  • In this video you will learn how can to hem chiffon on regular sewing machine with easy. See two ways of hemming lightweight fabrics on my website.
In this video, I will show you how to hem chiffon on a regular sewing machine.
For bending thin fabrics on the sewing machine, use thin, elastic and durable threads.
For hemming thin fabric on the sewing machine, use thin, elastic and strong threads.
Set the upper thread tension disc to a position between 2 and 3 and do trial sewing on the chiffon fabric.
Cut a narrow strip of fabric that you will hem. Fold it in half as shown in this video and make test stitching.
You may need to change not only thread tension but and the stitch length. To hem chiffon makes the stitch denser.
The tension of both threads in the stitch is correct, the stitch length is average. Now you can to hem your skirt or dress sewn from thin fabric.
But before hemming on sewing machine, you definitely need to iron the hem about 5 mm on the wrong side of your clothes.
Now you need to sew this hem on the sewing machine. Try to stitch as close as possible to the folded edge (1.5 - 2mm).
To make it easier to do the initial stitches, pull these threads slightly away from you.
I hope you made the first stitch line perfectly. Now we need to make one more line.
But first you need to trim off the excess fabric under stitch line as shown in the video.
Now fold the edge of the fabric to the wrong side and make another stitch near or directly along the first stitch line.
To make it easier to do the initial stitches, pull these threads slightly away from you.
From the wrong side the fabric there will be two lines. On the front side of the skirt or dress will be one stitch line.
Now the hem chiffon fabric is finished and you can iron the hem.

My aunt used to work for a very famous fashion designer in the philippines. She made my sister's chiffon gown for her debut. She was able to do the 2 fold hem with one stitch line. I still can't figure out how she was able to do that.

Hi, thank you! Both methods are great, very neatly done! But please, could you advise on what sort of needle to use? Thin universal, microtex? I always have doubts on which one to go for.
    Best regards,
    Rosa

We will solve this problem, but there are difficulties. A person, for example, has no voice, or he is shy, stutters, etc. But he knows his business well and wants to share his knowledge with other people. How to do it? Please advise.

@@sewway The voice is fine. I assumed there was a language or speech disability that kept the person from speaking. I have learning disabilities and often have to have these electronic voices help me.

Hi! I'm not an expert on this but I know there are very good text to voice options today that don't sound nearly as robotic so you can probably find a good one for you if you want to!

It's adjusting and getting the tension right that I can't grasp. It never works. I don't have a Janome so I don't understand what you're adjusting to.
