14:00 In America we generally refer to them as bellhops. Busboys are the people who clear the tables after you're finished in restaurants 😀
Ah ok thanks!
The canonical remark about time on a crossing is "Nothing to do, and not enough time in the day to do it"
We’ve not heard that before but we like it😊😊
I absolutely LOVED the night that both the band and orchestra played together in the ballroom with people dancing to In The Mood by Glenn Miller! To me, that’s the old style cruising and they should do that every night! ❤
Yes it is pretty special! 😍
You eat pheasant pink in fancy places. They tend to prepare them a little more medium-rare.
I’m learning more about pheasant every day, I really liked it!
In America the people that clean your table in a resturant are called busboys and bellboys are the ones that handle your luggage for you.
Thanks for that! 😀
Sometimes they’re also called a bellhop.
In America you can also marry your 12 year old sister.
Happy Belated Birthday Mr. Morgan. Great vlog, you guys crack me up with your banter to each other lol. In Canada a bus boy is one who collects dirty dishes from tables at restaurants
Thanks for confirming that even though I was wrong I’m not going mad🤣🤣
That late night buffet looks brilliant, not sure about the egg sandwiches with the curry though 😅
Lol it was a great combination! 🤣🤣
Gold or gold/red patterned pocket square would've been perfect with your fine tux. Thanks for a peek at your adventure and all of the info. My wife and I consider you to be our favorite cruisers/ cruise critics.
Aw thanks Ron that’s great to hear, the pocket square is a great idea 💡
I love you two! Your enthusiasm and cheer is so wonderful!
Aw thanks you are very kind 😊
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel Well I guarantee that if I ever run into you on a cruise I will both buy you a drink AND stay to chat because you guys are a veritable tonic of good cheer! One can’t imagine not having fun. I loved the Cunard transatlantic I took as well and can’t wait to do another and you’ve convinced me that next time I should drop by the ballroom.
Yes, you ghents are quite entertaining
What an excellent video which really captures what the Cunard trans atlantic experience is all about. It looks so fun and sort of a step back in time in cruising ....which I think is good! thank you so much.
It is definitely an experience like no other, long May it continue.
Belated birthday greetings, Mr Morgan! This is turning out to be a superb cruising experience, great entertainment and very interesting speakers, imagine casually meeting Angela Rippon! Piccalilli - at work I used to go to local cafe and buy a doorstep corned beef and piccalilli sandwich. Yum! I agree with your gripe about the seating arrangements - not good. The other people need their privacy too.
Angela was lovely, so down to earth, swap the piccalilli for Branston pickle and I’d be happy.
My therapist only recently helped me finally erase the image of Paul dressed as Britney Spears from my memory (over several lengthy sessions I might add) only to watch this video and without warning have the image of Paul wearing his gold thong under his suit thrust at me, now I can't get that out of my head 😱 These sessions don't come cheap you know.
That aside, what a superb video, really gives the viewers a taste of the QM2 experience, I'm absolutely loving this series, I don't want it to end!
Enjoy your travels you lovely people 👍Take care, Vik ❤️
P.S. I've never heard of Eminem Cruises either 🤔
Glad your enjoying them Vik, you know what Carole has to put up with now🤣🤣🤣
This comment! 😂
Totally agree about the seating, same as parking your car loads of spaces and then they park right next to you and you struggle to get out, drives me crazy
It is very frustrating, you can understand it when it’s packed but not when there is less 20% capacity ☹️
I hate this too. It’s been explained to me the reason why is because they may only have a limited number of waiters, and each waiter is assigned to a certain group of tables, meaning most of the unallocated tables don’t have waiters assigned to those areas. Very frustrating when this happens - an example of prioritising the cruise line over the passengers.
It’s like when you go to the beach and you sit down, there’s nobody else around. New people come and they gotta sit right by you!!!i 😳🤯
Unfortunately, they aren't the only line that does that. It makes me nuts too when there is PLENTY of room. I get that they have to keep tables together for waitstaff sections, but do they need to be THAT close together?
They probably want to fill a station before moving on to the next one, it’s very common in catering .
Thank you so much for this comprehensive, informative and very entertaining video! I did lots of Royal Caribbean cruises with my parents, before my Mum sadly passed away from dementia in August. I am now ready to cruise again with my 81 year old Dad, but want to try something new. Having watched this brilliant video (and the previous one), I am now going to book us on a QM2 transatlantic. Thanks again to you both.
Sorry to hear about your mum, glad our videos have inspired you to get back on the horse so to speak , we think you will both love it!
Happy Birthday
😊A busboy in America is the person in a restaurant who goes around and cleans off the tables after they've been used, and prepares it to be used again. It's slightly different than a waiter/head waiter, because they typically work in a low to mid-range restaurant that's less formal.
Thanks for clearing that up, see what I did 🤣🤣
My mum used to make picalilli she put turmeric in it; thats why it`s that colour. Yummy.
Ah ok thanks!
Love Actually 😂😂 one of my mom's favorite films as well. Cheers from Tennessee 🥂
We love it. We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve seen it🤣
Fab Vlog. I love piccalilli with cold meats! Angela Rippon was the best Top Gear presenter ever! She gave proper reviews of cars.
We must admit we don’t remember her on top gear but certainly played a big part in our youth.
@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel You're not as old as me. Angela was the first ever presenter in the 1970's. She was quality - that is how I remembered. A consumer champion. The show's format changed in later years to a lads show.
Paul you are suppose to eat that dried fruit, it counter acts the end 😂 results the cheese gives you. Also a busboy is someone who clears the table after your meal and a bellboy or bellhop is someone who assists you with your luggage and extras.
I tried to eat it but I would still be chewing it now 🤣🤣
You literally posted this at the exact same time I was looking for videos from you about the Queen Mary 2!
As they say great minds think alike 🤣😊🤣😊
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel It’s true! Also, happy birthday to you, Paul!
This North American country, namely Canada, tops the list of the safest countries in the world for travellers. We noticed you recently took a train trip partially across Canada and you took an Alaskan cruise out of Vancouver. Wise choice, please take care of yourselves while on the Asian cruise. Godspeed.
Thanks Lorraine we loved Canada 🇨🇦
Not sure if Canada is that safe, I've experience the driving standards there and it is worrying awful and dangerous.
Piccalilli is great, when I was a kid it used to help me eat my nemesis 'Brussels sprouts'😁. Liked that Angela Rippon was on board. It seemed like a good birthday.
Lol it was a great birthday!
My wife and I have determined that we'd lose weight on this cruise. In retrospect, that means we should probably take it!
You’ll have to let us know how you get on😊😊
We both love QM2, from quiet moments on deck 2 admiring the view, to cocktails in the Commodore Club or making new friends at the quiz. I understand that dressing up for dinner isn’t for everyone, but we love it and the whole evening experience is part of what we love on a crossing.
We 100% agree 😊😊
Good Evening Mr & Mrs Morgan, love watching the ballroom dancing in the Queens Room! And yes, pheasant should be served slightly pink and watch out for potential shot!!!
Oh ok thanks for the info. Love watching the dancing too!
Big band looked fantastic.
It’s always our favourite night. 😊😊
When cruising on the QM2 try to be shore of yourself, come our of your shell, take time to relax and coast, avoid pier pressure, sea life’s beauty, don’t get tide down, make waves! Fair winds and following seas. Love you channel.
Thanks so much!
😁😛🤪
Very jealous of you meeting Angela Rippon 😊. Interesting Gala Night. Can we get Jonny into a tux?
She was lovely, yes I’m sure we can persuade him to get his tux on 😊😊
It sounds to me like the perfect birthday in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean! Living the dream…….x
As birthdays go it was definitely one of the better ones, and I’ve had a few🤣🤣
Actually Joni Mitchell was born in Alberta, Canada your old stomping grounds Carole and Paul. Smooth sailing.
Oh really, thanks for that!
I love pork pie and piccalli too Carole
Both are delicious!
We've just got off the Queen Elizabeth and we had the same frustration with the tables in the Brittania Restaurant being 1 inch apart! Everytime we went in we had to request a different table. You really get the short straw if you're a pair. :(
We laughed about you getting emosh about the Joni Mitchell song - my trigger is Elvis' 'Can't help falling in love with you' - it was our wedding song and I always burst into tears - every venue seemed to play it on the Elizabeth - even the guest choir sang it! If anyone saw me they must have thought I was a blubbing basket case! :)
Thanks for your New York and QM series. Love them
Yes so frustrating as they are definitely not tables for two. LOL those trigger songs! Great to hear you are enjoying the series!
Picallilli yum, yum, yum. I used to make my own back in the day. Marmite on toast for breakfast…..what bliss.
Lol yes love it! Marmite on toast with lots of butter! Delicious!
We did the 3 nighter when she came out of dry Dock in Nov. Service appalling. Couldn't deliver breakfast room service that was booked day before as 'too busy'. Lovely ship so will maybe try her again, maybe a new set of staff were picked up when getting refurbished?
Oh wow, sorry to hear that. That is certainly out of character for Cunard. Definitely worth another try.
Yeah I knew it wasn't their norm from all the vlogs we had watched. Worth giving them another try on longer cruise probably x
I remember that menu. I didn’t have any starter or soup but had two of the lemon puddings as that is my favourite Cunard pudding of all time.
There’s nothing wrong with two puddings 🤣🤣
Another great video! I would get lost with all the decks and corridors etc, what a huge vessel. Loving your banter, and I have to talk about scones - always jam first, then cream. Except cream first, if it is topped with fresh fruit - rasps or sliced strawberries and a dusting of icing sugar! Yum.
Hi Paul and Carole! Thank you for your review of Cunard. I also thought it was a more “high brow cruise”. We typically sail Holland America frequently and quite enjoy it. You have given me a new perspective on Cunard. Happy Birthday Paul! You folks are lovely and would be a fun couple to chat with while on a cruise. Glad you enjoyed! Cheers! 🎉😊
Oh thank you! The closest comparison is Holland America so if you like them then sure you would like Cunard too!
Great to know! ❤your review confirmed it 😊
the mystery guy who bought the drink was me!!
I had Pheasant in Bath in 70s. I complained there was a piece of Lead Shot in it. They said that proved it was freshly killed in the wild. Fair nuff.
We love LOVE ACTUALLY too
Lol least there was no shot in mine! Yes great film!
We were on the QM2 one year ago at this time and thoroughly enjoyed Panache almost every night. We will be back on the ship this June and hope they will still be there!
Yes they were excellent!
Love your dress Carole xx
Thanks 😊
Love the Insta 360 shots! Great video 😊
Thanks so much!
Watching on catch-up (again), excellent as always 😂
Thanks so much! 😍
We enjoyed our Saturday morning watching your video! Now Andrea really wants to go on Cunard 😂 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Great to hear, go for it!
Enjoyed meeting you on this cruise... and hope you manage to grow your channel.
Cheers, yes it’s still going in the right direction 😊
Loving your QM2 series; you’re a great fun couple. We are taking our first trip on the ocean on the Queen Mary 2 from Southampton to NYC in October; can’t wait. Your videos are giving us a great insight. Thank you for the series 👍👍
Thanks! Glad you have found them useful! Sure you will have a fabulous trip!
Great video, paul and carole . My wife was on a phone call, so I had my headphones on watching on the tv. Laughing out load when paul has his rant. Was told to be quiet, lol. The food looks great, and the breakfast in your room looked very nice. Saskatchewan is warming at last -15c today . I'm looking forward to the next video..
Lol you have been told off! 🤣 Great to hear your weather is warming up! 🥶
LOVE PICCALILLI....Happy Birthday Pauli Morgan
Cheers Cathy, 😊😊
You two are SO funny and entertaining! well done, keep it up, I have subscribed!!!!!
Oh thank you so much! ☺️
In the States, those nice folks who help with luggage and other assorted guest-related tasks are called bellboys or bellhops. There are also people called busboys, but those are folks who work in restaurants and clear your dirty dishes from the table after the meal. So, we have both names in the States, but they refer to very different tasks.
Thanks for the info!
Totally agree about the dining table situation.
Being seated in close proximity to strangers can ruin the experience...especially when you're anti social like my wife and I!😂
Love the videos and love piccalilli.
John & Gill.
Cheers John you sound like Paul🤣🤣apart from liking piccalilli 😊
Great video again. Lots of laughs. How nice of that guy to buy you all a drink. I like piccalilli.
It was indeed a pleasure to buy Carole and Paul a drink at the Golden Lion Pub.
Paul and Carole,
Once again, you are both terrific! I will be sailing on QM2 to do the westbound crossing in May. You give great information and are also very entertaining! Greetings from Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Oh thanks so much! Have a great trip!
Really enjoyed the video, Angela is fabulous I bumped into her in the car park of the big Asda in York she was scrapping bird dirt from her windscreen with her debit card, really chatty and fun
Oh really lol! Yes she is such a lovely lady!
Great vlog :) we saw ODYC on Iona in October and agree they are fabulous :), looking forward to the rest of this trip
They were fab! Great yo hear you are enjoying our vlogs!
Pork pie and a fish finger sandwich? That’s the dream.
I thought the menus were excellent with so many difficult choices to be made.
I’ve long wondered about the dress code but looking at the ship I think I could manage it for a shorter cruise on Cunard.
The entertainment looked great, nice to see Angela Rippon still doing well.
There was always a great choice, Angela was fabulous 😊😊
When I sailed on Queen Victoria and went to watch people dancing in the Queens Room, I noticed there were a couple of gentlemen who were part of the crew (in dinner jackets) there to partner any ladies without male partners. So I was surprised to see a couple of pairs of ladies dancing together. Perhaps this "service" was not available on QM. I agree that it was lovely to see and hear a proper dance orchestra.
One of the two ladies that were dancing was a dance host, there was a few men too but they were always really busy, its a fabulous idea.
Hi both,
Great video of your transatlantic cruise , love big band😊 looking forward to your trip on Queen Anne as we go in August on her .
Thanks so much! We are really looking forward to Queen Anne! 😀
Right then! Thanks to you lovely pair we have just booked our 1st cruise. It’s my 50th this November and we’re doing a Marella Explorer 2 Canarian favours. Thank you guys for your inspiration. If this is the start of many we hope to bump into you guys soon xx
Our favourite comments are when we inspired someone to take there first cruise, do let us know how you get on
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel will do literally can’t wait for it. We’ve watched all of your videos so now just started rewatching Cruising with Susan Calman to fill the void 🤣
I might see you on board, as me and my other half have booked the same cruise as our first after watching this adorable pair. We have also booked our 2nd cruise already, an Australia and New Zealand cruise with celebrity.
@@Workingclasseconomics 22nd November- 29th?
@@SuperJeddyboy Yeah, can't come soon enough.
We are going on our first river cruise this summer, Viking’s Grand European Tour. I just discovered your channel and I have watched umpteen (as my Welsh nanny would say) of your videos because they are so great, informative and funny-love that British wit. Keep up the amazing job-grateful.😍. Love from Canada’s capital, Ottawa.
Oh that's great to hear thanks so much for finding us!
Thanks for the giggle...enjoying your trip...maybe I'll do that trip one of these days. What month did you travel?
Your welcome! We cruised in August 😀
Happy belated birthday 🎂
Thank you!! ☺️
Hello Paul and Carole lovely vlog really captures Cunard life. The pickle you had with your pork at lunch i call mustard pickle my grandmother use to make it
Packing today board Queen Elizabeth on Monday love from Sydney.
Thanks Diana! Ah ok mustard pickle, makes sense. Have a great cruise!
If I see you on a cruise I will introduce myself and buy you a drink as long as you promise to have a chat! lol.
That’s a definite promise 🍺🍻
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel Perfect! lol!
My grandfather used to make picalily but it wasn’t yellow. I liked it.
Oh really, lovely memory!
We had our best ever onboard cruise experience on the Queen E last summer. Everything was great except the fixed dining in the MDR . After suffering though a couple of poor evenings we went to the anytime dining which was much better .
Oh that’s a shame, we tend to alternate between the MDR and the buffet but it all went smoothly for us.
Meant to say really enjoyed your NewYork vlog.
Thanks we really enjoyed making them😊😊
Great video again, guys! I think it's a shame to sell a balcony looking like this on Queen Mary 2. These are jobs they can do while at sea. No need for a dry dock. You pay a lot for these cabins and this would have left me stunned.
I know what your saying but there is such a short turnaround time between cruises it would be virtually impossible to carry out these jobs without taking the ship out of service. But like you said it should be better for the money you pay and hopefully since it’s October dry docking it will now be sorted.
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel I was on MSCs Splendida last September and they are painting all the time somewhere on the ship. A balcony is not such a big deal. Okay, they can not sell the cabin for one cruise, that's true. I think I missed the 1st video! I will run now searching! 🏃😅
Another very informative video - thank you. We are like you and hate tables with almost zero separation, may as well just push them together for what the gap's worth. We are on QM2 in June / July for 15 nights with a transatlantic back to Southampton. Booked a Queens Grill as we thought it would offer a bit more privacy but even there some of the tables look very close.
It is so frustrating! Wow if we paid for Queens Grill and they were that close we would be very unhappy!
You know I always love your videos and this was no different. A bit of trivia since you loved the Joni Mitchell song. Joni Mitchell, a fellow Canadian, was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, a lovely city where my DH grew up. I'd be remiss not to give a big Happy Birthday shout out to you Paulie Morgan. All the best!!!
Thanks Kathy, when Carole started all this blogging stuff years ago the first person who ever commented was a lovely lady from Saskatchewan who still follows us to this day.
Joni was not born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, she was born in Alberta.
I Love Piccalilli mustard pickle, usually made with yellow mustard, white vinegar, and turmeric for an added nuclear blast, where I live, but also can be made with the less nuclear-coloured English mustard or even brown mustard, and malt vinegar or apple cider vinegar they all have a different taste. My favourite was one I had that had little chunks of apple in it as well, so you got this little sweet hit with the sour. If you like the Piccalili Carole, you will probably like the Italian version, without the mustard, Giardiniera
Oh like the idea of the one with the apple in, sounds great!
Carol You have beautiful hair. Never noticed it before but this video brought out The beauty.
I totally agree her hair is lovely 😊
I say crips too to annoy my family 😂 great video guys 😊
Lol! 🤣 We do love crips!
I would love to havean evening with these two; so lovely!
Aw thanks
Maybe the seating is so that it’s easier for the waiters if it’s not too spread out. Not so necessary in the buffet where you serve yourself. I agree that they could at least use alternate tables
I think there is an element of that but like you said alternate tables would have been nice.
Well that's spoiled Love Actually for me! 😑 ...... 🤣🎥
Lol sorry! 🤣
New subscriber. Love your channel😀👏
Thanks for finding us!
Ahhhh, Joni Mitchell, Canadian born. Lovely song, Both Sides Now written by Joni but made popular by Judy Collins.
Thanks Billy we didn’t know that.
A busboy is someone who clears your table in a restaurant, here in Canada
Ok thanks for that! 😀
Its not boring its relaxing orcas busy as you want it to be. Also you neet some great people and left the last crossing with 2 new freinds
Yes we live meeting new people too!
Nothing wrong with a bit of piccalilli Paul lol yum. Carole, marmite yuk lol ODC.Y was amazing, we saw them on Arvia last Nov. X x
Carole likes all the weird stuff, that’s probably why she married me 🤣🤣
HI Guys interesting to see how different your late night buffet experience was to ours on QM2. It looked great
Oh really? Ours was really good!
Great to see the birthday shirt and soo happy not to see the gold thong!
Lol are you sure, I think I’ve got a few photos somewhere 🤣🤣
Yikes!!!!
Birthday blessings from Canada. In Canada we call them bell boys. That picadilly (?) looks like what we call mustard pickles. So sad you didn't have a stop over in Newfoundland.
Hi Cheryl we are sure we will get there at some point, mustard pickles does sound about right 😊
Bellboy always makes me think of Sting in Quadrophenia. Busboys bus the waste away after you’ve eaten.
I like to say that was before my time but know one’s going to believe that🤣🤣
Seeing as how you are two years older than me, it’s definitely not before your time 😁💕
I would love a 1920’s night.
It is great!
Nice
Thanks!
Love Piccalli👍
Lol great to hear....team Carole!
Love ❤️
Thanks! 😀
Pheasant is a game bird. The meat is heavier with blood and yours eas fine.
Thanks for that!
In my collage days I did a bit of waiting tables. The whole restaurant was divided into sections, often a section was declared no seating, this was because we didn't have enough staff. A section was about 15 tables, sometimes less if we were fully staffed. So I understand what was happening to your seating problem. Often people don't understand how thing work. But we always tried to accommodate where possible.
Understand that was probably the case, but not the best experience for the passenger.
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel Agreed.
Thank you for the video. Carole I’m with you I love piccalilli and marmite ❤ sorry Paul😂😂
Lol! 🤣 Thanks for watching 😃
You can eat pheasant slightly rare without ending up in the sick bay ;-) Personally I prefer mine cremated .. Enjoy your trip guys!.. oh, and I LOVE piccalilli
Lol thanks! Another one for team piccalilli Carole!
Happy birthday🎉
Thank you!
Thank you for the video. How many CZcamsrs does it take to change a light bulb? Hit like and subscribe to find out! LOL
Cheers Mike, same time next week 😊😊
😂😂😂
As many as possible, many hands make light work
The milk tray man of drinks 😂
Oh yes, exactly that! 🤣
Pheasant, a little bit red is not unusual, it is treated more as red meat than white meat, so like a medium to medium well steak.
Ok thanks!
I always preferred Branston pickle myself...no accounting for taste 🤣
Lol we both love Branston! 😍
Informative and very funny video. You two crack us up. I can't get gold thong out my mind 🤣🤣
I apologise for that Linda, maybe if we ever do a calendar I can pose in it🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'll buy it 😂
