It's amazing how just adding that small bit of highlight makes the "jewel" come alive. I kept looking at the dull red thinking adding a smidgen of white wasn't going to make it shine like the turquoise "stone" did...not the first time I've been wrong. So beautiful💞

I love this stone too. I’ve watched her turtorial on using resin, some stones she uses the resin on the stones before painting them in this turtorial, the stone doesn’t look shiny except on the actual stone. I’m wondering what it would look like if the entire stone was covered with resin and then painted and then had a final coat of spray resin? Would you be so kind to share your experience. I’m going to attempt this ! But, it’s obvious, that it’s not easy for a beginner. But, it’s so pretty and worth the try.

Having a great time watching your videos today. Hey have you ever tried the "floated color" method of shading and highlighting? They used to teach it in tole painting classes in the 80s. You hardly see it anymore. So fast! If you haven't heard of it...You base in with the medium color...Shade the dark side...then highlight the light side. You use a flat or a rose brush, wet it with water or extender. Blot brush on paper towel until the shine is gone. Dip the edge in the dark paint, go to the pallet and brush a small... About 1 inch line with your brush flat, on the same line 3 or 4 times until the paint graduates from full paint on one side, and clear on the other. I hope I said it right. I'm sure there is probably a video about it if interested. Your work is just lovely. Thank you for taking your time and posting these videos. I'm going to have to go to Sally's to see if they have any nail dotters!

Hi Rachel, I love this. I've always been scared to paint anything other than "cartooney" things. Since I found your wonderfully instructive videos, I've made the peacock feather, the mushroom fairy house, your sweet starfish, the ship anchor and I even tried your zentangle dog paw. :-) This one, however is the biggest challenge so far. I did two today, one in reds and the next in purple. I'm going to keep trying until I'm happy that it looks the way I really want it to. Practice makes perfect, right?
