    It's due to a mixed combo of the failed economic policy and shortsighted immigration policy. The fact that nurses, caretakers, and construction workers are in shortage is not because there are no labor available, but because the working conditions and salaries are too bad. But the government keeps bringing in nurses, caretakers, and workers through so-called "category draws," and as soon as these folks come in as permanent residents, they change their jobs. Result--labor shortage is not resolved, population explodes, which further deteriorates the housing market and affordability.

      Salaries are actually fine. The problem is that the cost of living (mainly housing) has risen to unreasonable levels because of government policy of intentionally not building enough homes.
      It's tempting to blame employers for this. But if they could profitably raise salaries they would. The government's housing bubble hurts everyone.

      @@WillieFungo You are right. I am not saying developed world is privileged, I am saying exactly the opposite, I am saying that privilege is not perfectly correlated to the exact GDP and stock market growth. But what I am also saying is that Canada specifically is privileged, regardless of their economic metrics. And I do not believe it is in an apocalyptic decline just because of slight underperformance. It has so far to fall and it is not looking like it's headed that way just because of a bump in the road.

      @@kevinmckenziee OK, I shall make this as simple as possible. Just go by and honestly report the per capita numbers of immigrants to Canada. That would be legal immigration as we also have problems with illegal immigrants. We reached 40 million by Q4 last year and by end of Q1 2024 41 million, was one million more. And that represents legal and approved immigrants. Why do they come to Canada if its so bad? I'm rather curious about your answer.

    • @kevinmckenziee
      @kevinmckenziee  Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@comaca so your argument is because we’re getting a lot of immigrants that means that Canada is not going downhill?
      That makes no sense. Look at the data, quality of life is declining. We’re dropping ranking fast. The crazy number of new immigrants are contributing to the decline as well. It’s been done way too fast. Also, immigrants are also using Canada as a transit point it’s called onward migration and this is higher than ever.
      Also, if Canada was so bad why would they move here? Well their countries are often even worse! That does not mean that Canada is good.
