As a Mexican I'm quite impressed that the government at least once made something impressive and good as Cancun based on computers!
As a Mexican, I second your comment with this "x2"

That coastline has some of the best waters for swimming. The second largest reef in the world is just off the coast so the waters are teeming with life. I would go swimming at the resort I stayed at and would be surrounded by huge turtles, poked at by fish, I even saw a few massive stingrays and a barracuda, all less than 50m off shore at a resort with thousands of other people.

I was born in Cancun, when I was a kid the city was so small, quiet, safe and everything was kinda new.
Today Cancun downtown is another world compared to the hotel zone where tourists arrive.
The city itself is ok... Except for the insecurity, but, we have no earthquakes, tornados, about 1 hurricane each decade, consistent tropical climate year round and lots of natural wonders to pass the time.

Think of the oven it would take to cook it. Think of the large glass of milk to dunk it in. Think of how fat we would be if we ate it. We would be bigger than Mexico.

Funny Thing: In other mexican cities and towns the church is on front of the city hall (New Spain Times) but not in Cancun and when a Mayor tried to move the city hall, the people were against it because we are not a city founded to spread the spanish religion, we are a city founded by Mexicans on the 20th century were the state and religion are separate by the constitution.
Other funny thing:
The city was designed to work with blocks like Barcelona and not a single traffic light, only Roundabouts, but the people were not used to so they ended using the traffic lights.

Mexicans are the spanish. The native tribes in mexico ( yeah yeah sure there are exception) are still suppresses by the spanish left colonials that call themselves mexicans.
@@RK-cj4oc please, don't enforce this BS from United States and Europeans into our country. México is the mix of several cultures, we don't have "Natives" in reservations, nor banned marriages like you. In fact we had a Native president before "inclusion" was mainstream (Benito Juárez), we even have the first free black town in the continent: Yanga, in Veracruz.
There's no México without Spanish, Africans, Mayans, Nahuas, mixtecos and zapotecos; this is because our country is the sum of everything, and you can see it with our food: tacos are made with corn (Native) and meat (European), and most of our traditional food is this way, even the "torta" consumed (and made a meme) in the capital is just a "short baguette" (bolillo) brought here by the French during their occupation.
We banned slavery long before you and many people from regions with African ancestors are mixed, my grand-grandfather was a white man who married a black woman, so my grandfather was black, my mother, uncles and aunts also have notorious African traits.
Now I live in a region with four different Nahuatl towns, they don't seem too oppressed, nor banned to marry people. My country has more classism than racism, that's because ignorants are importing First World ideas into a country with a different social context because politics (our "president" uses this for his eternal campaign, but he married a woman called "Müller").
Can't imagine how many hours of stock footage of a man saying "You're in charge of our tourism industry" they had to comb through for this one
I don’t think the stock footage actually shows a man saying "You're in charge of our tourism industry", he kinda just points at the camera and says something

Seems like something, albeit on a much larger scale, we'll use in the future to find habitable planets. Throwing in a bunch of criteria needed to support human life and letting the computers do all of the heavy lifting
Yes, exciting future possibilities along this line. Then there will be a new planet or moon for the 19 year olds to throw up on!!
We need to survive extinction on our own planet first
Future? You mean now? It's not some poor undergraduate students that crunch through the data of hundreds of thousands of star to find a planet signature in its light.
I think we know what makes a planet habitable. Right now, we are learning how to make a habitable planet inhabitable: just add money grubbing, ego-centric, evidence-allergic azz-holez. Aka conservatives.
I don't know why but I'm oddly fixated on the fact that the exact number of wells created was 16. Not 15, not 17, 16. And it had to be accurately reported.
One quarter of a stack in minecraft. Enough to smelt two stacks of ore should it be coal. One full stack of snowballs. 16 individual stacks of cake.
I feel like I’m missing something with this comment, why is it noteworthy they built a specific number of wells. Building an unspecific number isn’t even possible lol
Maybe because of 2^4 since it is calculated by a computer?
@@monhi64 exactly, would it be weird to build exactly 15 wells? Why not 14? Obviously an exact integer number of wells will be built so it’s not weird at all to be specific. I guess the only strange thing would be that somebody bothered to record how many were built

I always wondered why Cancun was basically equidistant from all the major American cruise ports. I’ve been there, and know it’s a major tourist trap, but I didn’t know that it was literally built to be one!
It´s not really a tourist trap, it´s a resort town. A place literally built to be a vacation spot and find places to relax and have fun. Tourist traps are places meant to fool tourists with overpriced and low quality stuff... Which of course all touristy places like Cancun Paris, Thailand, Indonesia, Turkey, or Egypt are full of. But that doesn´t mean that does places are tourist traps per se.
