In 1981 The B52's became one of my favorite bands. Now, 40 years later they are on their final tour. I just scored some great tickets for the San Fransisco show. Looking forward to a great final concert.
I remember the radio playing this song a lot in 1985, when they came to Brazil for Rock in Rio. I was 10 and had no idea what they were singing, just that it was totally contagious and full of good vibes, impossible not to start dancing to it.

O império é complexo, controlado pelos iluminatis do "Bildberg Club" e sobrou pros USA a tarefa militar de matar e intimidar as demais ameaças sejam ficticias (simulacros como Pearl Harbour e 911) ou reais. Claro que democracia é uma farsa e votamos em meros fantoches num jogo de cartas marcadas, não importando quem está no "governo". B52 em "Private Idaho" fala de um povo com medo fabricado pela TV, da farsa da guerra fria e a possivel guerra nuclear. Isso tem uma ligação direta com "Power of knghtmares" do Adam Curtis e "Demon haunted world" do Carl Sagan. Esse povo amedrontado vive embaixo da terra (nos abrigos nucleares) como batatas, como diz a letra. O medo nuclear e os abrigos nucleares subterrâneos foram massificados pela TV dos USA nos anos 50/60 tive a sorte de ver uns videos de época e de cara liguei isso a "Private Idaho". O povo isolado, escondido e com medo da guerra nuclear, tem na TV a fonte de informacao que constroi uma realidade virtual bem expressa no filme Matrix de 1999. Private Idaho não tem nada ligado ao estado Idaho dos USA. O que de fato o "privado" diz é que os USA não são uma nação. Porque o povo está dividido. Isolado na solidão do lar. Sem visão do coletivo. Totalmente amedrontados. Ignoram a força das sociedades secretas, que de fato controlam o país e preenchem os cargos importantes do estado. Essa cultura de isolar as pessoas na sociedade, pra em seguida escraviza-las foi bem exposta na série de documentários "The century of the self" do Adam Curtis. Idaho é uma pejoração ao caipira que normalmente desconhece os ardis subliminares de como o a humanidade é escravizada. Quem vive em "Private Idaho" acredita que elege um presidente e que este, sob a batuta das leis governa um país. Cindy was a god damn Goddess in her prime, i still think her and Kate are two of the most under rated vocalist EVER.
Saw them back in the early 90's. Was a great feel-good show! No one stayed in their seats once the music started.
Still together and having fun. 40 years plus.

We lived near Lake Mahopac in 1977-1978. I heard they had a home on the lake. Wish I knew then. Saw them twice. They are still so good.
