  • Join me on a Prague boat tour and experience 3000 years of history from a unique perspective. Out on the River Vltava, we escaped the crowds and were treated to unobstructed views of iconic landmarks such as Charles Bridge and Prague Castle.
The boat travels starts on the River Vltava but then diverts up Certivka (or Devil's Channel) through an area known as Prague's Venice.
Prague has been my favourite city since my first visit here in around 1990. The Gothic buildings are like something out of a fairy tale, and I don't think any other city has the same concentration of historic buildings.

    PRAGUE
Prague, the Czech Republic's capital city, is in the heart of Europe. Known as "Praha" in Czech, it is located on the banks of the Vltava River. The city is renowned for its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant cultural scene.
Prague's history dates back over a millennium to the 9th century. Throughout its long history, it has been a political, cultural, and economic center of central Europe.
The city is famous for its well-preserved medieval core, including the iconic Prague Castle, the world's largest ancient castle. The castle complex includes St. Vitus Cathedral, Old Royal Palace, and several other historical buildings and museums.
Another significant landmark is the Charles Bridge, which connects the Old Town with the Lesser Town across the Vltava River. This stone bridge, completed in the early 15th century, is adorned with 30 statues of saints and offers picturesque cityscape views.
Prague's Old Town Square is a focal point of the city, featuring the Gothic Church of Our Lady before Týn and the Baroque St. Nicholas Church. The Old Town Hall, with its Astronomical Clock, is a major attraction. The clock, installed in 1410, is one of the oldest functioning astronomical clocks in the world.
The city's Jewish Quarter, known as Josefov, is rich in history and includes the Old New Synagogue and the Jewish Cemetery, reflecting Prague's significant Jewish heritage.
Prague's vibrant cultural life has numerous theatres, galleries, and music venues. The National Theatre and the Estates Theatre are prominent cultural institutions. The city is also known for its classical music heritage, with annual events like the Prague Spring International Music Festival.
Modern attractions include the Dancing House, a contemporary architectural landmark, and the Žižkov Television Tower, which offers panoramic city views.
Prague is also a center for education and research. It hosts Charles University, one of the oldest universities in Europe, founded in 1348.
The city is well-connected by public transport, including an extensive network of trams, buses, and a metro system. Prague’s Václav Havel Airport serves numerous international destinations, making the city easily accessible.
Prague's diverse culinary scene offers traditional Czech dishes such as goulash, dumplings, and international cuisine. The city is also known for its beer culture, with numerous breweries and gardens.
In summary, Prague is a city of historical significance, architectural beauty, and cultural richness. Its central European location, well-preserved landmarks, and vibrant cultural scene make it a noteworthy destination for visitors.
