    In basic training for the Army, mainly any extra sugar we got was either in the candy packs in our MREs or the yogurt in the DFAC. When Family Day rolled around, a lot of the other soldiers were finally able to get their hands on soda and cheeseburgers, and it ended up making them feel really sick. The difference is, that even though we were still getting sugar in our diets, it was still heavily restricted and we had better carbohydrates from stuff like wheat bread, vegetables, and fruit. We also had watered down Gatorade to maintain our electrolytes. Other than that, a lot of us lost the taste for sugary foods and fast food in general. It really makes a difference if you can cut out sugar and junk food for two and a half months.

      It’s also not necessarily a healthy relationship with food though if you feel guilty merely about eating sugar; it’s perfectly fine in moderation, it’s really when you start to overindulge when the problems arise. And you are only harming your body, again, if you’re eating these sugary foods in excessive amounts or at an excessive frequency.

    Due to my sugar addiction I had gotten up to 258 lbs and became diabetic with a blood sugar level of 383. My doctor put me on a low carb-low sugar diet for the last four months and I hit the gym 5 days a week for 45 minutes. I just had my latest blood panel done and I am down to a blood sugar level of 87 and I now weigh 207. My waist which was 44” is now down to 36”. I have learned that there is so much hidden sugar in carbs such as potatoes, rice, corn products, cereals, milk and bread, things I always thought were healthy. Learn to read the labels.

    • @thereckon3592
      @thereckon3592 Před 7 měsíci +2

      Exactly. Carbs and added sugar in the processed foods are like cigarettes or alcohol. It's good to take in food that makes you feel full quickly and is better for your health, like those with high fibre content. Also it's good to consume fruits without juicing them or buying bottled juices which usually have lost most of their fibre content and have added sugar.

      I did just up until recently. I just thought of sugar as a "harmless" vice that caused tooth decay and love handles if you over indulge. I'm finding out now though about how really harmful to the body sugar is, specifically to the cardiovascular system. And after doing some research, how insidious (criminal) the food industry , and to an extent the FDA is in perpetuating the harmful effects of sugar ! You wonder , how can this be allowed to happen to the populations (consumers/ customers) if it's killing them ?!?!?!?!?!?!

    • @MagdaEnigma007
      @MagdaEnigma007 Před 7 lety +1

      Well done for making a change! Absolutely, the food industry is out of control and that is why we have kids suffering from diseases which used to be reserved for alcoholics or older people (fat liver and type II diabetes). There is nothing called "in moderation" because everything has so much added sugar that even if you think that you are health, you end up eating 17-19 tsp of sugar per day. I always tell people to divide sugar content by 4 because thinking of sugar quantity in terms of tsp rather than grams is so much easier. Some of my fav documentaries which you may enjoy: "Hungry for Change", "Fed Up", "That Sugar Film" and recently "Sugar Coated". Good luck and once again, well done! XxX

    I tried not to eat any sugar and I didn't find it that hard, I just switched from cookies (which is the typical Italian breakfast) to whole wheat bread and I stopped putting sugar in my coffee. Easy and extremely effective. In Italy most of the products like bread, juices, and others don't contain any sugar and most people only eat home made meals (also literally nobody drinks soda except for special occasions like birthdays, I swear!). when I went to America instead everything tasted so sweet or exaggerated in its flavor. If you get used to real food (pasta is healthy here) sugar is absolutely irrelevant. That's why you shouldn't let children get used to sugar in the first place

    I stopped eating processed sugar like candy, ice cream, soda, etc. and to be honest, I don't even miss sugar! I used to eat ice cream every single freaking night (even in winter idk why) and I had to stop because my dentist told me to cuz I have cavities. (I'm actually healing my cavities and if u don't know look it up! It works) and I feel better! I was usually very hungry throughout the day and wanted to eat snacks but now I don't feel hungry and it feels great!

I can say, strangely after just a few days with no sugar, I am already repulsed by sugary things and have no cravings. I even cashier at a grocery store where Everything is sugary. I am disgusted by it! I struggle more with the oils than anything. Spicy chips are my kryptonite but I am staying strong for my health and longevity(:

But once you start the process of normalizing your gut bacterial flora, you gotta keep going in the direction of health, and keep that yeast/candida at its low, healthy levels.

There have been times when i thought i wanted a sip of soda and WOW... even setting aside the massive sweetness, i also find the carbonation too strong. The whole palate changing is so true for me. I stopped taking in high sugar foods and drinks for about 2 months just because cause I was in a different country and I had to adapt to a new diet. Wasn't fond of the sugar treats they had. Even soda was different. When I returned home and had a sip of soda I was just disgusted of how sweet it tasted. Like seriously it was bad. But as the days went and sugar was slowly added it went back to normal. But im sure it would be easy to remove sugar once you see the palate change.

Overtime I decided to follow in their footsteps with healthy eating, and I mean this is not what you will see on a menu in a Chinese restaurant I mean what they actually eat in the back of the restaurant. A much healthier diet and no soda and no sweets. I have been living that way now for over 3 years and now when someone asks me to try something sweet I can't even put it in my mouth. Elisha Long ketosis kicks in when your body cant get its preferred fuel source which is glucose. Its seriously obvious like you have to be an idiot to think the keto diet is ideal. Every cell in your body runs on glucose and when your body cant get that source it has to come up with a different way to get energy so it converts the fat into ketones. Ketones are less efficient than glucose. Its not a coincidence that your body produces a less efficient energy source when you cut out its preferred energy source.

      You can use Truvia instead of white sugar and Truvia Brown Sugar Blend instead of brown sugar in your baking recipes! Reduces the calories and saves your waistline!

    I left eating sugar in January 2020. I get alot of cravings ( especially liquid) in summer, but I somehow control it. I don't get headaches anymore, no weakness on my face , no health issues whatsoever and above all I feel happy about it.

    Make the changes slowly and stick with the slow decreases of sugar intake is key. I started with soda/pop replacing it with water and zero calorie flavored drink.
