  • NORDIC ICE SKATING | on the Frozen Lakes of Jokkmokk Sweden Lapland
    Our season for Nordic ice skating is very short in Jokkmokk. It’s the short period when the ice is thick (safe) enough and before the snow comes. Some years we do not get to take on our ice skates at all because we don’t get any ice-skating season at all because the snow arrives before the ice is thick enough. But, 2020 was a great year for Nordic ice skating in Jokkmokk.
    We are privileged to live just next to a beautiful lake and we have had many days of good ice-skating conditions.
    In this short video you will get some glimpse from some of the ice skating tours we done on the frozen lakes of Jokkmokk.
    On one of the tours our friend Christian followed. Christian is not only our friend but also our neighbor and colleague who also live and work as a guide. He run his company Laponia Adventures together with Mirja, another friend of us.

    That looked nice, great environment for such skating, with the large lakes and forests around. Also. Just 10 out of 10 points for that pancake flip. Cooking acrobatics, I must admit. :o) Nice day, as usual!

    Hi there!
    I love the video and the music you chose! And: where can I get these boots and ice skates?
    Would love to join you soon!
    Cheers from northern Germany!

    • @JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA
      @JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA  Před 3 lety +1

      Stina and I always discuss what music we should choose. I have my ideas and she have her ideas. 🤣
      The music in this video... hmmm... really?!?!? Stina picked this... PLEAS... don't tell her that you like this... 😂😬😯😂
      The skates and the shoes. The shoes are made for skiing. X-contry skiing and little bit mor stable for skating with skies. The ice-skates are long distance touring ice skates. Then we prefere to use a binding with free heel. That's faster... 😀
      You will be able to use the same shoes for skiing if you want. :-)

    Awesome video! Thank you for sharing! The pancake flip was very impressive. I would be so scared to skate on such a mirror of black ice specially if there is water on it. What was the temperature? And ice thickness ? Here I usually skate on a pond when it is around - 7 C and ice of more than 50 mms mainly on shallow water. I am a big chicken. How about you?

    • @JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA
      @JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA  Před 3 lety

      Happy you for watching! The ice was average 10cm thick at that time. We got some warmer temperatures and rain the day before that's why we had water on the ice. We are very careful with ices. 😊 /Stina

    Tack för en fin liten film. Hur ser bokningsläget ut nu jämfört med förra året? Kan tänka mig rätt dramatisk skillnad i er bransch....

    • @JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA
      @JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA  Před 3 lety

      Tack!
      Bokningsläget... Ja... För våra längre turer/expeditioner ser det ganska okej ut. Sedan så vet man ju inte hur det blir i slutändan med möjligheter för folk att få resa men vi har en betydande andel svenska gäster och det är ju bättre ett år som i år.
      För de korta turerna ser det betydligt mörkare ut. Det handlar om närmare en halv miljon kronor som bara är borta ur kalendern. Stora summor för ett litet företag som oss. Dessutom motsvarar det en betydande del av körningarna för en kollega som brukar hjälpa oss med sina hundar.
      Därför har vi börjat hårdare med denna YT kanal. Vi har dels tid över och dels är detta en möjlighet att visa vad vi gör. Det är också en möjlighet till en ev inkomst i framtiden men framför allt har vi väldig roligt när vi gör filmerna.
      :-)

    Thanks

    • @JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA
      @JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA  Před 3 lety +1

      I should sharpen my skats... ;-)
      I know that the edge should be little bit concave... it's not super easy. I think I will send them to a company who know what they are doing.

    I wanna hear the ice cracking without the music…….

    • @JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA
      @JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA  Před 2 lety +1

      The ice was quite thick and solid so it didn't crack that much at the time we made this video. The ice sounds most when it starts to grow on the lakes. /Stina
