Ghana has over the past 2 decades served as the Gateway to the African Homeland for Diasporans. Ghana’s claim to the position of the gateway to the Homeland is well-grounded in the fact that it was a major exit point for slaves on the West Coast in the period that the infamous trade took place.
The Pan-African Festival of Art and Theatre is a biennial celebration held to celebrate the strengths and resilience of African culture and achievements of Africans in spite of the transatlantic slave trade and its aftermath.
As part of this year's celebrations, a grand durbar was held to open the celebration which was attended by chiefs and people from across the country. The President, H.E. Nana Akufo Addo addressed the durbar as the guest of honour.

How can u come together if the past mistakes are not corrected .

  • @frimpong-mansodigreat1880

Mistakes we made in the past. We sold ourselves into slavery not considering the negative impact it would have on us throughout history. It's true that the black man is his own enemy. It's also good that we've come to realised that mistake we did about 400 years ago and have decided to tell our own story in a different way. We must reunite our people both on the African continent and the diaspora for a better Africa. Dr. Kwame Nkruma ( may his soul rest in peace) once said 'the black man is capable of managing his own affairs'. We know the contributions the black man is making in the development of the whole world. We can make Africa is best. We have almost everything in our motherland.... gold, cocoa, diamonds, oil, timber, salt and all. We must rise and build! Long live Africa...the people and the motherland.

@@AH-qd7bt Hahaha... don't forget that human trading existed in Africa far back before the Europeans invaded the continent. Slaves were not captured directly by the merchants. They were sold to them by the African conquerors. Of course our ancestors fought back but what did they fight for? I'm not blaming anyone here but I admit that we played a key role in the whole slavery saga.

@@frimpong-mansodigreat1880 They fought for freedom my brother. Don't forget undeniably facts in History that Yaa asantua the queen was captured in a war she lead against the British and she died in prison. Remember Samore and Baabatu who together with some Europeans invaders where actively invading villages. Man the manipulations, the decepticons and the power of the ammunition was strong But our ancestors fought back. Let us use those courage and resistance as examples to uplift ourselves rather than talking about few corrupt and brainwashed individuals. Yes there were slavery due to tribal wars and it is very common even in Europe and the world in general at that time it was more about expanding your empire But the Africans treat thier war captives as humans beings and some slaves got to becomes part of the tribe who captured them. It was not the same story on the other side and no enslaved African was able to run away from the captivity and tell the story. My brother i want you to use the word "some Africans " not "WE Africans" I have seen many times our stories got manipulated and painted in a way that will take the attention of the good side of our ancestors and using the term ""we Africans "" in a way put all Africans in one basket which is not right. Thanks bro
