      Definitely true! What Adam was referring to is the MP3 recorder built into the mixer. What you are hearing in the video is the stereo mix coming out of the mixer, being recorded through our Focusrite interface. The MP3 recording capability is not quite as high fidelity. Hope that clears things up!

      Hi, what sort of audio interface would be sufficient? Is it just one output/input that's needed to record the stereo mix? (I'm new to recording) thanks

      His hearing deteriorated in the course of decades until he became deaf in his last years, so he had quite a time to get used to it. Besides he mostly composed during those years, I wouldn't say he needed practicing that bad cause he was already a legend.

    if they had put a snare input on this thing, this would have been an amazing home recording tool.

    Hi, thanks for the review. I got one of these kits for some time now and I'm really happy with it. I think I can gain some precision with my kick in no time. I tried the "Glyn Johns technique" for the overheads but came back to the recommended setting. The Glyn Johns technique would probably sound better in another room. Anyway, a very good product for practicing and probably for small gigs (haven't tried yet). The quality of the internal recording system is useful for practicing but too poor for anything else. My kit is a DW Frequent flyer with a Super Solid snare and I use Paiste cymbals. Cheers from Switzerland.

    Orrrrrr, a Samson DK707 kit for like $230 and a 4 channel interface for $75. For $50 more you get 4 more mics and better expandability, full mic kit if you play a live show somewhere, extra mics, etc.

    • @_IRONJAW

      what 4 channel interface do you reccomend?

    • @lukebogartmix
      @lukebogartmix Před 4 lety +3

      @@_IRONJAW If you're trying to get 4 channels for $100 or under, the UMC404 used hovers around there, and older interfaces like some Presonus/Tascam ones, you just have to look around your local area on like Offerup, ebay, reverb, etc.

    • @_IRONJAW
      @_IRONJAW Před 4 lety

      @@lukebogartmix thanks so much. Im just guessing it's plug and play after I set all the asio settings again? I'm coming from a single UM2 wanting to record 2 mics.
      Main concern just for now is wanting to record an overhead mic and kick mic at the same time

    • @lukebogartmix
      @lukebogartmix Před 4 lety +1

      @@_IRONJAW Yep! So with whatever interface you choose to use, it would just be as simple as going into your DAW, making two (or however many channels/mics you're using), setting the inputs on those channels to the right ones, and hitting record.

    Hello, i have a question about recording the sabian sound kit with a focusrite scarlett
    solo 2nd gen. The focusrite has one XLR input and to record the sabian sound kit directly onto a computer I have to connect it to the focusrite with an XLR cable.
    But the input on the focusrite is intended for microphones. Do I have to worry about that or will it make no difference?
    Thank you very much in advance!

      Though the primary application for this system is rehearsing, you could use these mics for overheads and a kick mic. You will want to add at least another dynamic microphone for the snare drum. Something like an SM-57 would do the trick. goo.gl/Yp7ock

    AAAAAAND it sounds like crap! lol! No but the Bass kick doesn't have any.. you know.. Bass! No snap on the snare, the cymbals have no stereo image, & the floor tom just gets lost sadly. This is a great idea however. I just think it is in it's early stages of development. Drummers in general are terrible at mic'ing up & mixing their drums though. Tracks from the 70's & even the 60's sound 100 times more defined than any of todays music, which is really sad.
