Now this is what you call an epic video, very still, HD, with the train even slowing down to give a good thrash! This is THE definition of a train video! Like + Fav mate keep it up!
Day setting. Secondman Side Headlight/Drivers side marker. Night Setting: Secondman Side Marker/Drivers side Headlight. Night setting to avoid dazzling oncoming drivers but also provides extra lighting to lineside signs. However lights and tailights on trains are there for the train to be seen as complete and not split in traffic.
Thats the daylight running lights, when its dark, the left is brightest and is the night mode to light up the left side, so as to illuminate trackside signs on the left whilst also not blinding the drivers of other trains approaching from the other way.
These sound a little bit like the old Valenta HSTs you guys used to have. The ones that used to scream on departure all the time. Those also used to sound similar to VIA Rail Canada's LRC Locomotives (except those had the ALCO 251 Prime Mover). Built by General Electric, right here in the U.S.A. (Erie, Pennsylvania).
@HSTHoward so much for modern stuff being cleaner for the air! bloody GE, in america, many regard GE stuff as very poor especially compared to EMD/GM stuff.
Manages the spectacular feat of making the class 66s look rather attractive and the class 90s, a vision of clean flowing loveliness!!! I wonder how many attempts it took for them to come up with something so ghastly looking!? The livery doesn't help either. Plus they are not even British. Take them away!
Can't get enough of those 70s. Lovely.
Amazing work
I friken love 70s with a vengeance

@class66arecool Because (not being big headed) i have a massive knowledge of the railways
Do you use a freight timetable for these? Or is there a free option to work freight runs + headcodes etc? great vid btw!
Ruddy hell they're weird looking, haven't got them around here!
Correct sir
Wicked
@RailwaySeriesKB I love them

@BritishTrainVideos cheers
@HSTHoward but what does the headcode mean?
Nice vid by the way..
@tpvalley Thank you, and oh dear!
@HSTHoward
I ask this, will the class 70 last as well as say the class 37?
If there was an ugly train competition,this wins it by a million miles.
Who in f...s name designed that?
DIRE
@40022laconia Couldnt agree more
@Trilton Cheers, 70013 - 70016 due next week.
@cmeonthemove Plenty to see
So much for Tier III emissions....
Clag??? All diesels make a little smoke when under load. This is not "blot the Sun out" type of smoke when I hear/see the word "Clag"
@tpvalley Hope so
Not sure, aslong as a main beam is on thats all that matters?
Is it me or do they look a bit like a Reliant Regal Supervan ?
Chuck Norris's model railway.
why are train lights odd in england?
And i thought that class 50's were ugly!
@RailwaySeriesKB Nope, hellfire monsters.
Miles better than some shitty shed
Panosonic TM60 i think
