Goat Milk Soap Recipe
Equipment
Stick blender
soap mold
Ingredients
3 ounces almond oil
2 ounces castor oil
10 ounces coconut oil
10 ounces olive oil
6 ounces palm oil
3 ounces shea butter
1 ounce beeswax
4.91 ounces lye
12 ounces goat milk (or combine 1 ounce powdered goat milk and 11 ounces water)
3 tablespoons butterfly garden fragrance (nurturesoap.com/collections/p...)
Instructions
1. Prepare the goat milk by freezing for a few hours until it reaches a slushy consistency.
2. Add the lye to the partially frozen milk and stir until completely blended. It will melt, heat up, and may change color. Set aside in a safe place.
3. Measure the oils, butters, and beeswax and melt over low heat until completely melted and heated to 140 degrees. Set aside to cool. Prepare your soap mold and any color or fragrance you are using.
4. When the milk and oils have cooled to about 110 degrees, pour the milk into the melted oils and blend using a stick blender. Mix until "trace" is achieved, or the soap thickens slightly and a trail of soap rests on top of the batter rather than immediately sinking in. Add desired fragrance or color, stirring in by hand.
5. Pour into soap mold, gently smoothing out top. Place in fridge or freezer to avoid cracking. Un-mold after 24 hours, cut into bars, and allow to cure for 2 weeks before using.

Be sure to follow safe soap making: wear gloves, googles. long sleeves. and work in a well-ventilated space. Take care that any raw soap or lye stays out of the reach of children.

This is the best goat milk recipe I have seen, most recipes use a very small amount of goat milk and mostly water, thank you for sharing!
Thank you! This looks like an amazing soap! 😊👍🏼🧼🐐🥛
you are welcome garrett! hope you try it!
I love all your videos and recipes! THANKS SO MUCH for sharing !! Hello from Dominican Republic!
Beautiful!!
Beautiful soap. Thanks Katie. 💖🧼
you are welcome jill! ❤️
I love your soap recipes! Your instructions are very clear and simple to follow. Can you do a “clean up” video to show us how you clean your equipment? I’m especially interested to learn how to safely clean the container/glass measuring cups that come in contact with the powdered lye and the lye mixture. Thanks so much!
sure i can do a video on that soon! i just rinse out the cups with the lye in the sink, lye is actually used to declog drains so it should be fine honestly. for everything else, i let it sit a few days until it turns to soap and doesn't have raw lye, then i wash it out by hand. :)
You can make your lye days before. Do its not hot. No need to freeze milk. Same as oils. Make ahead of time.
I’m going to make this with my sister when she comes for a visit
Question ⁉️ Why aren't you using Gloves and Long sleeves while mixing the Lye⁉️
Because she is an expert.
@@kathrynletchford5114 lmao 🤣😂So are Piolets and Scientists yet mistakes happen. Things blow up & get burned.
@@kathrynletchford5114 an expert 🤔but not a good example for her viewers 🤦♀️
Love this video can't wait to try! Can I substitute tallow for the palm and mango butter for the shea? Also for essential oils would it be the same amount instead of fragrance oil?
Thanks for sharing your are amazingly talented.❤❤❤
thanks ian!
Very simple. I like your channel.
Its my favorite GM recipe.. gorgeous soap
thank you SO much deborah! it's become one of my favorites too.
Thanks for the great videos!!!!!!
To obtain a light scent of lemon for the soap recipe, can you suggest an amount of young living essential oil(lemon)for one batch of your cold process goat milk soap recipe?
Hey! Great tutorial. Is fresh goats milk better quality than powdered goats milk?
how many months or weeks would this soap be good to use for ? is it degrees F or C ?
Hi, thanks for your formula. Could you please recommend a substitute for palm oil? I don't use it for ethical reasons.
Thank you for sharing such a lovely recipe. If I need to leave out the beeswax, do I need to replace it with another ingredient? Thank you #HappySoaping
Thank u for sharing. What’s the benefit of using bee’s wax? Thank u.
what can I use instead of palm and the beeswax? can you do a video on how to substitute oils?
Are you able to substitute the beeswax for something else?
If I have my goats milk in ounce ice cubes I can just add it to the lye right
Can you make a goat milk and lavender soap video? thanks 😄
Hi! I'm loving your channel. Can you tell me if the goat milk can be substituted for powdered coconut milk? Also, when it calls for coconut oil, is it coconut oil 76 from soap suppliers or another kind? Thanks🙂
Can you do a goat milk and lavender soap video
thanks😃
Do you count the beeswax as oil as well? That’s why the difference.
Can you tell me why, when I put this recipe through the soap calculator the goat milk amount differs?
You have such beautiful recipes thanks for sharing them ..I love how they are so moisturizing and make a good hard bar ..God bless
thank you such much jo and yes i love bars on the harder side too!
I just did a goat milk soap and put frozen goat milk and lye in an ice bath to defer heat
do you cell your soaps
Can I do soy wax vs bees wax
Is this safe for babies? I’ve been trying to find non toxic baby shampoos/lotion but I can’t find a single one that doesn’t have fragrance or other bad chemicals. And te all natural ones have essential oils that babies can’t handle if they’re under a year. Any suggestions or recipes would be appreciated
Can it be made without palm oil?
No gloves? Beautiful soap, by the way! :)
OMG! Shut up! Worry about your fingers!
Cantwait to try this. Is powdered goats milk typically sold in grocery stores? Thanks Katie,
i looked in ours and couldn't find it but it's not a "nice" grocery store 😂. i think the bigger/ fancier types carry it
Ok thanks! I will check around. If I cant find it, I will order online. Im glad this recipe calls for shea butter and beeswax. I have those ingredients, but haven’t tried them yet.
Can we change the goat milk for other types of milk? Like coconut milk?
You can
When you put the soap in the fridge do you cover it
i don't
I’m new to soaping and I have a question about the lye? It says 4.91 ounces but my scale doesn’t add up to that but 4.9. I appreciate any help navigating this.
I had the same problem. I did 4.9 then keeping the tare on i did the .1 separately.
Do you leave it in the refrigerator for 24 hours, thank you another amazing video
Yes
Thank you
Can I replace the palm oil with olive oil. And what can I use besides 1oz of beeswax?
Yes you can use any oil you wish.
It’s to difficult to find soap suppliers in Canada due to the high price of shipping 🥺😭
Hi! Can you add things such as oatmeal to the soap , and when would it be incorporated?
I don’t have any beeswax, would this recipe work leaving it out?
as far as i know, if you are replacing the oils in the recipe, you need to recalculate the recipe using soap calculator such as soapcalc.net ... replacing the oil will impact the amount of water & NaOH
Yes it works it just doesn’t get to hard
Can you just add the goats milk powder without mixing it with water into your oils? Also is the beeswax added to harden the bar?
yes...i saw in kapia mera soap channel, powdered goat milk added into oil..can also add liquid goat milk into oil, where the goat milk amount is half of the total water amount
Can we substitute oils in this recipe, like instead of apricot, can we use lavender?
Apricot would be part of the recipe, it’s a carrier oil. Lavender would be part of the fragrance oils. You could substitute the lavender for any other essential oil for fragrance. You could probably use another liquid veg oil in place of the apricot; like jojoba, olive, etc. I’ve tried different oils in equal amounts in soap recipes
No gloves! 🖐
Can i skip beeswax ?
I wanted to skip beeswax too but its important. I had trouble melting it I was wondering if melt it separately should I warm the other oils before combining I tried pouring them over my melted beeswax and the beeswax started to firm up again
I wound up melting them all together anyway.
Why beeswax?
Is it just me or did you not wear gloves while working with lye? Thx
Where is printed recipe?
Thank you ,this looks amazing soap please can you make a gentle soap for new born using breast milk
Safety is important and you can do it without gloves if you dont splash it all over yourself. If you want to wear gloves then do it but dont preach to her or anyone else. I add muratic acid to my pool weekly whichis caustic abd dint run for my gloves and also dont pour it high abd vreath it in. Splitting hairs people!
thank you! love it! i laugh to myself every time i make soap without gloves and live to tell the tale.
@@HeartsContentFarmhouse are you selling your soap
If you are making a soap Tutorial that others are learning from…Then YES you must wear gloves. Bad habit to teach to beginners that may find this channel.
I have made soap without gloves too, but I’m also not making videos for beginners to watch and learn from. BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE INFORMATION YOU PUT OUT AND WEAR GLOVES.
Oh wheres your gloves when using lye
The soap looks great, but why aren't you wearing gloves while mixing and eventually adding your lye? You mention safety considerations, but don't wear gloves. Hmmm.
You start out this video explaining how important safety equipment is when working with lye but you yourself don't wear gloves with dealing with lye or creating your soap mixtures? :(
That's because you have to day that. I have never worn gloves or goggles, once, while making soap, because I am not a clux. 😂
Can you use essential oils from young living to add scent to your soap? thanks 😁
Great tutorial but I cringe while you’re making the soap without gloves!
Especially with the lye solution in such a shallow dish. 🙁
Sorry, but the lack of gloves when handling lye solution is really setting a terrible example. I won't be watching any more of these videos.
