, the two most important elements of a solo are that it reflect the main statement of the tune--the melody--and 'playing the changes.' Otherwise it's out of context unless the tune is there to accompany the solo as in SRV's music, where the music is dead simple, almost a blank canvas, simply meant to support the solo as the true lead.
    On feel, you hit an essential point that confused me as a kid, which is time signature. Are we playing in 4/4 or 12/8 for example. The answer is both, depending on the phrase. 12/8 is basically a triplet feel in 4/4, but they're interchangable.
    I love how you basically say we don't need to master theory to get where we want in our playing.

    Gas-X pills work for those fart issues as well, C.C.!! Cool 'economy' of licks lesson here along with that all vital timing deal.....coordinating playing some cool smaller blues chords along with parts of this lick idea!! I've heard several worthy guitar instructors remind us that the late great Albert 'Iceman' Collins supposedly knew only 3 licks but just knew how to best exploit these and expand into a legendary career......as we often waste time trying to memorize 100s of licks. Another fantastic Nashville Saturday lesson!! Thanks buddy!! Jim C.
