The song is "Let me be your Armor" from Assemblage 23. I thought it was fitting, as that seems to be what Ross and Naomi are. Each others armor.
I'M SO HAPPY THIS IS STILL UP!!! first song of theirs I ever heard. When I was 16 (31 now :3) my bf showed me this amv and i fell in love instantly. (he didn't dedicate it to me since he explained how by the end it's clearly not a healthy relationship mindset lmao) but it got me to check out armitage as well.

yes, and if by a bunch of years ago you mean at least 8 than you would be correct (they showed it on saterday anime. i also remember seeing IRIA and the 8-man on there as well)

The show is called "Armitage III."
There is a four part OAV.
There is a movie called Armitage III: Poly-Matrix which is the dubbed version of the fourt part OAV smushed together to make a movie.
And there is Armitage III: Dual-Matrix. Set some years after the OAV.

There's only two Movies, Armitage III the Poly Matrix and Armitage III the Dual-Matrix. The III is just because she's a third-type android.

I don't think the last verse of the song is the 'true meaning.' I think he's making the point that if you try to be someone's armor for too long, THEN you are stifling/over controling/etc. So the concept has positives and negatives, just like anything else. When you get right down to it, though, the meanings of songs are subjective. They are a reflection of who you are when you hear them.
