When I saw his screenplay about his life I realized his gift of playwriting - sad he didn’t write more - he was one of the best

Great video! Thank you so much for posting on Charles Nelson Reilly!
On recommendation of a friend, I checked out all of his appearances on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
If you haven't seen the many videos of him right here on CZcams, check it out... You are in for a treat!!

What a wonderful piece! Thank you very much. When I was a teenager in the 70s wondering if I was gay Charles Nelson Reilly was a shining star in a sky devoid of gay heroes. Bless you.

Yea, I grew up watching him on the cartoon, Lidsville. It was a really strange kids show that aired in some regions. czcams.com/video/g3DidOxKPfo/video.html

With that being said, CNR was my hero. He represented my uncles and most of the people I cared about.

Charles was greatest on Match Game. I believe he resented being on the such a lowly type of production...He always seemed to have considered himself a classical theater performer and probably hated all the boobs, and tinkle references.
I'm sure he had a poster of Lawrence Olivier along with William Shakespeare in his bedroom wall.

CNR did fall into a sreeotype the homophobic audiences expected and could typecast. Many were turned off by this but he may not have had the ability to act outside of cast

Loved Match Game. Unfortunately the contestants ruined the show. Should have left the celebs go at each other.
