  • This is how I managed to get some really disgusting old green paint (30+ years) off the brick work on the front of a house. This was the best stuff I found to do the job as a DIY'er so just wanted to share it. Below are LINKS to the product I used on Amazon. Thanks for watching.

    People that paint brick are the same people that carpet hardwood floors.

    Thank you so much for this video! I'm 64 yrs old and I want to strip the paint off my fireplace and after some researching I was becoming discouraged. By far your tutorial is the best. I feel encouraged that I can tackle this job. Thank you so much!!!

    Thanks considering doing this on a balcony before I repaint. Brick walls, concrete floor. Definitely good to see my options and how long each step will take. The walls may not need doing but the floor is peeling.

    I had thought only sandblasting was still available as an option. Glad to see that other options are available that work.
    I just cringe when I see a painted brick house. Just pains me. Especially so if the interior is just lovely.

      Sometimes people buy houses that were previously owned and had things done to them which they might not choose to do themselves. Very occasionally perfection is not an available option and one is forced to make compromises.

      +Beanz572 I didn't really notice any smell from it at all, although I did mine outside.... You could get a 1 litre tester to try out in a confined basement

  • @kenkopczyk
    @kenkopczyk Před 9 lety +7

    For older bricks, would this approach risk damaging the bricks? After the initial layer comes off, could the rest be accomplished with only the bristle brush?

    • @eBikeSales
      @eBikeSales  Před 9 lety +4

      The wire brush tool in the drill does seem to take off a small amount of the face of the brick as the water goes red. I guess a lighter wire brush would be more gentle but would take more time, on the bricks I have anyhow

    • @susanparker3699
      @susanparker3699 Před 8 lety +5

      +Kenneth Kopczyk It likely would be less damaging than sand blasting. My parents had a wall sandblasted and the brick was old, soft brick. It did strip some of the surface away. It might look better than the horrific painted brick monstrous atrocity.

    Is this the best way to do it if your bricks are going up? A latter would not be safe to do that much work? I need to do the front of my house but the bricks go up instead of side ways.

      But probably would have had to hiresomeone in or a sandblasting machine & compressor and would have had to screen off the whole area in a busy street, this whole job cost me £90, so it was the cheapest and easiest solution for me
