- I see a lot of fuel pump failures in my shop, and the OEM replacements can be very expensive. Save yourself big bucks and fix it yourself! This procedure applies to almost every motorcycle, ATV and UTV that uses a fuel tank mounted pump system.
Thanks for watchin', have a goodun'!
Don't miss Pt.2 .....

Glad to have you back D-Ray. Y'all were missed.
What an unexpected surprise. Glad you’re back!
Thanks!
Thanks D Ray for helping the average person ☝️👍
Great Video! I'm have the same problem with my Midsize 570. Going to check fuel pressure.
Nice to see ya back posting videos again D-Ray, been a spell. Like the bleeder function that I haven't seen someone do on a gauge set up to do fuel pressure, that's an awesome feature, I will be all over borrowing that genius feature. Great time and money saver. Hope your keeping busy and all is well.
Thanks! Yes , we stay very busy anymore so taking th time to make vids is difficult. But I do enjoy making them, so I just gotta find a way to do both, lol!
Great information, this was a lot of help.
You must be a good man, I base this on your dog.. Thanks for the video.
The master is back!!
Where?!?! lol! Thanks man!
Great video
Great to see a video buddy..
Thanks Jeff!
Solid video right there
Good job, D-Ray!
Thanks Ronnie!
Awesome content. Good stuff
Thanks!
I am going to try this. My husband is NOT a gear head, but I am. Wish me luck!
Do you have a list of the parts (Ebay or other) to DIY the adapter?
Like your dog. 😎
Great to see another video from you! Loving step 1 Remove dog. It's crazy how the dealers wanna sell you entire an assembly, when its usually the same companies that make the pumps. I'm guessing its a wahlbro.
Thanks! Ol' Booyah is with me all the time, lol!
On a 06 Polaris sportsman I have to cycle the key on and off three times to get it to 39 which is the right pressure but it starts going down slowly and when on it running it keeps the pressure
Why don’t i see people testing pressure on the fuel rail where the valve is? Handy video.
D-Ray. What is the part number for the replacement pump that you used. Or a link would work awesome.
Hey D-Ray. I have a 800 Ranger Crew and looking the the rebuild kit. You Said you found it on e-bay for $30. Can you send the path to find this? You put out a lot of good info. Keep it up!
2011 polaris ranger 800 fuel psi at 40-41. Having issues with cold starting and low rpm dieing. Runs great at idle once it finally starts and runs great at mid to high RPMs. New Tmap sensor and harness, new TPS sensor and harness and 4miles on the rebuilt 800. 🤦♂️
Hey D-Ray, thanks so much for posting this video - it is awesome! I replaced the fuel pump in my Ranger 570 SxS and then checked my pressure, and it's reading 50+ psi... but I'm still having the same symptoms - it starts and will run for a couple of minutes, but then sputters and dies and then backfires. Any ideas what I should test next? Thanks in advance!
D Ray Any chance you could comment on this?
Where would I find a pressure gauge set up do you have a part number
Dealer must hate you....I've seen a vid or 2 of yours in the past, but I didn't really have a problem, I was just interested....now, I'm gonna watch a few more, trying to track down my compression troubles on '03 Sportsman 500. Thanks for what ya do, and the music is alright, too
Video 9/30/2018. Troubleshooting fuel pump
Your video is quite old but I like the harness with quick connects to the pump and to the fuel line…. My sxs is a 2013 Polaris xp 900. Any chance of getting the quick connect part numbers you used? Not sure if the 570 in your video has the same size fuel hose and pump outlet as my 2013. Thank you
The entire pump assembly is removable. Rebuildable and replacable for fractions over new complete assembly.
Do you know where I can buy that adapter harness at
Iv gotta 2011 Polaris Razer Ranger 900 xp.It won't turn over I put a one way bearing in it but I didn't use a torch wrench to get it just write,so if you could help me out do I use footpound,or inch pounds to the write speackes?
not for nothing but i read a comment on another polaris sportsman 570 video which has a almost identical fuel pump set up and it seems as if the fuel pump gets loose in the housing and the o ring on the pump output looses its seal and you loose pressure and there is nothing wrong with the pump at all. i stuck a piece of plastic on the back side of my pump and the housing to take up the space and keep the pump tight in the housing and fixed it like new. this is a piss pore design by polaris shame shame. thats what i get for buying Chinese instead of Japanese lol i bet a lot of people are buying fuel pumps that dont need them and this condition will always show up ass a bad pump polaris should issue a recall . hope this is helpfull
where can a guy get that fuel pressure adapter? to hook the gauge up?
D-Ray thx for part 1 & 2 for test ranger fuel pump. I bought a test kit and fuel pump was putting out 58psi. So where do I go now. 2013 Ranger Crew 800 EFI. Runs good at first but then bogs down, back fires stops. But it starts up and repeats the bog and runs ruff and backfiers. Again first of day runs good but then goes bad.
Check your old pressure. Oil pressure valve starts to stick in the 700 and 800 polaris motors
What self diagnose online are you talking about? Where and what do I need?
Where did you get that test reg?? I have a fuel, pressure test kit but I can't find the fittings to make the test rig
Same
Seems like I always have a problem with Step one of this video! But she is my riding partner and we seem to work it out.
i have a crancking problem/when engine gets warm
Love the Video"s and really like you helper ! Anyways got a 2013 4 - Seater 800 RZR - with very low hours -------- all me and Grandma ever do is give the grandkids rides ------ it's been to the river 1 time.
Well anyway can't hear the fuel pump cycle anymore ---- I've got 5.2 volts going to it ( is that cool ? -- shouldn't it we 12 Volts ? ) on the first wire on the plug. Engine cranks , but no fuel and of course no start. Can't believe fuel pump is out with so little hours on it .... Your thoughts ?
I'd like to know what you found out I'm only getting 5 volts
Obviously it's a bad connection, probably ground seems to be a common problem on these.
Love the video.
Where did you get your fuel pressure tester with the Polaris quick connect ends so you can easily just book it in line??
Same question
same question, went to oreilly's and autozone and nothing would work,,, it seems maybe utv specific type efi connections? anyway, gonna try amazon.
Any luck finding it?
I have a 2016 that was running hot, I replaced the top end (the piston had a hole burnt in it) along with a new injector. Its seems to be starting, idling and running fine now, but I removed the spark plug the other day and it still seems to be running hot. Could insufficient fuel pressure be the culprit?
No.
I can’t find anyone who carries this pressure gauge. Can you give me more information on it?
I too am interested in the pressure gauge. Anybody know the part number?
where did you get that fuel pressure tester?
I was wondering the same thing seems like he doesn't answer any questions. did you find it if so can you send me a link. thanks
E-Bay has em for $49.00 complete pump, ring, plastic screw lid.
You all are fooled
How so?
