This is our little medley of songs representative of the different time periods music has traversed through. We know this may not be the most historically accurate, but we mainly chose songs that would transfer well to solo violin and cello, taking inspiration from groups such as String Fever and Igudesman and Joo.
We also performed this same medley at AJ Rafael's Music Speaks 2012 as the winner of his audition contest. Hope you guys enjoy our video/music, and special brownie points to anyone who can name all the songs we used ;)

I laughed so hard when they played cannon in D, and the cellists face was completely expressionless! This is the kind of stuff that only orchestra nerds get!
I know, love the song but I screamed inside when we had to play it in orchestra, being a cellist.
+The Viewer yeah. I'm a violinist. My favorite moment of orchestra was always when a couple of my cello friends would be having conversations between each other during that song. My teacher back in 6th grade was also a cellist, so she kinda just let it go. Best memory ever!

There's been such a change the past century with so many styles
There's been many changes, trends, styles and movements before the 1900s, but to most people I guess it all sounds the same.
That's what I meant. Plus, judging from the cellist's face, I'm pretty sure they enjoyed the more recent styles more.

This is a very good idea indeed. Thanks Albert for using his music to bring us have a journey of history of music.
It's not until I watch these videos that I wish I could go back and stay in Violin practice... Bullying pressured me out of it, and I wish that I had just dealt with it...
I'm sure you can work it out, persevere and you can accomplish just about anything. You can get back into the violin, it's never too late to start something again.

I am a violinist and I began reasonably late at 14 because when I was younger, I was always interested in the intstrument but everybody said it was a 'girls' instrument etc, schoolchildren can be rediculous! It doesn't matter when you start, i've only been playing for a few years and now i'm pretty much accomplished so if you practise and stay determined you will succeed as well. Best wishes! :)

I've planned to start practicing round a friends house, they teach music, so I think it was a good choice. Hopefully I can progress with it and starting this late won't affect it too much.

GamerXian 100 bucks will get you a cheap one don't go cheaper than 70 bucks tho or u will 100% for sure have to have work done and on something that cheap its not worth it. also I wouldn't sell the guitar so short there are lots of songs that fit your description I think you may be just looking in the wrong areas either way hope what ever instrument you decide on works out for you music is a wonderful thing.

+Dom McClain Lol not that much, A lot of people cant differenciate between double bass and cello. Just in case you didn't know how to classify, Look up the images, A cello has a 'Large sized violin' kind of look, But on the double bass, the shape is a bot different near the end of the neck.
