The real tragedy is that even in the Nightmare on Elm Street meta-universe, Ben Tramer is still dead, *and has yet to be properly memorialized.*
My only complaint about this movie is that Robert Englund just disappears. I would have loved to have seen a confrontation between him and Freddy
A lot of plot holes in films are due to deleted scenes. Independence Day deleted a scene show Jeff Goldblum’s character built his alien malware using samples of alien software.
@Brandon Spain holy crap I had no knowledge of this. Thank you!
You know what would've been great is if Robert Englund played both himself and Freddy, so there'd be a scene where he jumps out at Englund, cackling and goes, "You know, I think I've Seen Your Face Before!"
@@DJMangoh Originally on the freeway scene Freddy was supposed to appear in a car with razors sticking out the front an try to run down the kid but it was cut for time an budget
@@boomstickcritique902 Poor kid couldn't get run over again!
Babysitter : "No, his mother specifically said...."
Nurse : "Do it!"
Good thing her next words weren't gonna be "He's allergic to that"
Nick Smith one malpractice suit later
Hey I live in LA. You get use to freddy cutting up your walls after a week
Yeah, but then he steals your power glove and laughs at you when you ask him to return it.
Same. I rather have Freddy cut up my walls than live on hot weather during the Summer.
Lutece actually I would let him take my power glove because that thing sucks
Lutece
Yea, but my cockroach problem became a non-issue so it was a good trade off.
Do you have Freddy insurance
One of my most favorite moments of the whole franchise is when the movie world spills into the real world and Heather turns around and she's back on Elm Street in Nancy's pajamas. Gives me chills everytime!
No Freddy vs Englund scene in this was the biggest sin.
I Swear!!!!
I clicked off of XVIDEOS so fast when I saw this notification of a new Snob review.
Elias Lopez somebody should post Snobs porn reviews there

Glad u have ur priorities straight lol
Nick Mattio nothing gets us hotter than a hot and fresh load of brad
Robert Englund as himself is damn terrifying in this movie.
@River Acheron What I liked about it was the ambiguity. Granted we all know what "Freddy" is in New Nightmare, but they never specifically said how he came to the physical world. For all we know, "Freddy" could have possessed Robert. True it's shown that Robert and his wife went out of town, but considering how the climax started to mesh the real world with the movie world, very similar to how Wes originally intended the first Nightmare to be; it makes sense that that scene couldn't be taken at face value. For all we know, New Nightmare isn't Heather's scary reality, but Nancy's bad dream.
Personally I think he is the funniest murderer ever 😂
"My son is wrapped up like a sandwich, can we talk about your moral crusade later?!" lmao
"Bothering the guy that plays me in real life" That line is amazing.
Brad, you should review the 1989 version of Phantom of the Opera starring Robert Englund. I mean the friggin poster read "Robert Englund was Freddy. Now he's the... Phantom of the Opera. An all-new nightmare."
The funny thing I find about the 89 Phantom film is with the makeup they give Englund he actually looks a bit like Freddy.
Yes! Freddy teams up with Buffalo Bill to fight a hungry laundry machine. Which are the only elements I remember from that movie.
Yeah, and they even have him making an orgasm face when he kills someone which I always thought was reminiscent of the needle scene from nightmare 3 xD
Or what about Phantom of the Paradise?
In dreams he came.....
That's really clever how the witch in hansell and Gretel is shown wearing red and green socks as she is pushed into the fire
Tonglohng It's a pretty clever movie like that.
yeah...I kind of wish I had seen it on my own first as horror based around corruption of perception of reality is my jam and this seems right up my alley.
This is sort of the H20 of the Nightmare franchise...it brings the original protagonist back for an anniversary film full of references to the original. But while the references in H20 are just there to pay homage, the references in New Nightmare serve a purpose in the story, by showing how reality and fiction are being intertwined and Heather is actually becoming her on-screen hero.
This is the one Elm Street film that I would call genius.
But this film is great. h20 sucked
PRHILL9696 I don’t think Derek was insulting the movie when he was making this connection. He saying that the references to the older movie here works better than H2O
@@dimitripia5156 Well he is right as this film worked, H20 did not
@@PRHILL9696 my God, H20 have too Many Haters.
I have some fond memories of H20. The name always bugged me. It could have been so much worse, tho.
Heather Langencamp looked stunning and seemed really nice in an interview I watched. I heard she's in special effects now, together with her husband.
Always one of my favorites in the Nightmare series. It’s always fun watching Brad try to review a movie he clearly enjoys. It keeps it interesting.
Would've liked to know what all was going on Robert Englund's real/fake character. Felt like there could've been a whole other story going on parallel to Heather's.
There absolutely was. Robert Englund and family were def getting haunted as well, and most likely other New Line folks, as it was strongly hinted at in the movie. (Even w/ Robert Shaye) I would have loved to have seen more focus on other cast and crew members encounters with Demon-Freddy.
Only he's being haunted by Nancy and she wants to kick the shit out of him.
Yeah, a "New Nightmare: Heather" and a "New Nightmare: Robert"...like POkemon Red/Blue, you know...
scary freddy is best freddy. his humor worked early on because it was dark and creepy, but then it got silly.
Thomas Jenkins That’s because later on he became too main stream So the jokes become bland instead of dark.
I mean so main stream that Robert England Had his own horror anthology tv series as Freddy being the host. Freedy’s nightmares
I never saw Freedy’s Nightmares.
I do have the entire Freddy’s Nightmares series on dvd 😐
C'mon Heather, kids love horror. "Until they started being PG-13." Nailed it Cinema Snob!
Heather Langenkamp looks absolutely beautiful in this movie . I think she makes trading cards now
Joey JoJo She's actually a makeup effects artist nowadays from what I've heard.
Absolutely, she looks gorgeous!
duckiedale80 It's a shame that movie was misadvertised...
She’s drop dead gorgeous.
she is
I have been waiting for 2 years between the second and the third review. And now he's just throwing them off every now and then.
That's why you should never give up kids , dreams do come true.
Well, Snob's got to review all the Robert Englund Freddy films before doing the review for Freddy vs Jason next month. Otherwise, he'll be totally confused about why they're fighting.
BulletTooth504 Seems fair. But spoiler alert , they're fighting to see who love Ben Tramer more.
That's beautiful maaaaaan
Sharp Hand Joe... *We meet again* ...
Only pant can sustain him.
RIP Wes Craven.
This is my favorite Nightmare movie. I have the licensed mask from this movie and leather pants solely because I love it so much.
When did you host a panel with Robert Englund?
OH HOLY SHIT you got to meet Robert? When was that? I'd love to see a video of it.
Yeah I wanna know too!!
I get to meet him in August, along with Amanda Wyss ( Tina from part 1 )
And he got to meet the (probably) Zodiac!
Bob also played the bartender at the gay bar in Nightmare 2.
That really is how it goes. A solid movie that brings back more terror and is legit unsettling. So of course it effectively bombs at the box office. Thus making the point that if you don't have silly Freddy then people won't show up.
That's because Freddy Kreuger isn't scary, at all, on any level. He works better as a joke.
You can't make Freddy scary again after his popularity came from making him funny.
That phone call sounds like Ghost Face. Love your videos, Brad!
the photography is surprisingly good for the 90s
No joke, this might be my favorite entry in the franchise with how meta it got. The performances were great too, with just the right amount of camp retained, and Freddy was actually scary again for the first time in like, two films.
Glad Wes got to revisit some of his original themes that had been lost over time too.
Hey, i was at that con Brad met Charlie and Robert! Too bad I couldn't make it the day Robert had the panel Brad moderated.
Langenkamp has very nice legs. I saw Heather in "The Dream Warriors", the first movie of the series I took in and at the tender age of 11, I fell in love with both!
"I'll be home in three hours" shit lite traffic in LA that day
This is my all time favorite freddy movie! So ahead of its time! Plus its awesome to see brad again!
I can't believe these movies have made so much money ripping off classic toy Nightmare Feddy.
lol "Feddy, Feddy, brother of the Freddy."
One thing I enjoy about this movie is the ending. It's got this snake biting its own tail kinda vibe to it. Wes tells Heather earlier that storytellers can capture the Freddy entity but not destroy it, and if they stop making stories about it then it will get free. So, what do you do? You create an endless loop in this story that when the story ends, it begins again. Heather reads Dylan the script, which starts the movie all over again and it will end right there again where it will start over again in perpetuity.
Definitely the best of the sequels, probably second next to "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3:Dream Warriors". In fact the only entries I own are the original, the third, and this one. Man it won't be long until you get to "Freddy vs. Jason", or the 2010 remake with Jackie Earl Haley. I bet the 2010 version would be prime "Snob" material. Also funny how you mentioned Wes Craven as both John Carpenter and Sean S. Cunningham, but I surprised you didn't say something about that note at end being signed by George A. Romero. Great as always.
I prefer this than the third. The original is the best
Things could have changed in the time since then, but I believe when the remake came out, Brad did a review for the site and actually really liked it.
PeaTearGryfin the opinions of the snob aren't the same as brads, he's done movies he's liked before and tore into them as the snob.
Pretty much the same with me. Wes Craven wanted this to be the first sequel. As far as I am concerned, only THREE Nightmare On Elm Street films exist, the original from 1984, Dream Warriors from 1987, and this. The rest are not worth it to me.
Holy shit! It’s John Carpenter!
I'm selling this Nerf Football on Ebay.
Can't wait for the New New Nightmare... The Nightmare on Elm Street Reboot.
15:33 Holy shit you actually met Robert Englund?? You should have him guest star on the show sometime!
Husband: “Alright, I’m coming home. I’ll be home in three hours.”
Snob: “You’re two blocks away!”
LOL
It would have been funny if the limo driver thought she was Ashley Laurence from Hellraiser
Johnny Depp did say that he would have gladly done a cameo in this movie had he been asked. That guy is a class act.
John saxon vs freddy Krueger make a movie about them instead of another remake
This would be awesome. Team up John Saxon with Patricia Arquette and Grady and you got yourself a movie
Make it a courtroom drama about how Donald Thompson's incompetence lead to Freddy's release from prison back in the late sixties.
This was by far my favourite one. It's look, it's plot, it's Freddy, all had the best feel with me.
I actually went to Empire State Comic Con and had the pleasure of meeting Robert Englund. I was almost taken aback just by how nice he is
The one thing that film should've had is Freddy and Robert England meet with each other and trade wits.
And then Robert Englund disappeared only turn up as the owner of a strip-club overrun with zombies...true story
andyrihn1 I love that movie! '' Hey buddy you got any guns?'' , In response Robert whips out an NRA membership card and a crap ton of guns.
ghostofkrows the best scene though is Paco’s last stand
Not before forming an angry mob in brutal retaliation against Captain Howdy.
@@ghostofkrows what movie is that?
@@Daddyharlem Zombie Strippers. Literally that is the title of the movie.
This was the very first Nightmare movie I ever watched. Most of it flew completely over my head, not knowing who were these people or what movie was that that they were always talking about.
It made little sense to me, but had an overall creeppy vibe. Perhaps I should rewatch it now.
I guess no one notices that the witch in the Hansel and Gretel book has the same color stockings as Freddies cosby sweater.
Foreshadowing.
Heather looks gorgeous in this film!
Minor correction: Craven wasn’t too afraid to ask Depp to reprise his role, there was no way the budget would allow for it so they didn’t even reach out to him.
No. Craven himself has said that he was afraid to ask him because he thought Depp had gotten to be to big of a star to say yes.
I'm more hype for Snob doing all these Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street reviews over the years to lead up to Freddy vs. Jason more than Infinity War.
Now with Happytime Murders trailer will we finally get Meet the Feebles?
I need it as my companion piece to Let My Puppets Come
18:00 Crushing a brittle toy in army boots? C'mon... Anyone can do that. If he could step barefoot on a Lego and show no pain, now *that* would be intimidating.
Been waiting a long time for you to review this. So happy :)
Can't forget about Robert Shaye's best on-screen role: the leather clad bartender in "Freddy's Revenge."
Best Vodka Cranberries ever. 🤤😉
I'm a simple man, I see CinemaSnob and I watch.
The film has no opening titles to blur the illusion of whether it's a film, a documentary, or something else altogether.
This is the first movie in the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise that doesn't have any opening credits.
The events in this film revolve around Heather Langenkamp having a stalker. In real life, she did have a stalker, and Wes Craven got her permission to weave it into the story.
At one hour and fifty-two minutes, this is the longest film in the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise.
the only nightmare on elm street movie where none of it takes place in springwood.
The death of Heather's husband largely came about due to concerns that Freddy simply wasn't killing enough people in the screenplay.
Tracy Middendorf's death scene was shot in a rotating room.
Body Count: Four
(At around one hour and forty minutes) In the final scene where Dylan stabs Freddy's tongue outside the oven, you can hear the famous Psycho (1960) shower scene music.
Tuesday Knight: (At around thirty-six minutes) can be briefly seen in Chase's funeral scene.
In A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), the movie that Nancy watches on television to try to stay awake is The Evil Dead (1981). In this film, the movie that plays on television is A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984).
In reality, Heather Langenkamp's real husband David LeRoy Anderson is a special effects man. As he is in the film.
In the ending credits, Freddy Krueger is credited as himself, even though Robert Englund reprises the role.
Before making this movie, Wes Craven watched all of the"A Nightmare on Elm Street" films. By the time he was finished, he claimed that he could not follow the storyline at all. He further regards the sequels to be weak compared to his original masterpiece.
The basic premise of the film, Freddy invading the real world and haunting the actors and crew responsible for the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" films, was originally intended to be used for A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987), but the idea was rejected by the studio at the time.
David LeRoy Anderson, who is Heather Langenkamp's real-life husband, declined to play himself.
Miko Hughes was a Freddy fan way before filming. He would watch them put the make-up on Robert Englund every day.
Robert Englund has said this is his favorite movie of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise
Could this be a segway to Snob reviewing the Scream movies?
I was such a big Wes Craven fan when this came out. Loved it. Thanks for the review :D
Oh thank goodness, I thought there wasn’t going to be a review today. You the man Brad. ^^
Thank you, I love this movie, I've always loved the special effects on the whole series. They are so good.
And again, no mentions of Part 2! Goddamnit, the gay one was the best!
mindlessgonzo You know he covered that one, right?
14:01
HE TALKED ABOUT GRADY ONCE!
It's pretty silly that people involved in making horror movies are even a little surprised at the idea of bringing Freddy back from the dead. "But you killed him off! You can't just... un-kill off the killer in a long-running slasher franchise!" Oh well. This is still my favorite in the whole series.
The first Nightmare movie I saw. Many of the references were lost on me, but it was still a good entry point.
One of my favorite films, with one of my favorite scores ever!
We need more films like this
My favorite of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies! Can't wait to see this review!
GREAT WORK AS ALWAYS BROTHA 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great review. I love ur take on the whole Nightmare on Elm Street series. Keep up the great work. Hoping to see Freddy vs Jason from u.
I really wish that the series would had continued with this new version of Freddy as a darker gritter play in him and not that joke we got a few years back
If you like a darker Freddy better than the remake, check this fan made trailer. The guy that made it, along with two others, spent thousands of his own money to shoot these trailers in hopes of getting a studio's interest in investing in making the movie which he would direct. m.czcams.com/video/sIbv19R2rfY/video.html
AUSSIE TRANSFORMERS And that's what the remake was trying to pull off.... but sadly failed.
Symbiote God because they used freddy's younger brother Teddy..
The meta is strong with this review!
Love ya snob, always enjoy your reviews
Dr. Giggles! 'nuff said.
This movie is _sooooo unrealistic!_ They pretended that Freddy Vs. Jason wasn’t in development at the time!
Brandon Spain Wait WHAT!?
@@troin3925 there were over a dozen potential scripts for Freddy vs. Jason and some of them are really fucking weird
@@JaredGivens1 when one of your main characters uses dream logic as a weapon expect things to get weird. :)
I wonder how that kid is doing these days having grown up central to so many horror movies.
Ahhhh. THIS was my first "Freddy" movie! I caught it on TV back in 98 or 99 or whatever and saw bits and pieces of it.
I knew who "Freddy Kreuger" was and I heard he was sometimes silly and comical and other times your literal worst nightmare. And then I caught some of this movie and man, I wasn't sure if I was ready for some shit like this.
ONE thing I remember was from the funeral scene when Heather was crawling into her husband's (elongated) casket to save her son from Freddy and the corpse of her husband grabs her and tells her to 'come with me'. fuck, man. I was too young for that shit...
… I was about 10, but still...
I was 9 in 88 and saw part 2 first then the next year saw part 5 in the theater 😐
CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEW SNOB DVD!!!!
I dunno what it is but Brad was on fire in this review. One of the funniest I’ve seen in a while. 💯
Aw, no inexplicable football in my living room?
5:18 My grandmother sure did. No joke, Robert England babysat my dad and uncle back in the day. He was into theater back then too.
In L.A. traffic, going two blocks can take up to three hours.
Bradula this is absofruitly one of my favorite movies!
And one of my favorite movies has been Snobbed. That's how we're saying that, right? Anyway. Now time for movie rant.
Does anyone else think that Reel Freddy straight up possessed Robert Englund? That was what I always thought. In which case I'm pretty sure they might have accidentally murdered him. Which is, of course, why they needed someone else to play Freddy in the remake.
Watching this with a friend, made a joke in the first and second movie review that Freddy has a weird tongue fetish... but not only the Tongue Fetish has shown up consistently throughout the whole series so far, it shows up TWICE in this movie!
To the point when it got stabbed, our reaction was pretty much an amused "Well, it was bound to happen eventually."
This was my absolute favourite sequel in the whole franchise. It was smart entertaining and suprisingly rehreshing!
"Screw your pass"
Best movie quote ever
I always wanted Wes Craven's New Nightmare to be the movie being done in the movie and Wes Craven's New Nightmare.
Dinner AND a new snob review what could be better?
Holy shit I've been waiting for this one!
the best of the sequels
You know what would be cool, if Freddy's actor got too fight New Freddy while dressed as Old Freddy. A good old fashioned Pointy Glove Fight
I used to call this movie Lifetime on Elm Street.
I got here as fast as I could I was in a middle of a linkara review but it can wait
Still kicking myself that you were at New York Comic Con last year and I completely blanked on it.
The doctor is the real villain of this movie and she gives a great performance.
I love you videos brad. 😇🐬💗
Hell yeah, baby! My two favorite things are back: The Cinema Snob and his reviews! By the way, be careful, juggling clowns are still dangerous.
It's really disappointing that Johnny Depp wasn't in this. Considering that he made a cameo appearance in Jack and Jill the fact that he didn't make a cameo in what is basically an homage to the film series that helped launch his career is really sad.
