Really excellent story, a real gem to listen to and enjoy immensely. A great pity the BBC has abandoned a successful area of radio. Much appreciated ❤👍

Excellent. It includes a couple of olde-tyme audiobook regulars Jeremy Clyde and Gabriel Wolf, and they lead a splendid BBC gang; back when the BBC still knew how to treat Victorian drama (and melodramatic comedy) with a sympathetic light touch. '"£810 per annum .. and .. a house" ... "Just you wait .. that's all ...!"' Thanks for this .. and all the others.

I’m about halfway through and finding this story two-dimensional and old-fashioned to the point of narrative paralysis.
That being said, it features Jeremy Clyde (of “Chad & Jeremy”) and I always enjoy his distinctive speaking voice, so I suppose I’ll listen to the rest of this thing just for his performance. And the other actors are all certainly pretty first-class.

But in my lifetime, I've known priests before.they were priest,

-- He should take off his rector shirt then
And then give the other rectord a very good black eye for ,
What he & the other guy put him through in this play. !!!!
