Note: Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama were not actually "RADICAL LEFTISTS." I was trying to be "funny."
Also, another law I left out was the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act. It was pretty meh, and probably made illegal immigration even more of a mess today. Thanks Bill Clinton.

Hell, just imagine America without Chinese restaurants, the best damn pizza in the world, all you can eat sushi buffets, the kolache Factory, cinco de mayo, st Patrick’s day, Chicano culture, rap and hip-hop and country and bluegrass music. Everything we’ve absorbed, assimilated, improved, and embraced is almost entirely immigrant influenced. He fought and won a duel against a former Confederate soldier over road tolls, initially lost his election, got the results overturned, was shot the day before his inauguration, almost caused a civil war in Kentucky, and then died a few days later.

Like for example he was almost fatally hit by a rogue wave in pearl harbor, he accidentally shot a guy named Bob Portner while showing how L.C Graves tried to grab Jack Ruby's gun, he lost an eye, etc etc. And the man lived to 100. Although I understand the main message that quote is trying to convey, some claims in the quote are not true. For example in Germany, "Being German" doesn't specifically have anything to do with race. Cem Özdemir, who is the current agriculture minister of Germany, is of Turkish descent, he is the children of immigrants but he is still considered to be German and he identifies as a German. Similarly in Turkey, there are many people who are of Kurdish, Circassian ethnicity who consider themselves to be Turkish and they are regarded as Turkish by law.

Great video as usual Mr Beat!
As an Irish man, I just wanted to talk about something you said about Ireland in the video. 🇮🇪
The Great Famine took place between 1845-1852. Before this event the population of Ireland was around 8.5 million. The Famine took the lives of 1 million while another 1 million emigrated creating what we now call the Irish Diaspora which is estimated to be about 80 million people today, including 33 million in the US alone!
Sustained emigration took place all the way up until around the 1960s when our population hit its lowest point of around 2.5 - 3 million. That’s right, our population had more than halved since the Famine.
It was only in the 1960s and 1970s that Ireland began to see significant economic changes and growth and with it came a boost in population.
Today, our population sits at around 5.2 million. This number shows the effect the Great Famine had on our country. We still haven’t recovered in population since and it was 172 years ago.
It’s also worth noting that many in Ireland (including myself admittedly) believe that there wasn’t a Famine in Ireland in 1845 as much as there was an attempted genocide committed by the British Empire.
It’s believed there was more than enough food in the country at the time but it was being shipped out to feed people elsewhere. Many believe it was at the time, one of the largest man-made famines of all time. This however, is a debate for another time…
Thank you for all the great videos Mr Beat, I’m a an avid subscriber all the way from Ireland 🇮🇪

@@elmdixon that’s pretty cool! : D. My family history here fluctuates back and forth, sometimes depending on the line. Despite my Dad’s Matrilineal line coming in the 1890s from Germany, my 2nd great grandfather on my paternal grandma’s line, Friedrich, married a French woman (which, heh, I have to wonder the rate at which that occurred back in that time frame considering the rivalry). My paternal great grandmother through my paternal grandfather had ancestors from Prussia, even from the parts of Prussia that are now Polish. They were Mennonites and originally moved to a colony in Ukraine for a while before coming to Kansas. When they made their way to California in the 1910s they took up ranching.
As for my Mom’s side, my Great Grandfather on my Mom’s patrilineal line served in the First World War and Russian Civil War in the British army. He came to Ellis Island in November 1921 and made his way to Texas where he met my Great Grandmother. On my Mom’s matrilineal end, my maternal grandmother’s patrilineal end is almost impossible to research but that end came from County Galway, Ireland in the 1880s. Always really enjoy hearing other people’s family histories, always interesting factoids to be heard from them.

@@citrused8571 Thanks! You’re wrong though, they should be made into citizens. They have for sure been in this country longer than you have been alive, hence they have definitely contributed more to the economy than you have (in your entire life). There should be an easier path to citizenship for people who arrived here legally but have a 100% clean record, which both my parents have btw.

Being nice has nothing to do with it, we have added about 60 million people since 2000 and that is a problem. We have to stop adding people until we fix many other problems, we have 340 million people not counting the millions of illegals, we have a declining middle class and citizens that need help. It's just common sense and the left has lost that for whatever reason when it comes to this issue.

America has given us everything that we have, and we owe this country a lot. Proud to be an immigrant Nepali American.

Great video! I used to teach citizenship classes to immigrants prior to the pandemic and my wife is an immigrant from Siberia. I can attest to how difficult, time-consuming, and expensive trying to immigrate to this country legally can be even under the best circumstances, especially if citizenship is the end goal. The vast majority of my own ancestors arrived prior to the Civil War, with some arriving as far back as 1635 Jamestown, so most of them arrived before well the increasingly strict national immigration restrictions began to materialize at the end of the 19th century.

Wait, for the UAE and Saudi Arabian having a higher immigration rate/% of immigrants rate, is this including migrant labor under temporary contracts?
From my understanding several of the countries you cited have high rates of migrant labor that is contractually time bound based upon the projects they are working on. It probably would be incredibly hard to section that out based upon publicly available data, but it's also not generally what we would call immigration. Of course that might be accounted for already, but I couldn't find much specifics quickly through googling. Do you know if your numbers included this or excluded this?

I really enjoyed, One Billion Americans, by Matthew Yglesias. It makes a strong case for needing more people for America to stay on top economically. This can only really be done via immigration, and it points to multiple examples of how even "worst case" immigration situations still benefitted the country/region. In particular, Cuba trolled us good when we allowed a one time anyone can flee the country since it was falling to communism, and they sent us boatlods of criminals and unwanted persons to Miami. But, it still helped the economy.
For many reasons, the American economy does just fine so long as it has more people to sell stuff to. So let's get more people not less.
(seriously, the west is shrinking and the economies of many countries are fucked, America has a golden ticket out and people are like, nah, let's fuck ourselves too)
