I think everybody knows Genesect is/will be broken each gen. The damn thing is just so cool/well-designed that people want to use it so badly anyway.

It keeps coming back because gensect is fun to use so everyone seems to unconsciously collectively agreed to test it back every generation in hopes that its not too broken this time.
The thing is, it’s fun to use exactly because of how broken it is lol
new generation ou is never fun because of the new mons. it's fun because for a brief moment, the OUBL Gods are unchained.

People 30 seconds later after said outclassed mon no longer needs to find a niche, and just use what made the thing better than it good, and are getting swept by Extreme Killer Arceus-Bug:
"Fun" is one way of putting it. I for one, don't like getting steamrolled by the broken Ultra Beasts or the garbage Deoxys forms. Shoot, I remember a time where even Deoxys Defense was briefly allowed one generation and it made me want to quit the game it was so frustrating to play against.
Hell no battle of stats? Game has so much depth and mechanics non used, you can almost know everyones move set cause they just copy stuff on smogon

As an enjoyer of bug pokemon, Genesect is and has stayed my favorite legendary forever now
Using banded Genesect in the early Crown Tundra days, alongside Lando-I and Power Construct Zygarde, must've been some of the most fun I've ever had in Showdown. Spamming U-Turn was criminally fun

What I’ve noticed is that borderline ou/uber mons tend to be banned once they have multiple strong sets. Like magearna stayed in ou for a while with it’s AV set until it also gained the setup set which got it banned.
Yeah with predictable counter the tier does manage to deal with such absurdly strong mons but with multiple sets that's not possible.
I even ran a scarf Magerna, it's a pretty shit set on paper BUT worked pretty well for some reason.
There are no bad scarfers. Only good scarfers and surprise scarfers
It is rumored that abilities like intimidate, speed boost, download, intrepid sword are getting nerfed to be usable just once in a battle. That could make Genesect OU, if it ever happens

I remember when genesect was banned from gen 8 there was a glitch for a couple of hours that you could use drive genesect
I spammed the daylights out of douse drive until it was fixed
When I was a kid all I wanted was a genesect (I didn’t have wifi so I couldn’t get it) I spent all of 4th grade walking the streets, the only kid without it. Later when gameshark had gone on sale, a certain little boy walked the streets with 6 level 100 genesects
I remember using Genesect with Dugtrio and Mega-Gengar in the early days of Gen 6 OU, it was the most ridiculous team and was so easy to use.

If there was not enough explosion here there will be more if Genosect comes back in Scarlet and Violet with the new mechanic and no matter what he was before, he will be more broken if he remains to have Download and same statistical spread.
Cant wait for Gen 9, where surely this time power creep and little nerfs will have made genesect healthy for ou THIS time!
With how much Game Freak has been willing to nerf/remove in the past gen I would not even be surprised if this somehow became the case. If not in SV then maybe a gen after

I like these types of vids man. It’s clear you put a lot of effort into narrating this nicely and it pays off kn my opinion. I can could to this the entire day
I honestly can see why Genesect was always at least tested while Mewtwo wasn't. I had to look up its stats and, tbh, just looking at the stats alone, it doesn't seem that bad. Extremely strong for sure, but hampered by low (somewhat) HP and a rather low speed even at the time of its introduction. Mewtwo has 80 extra BST that patches up exactly these two areas making it immediately apparent how strong it is, whereas Genesect has a few very specific tools that push it there. U-Turn + Download are just insanely versatile, and even moreso with well distributed stats.
In a way, I like Genesect, because it shows that you don't need higher than normal stats to be abnormally powerful. It's really "just" a technically enhanced ancient bug that uses some of the best tools of its two unified halves - U-Turn being possibly the best thing coming from Bug type and Download being an uncharacteristically digital ability.

Genesect made gen 5 so miserable while it was legal. I remember each game just coming down to whoever's genesect was left standing

Genesect is just a darn cool design and thats why we wanna keep it.
I remember BW Dream World OU as one of the most fun metagames ever. Genesect, Shadow Tag Chandelure and Sand Rush Excadril may each be broken on their own, but they're kind of fine when you also allow the rest of them.
Throw in Darkrai, Deoxys-A, Ladorus-I, Shaymin-S, Speed Boost Blaziken, Mega Lucario, Mega Kangaskhan, Magearna, Garchomp, Soul Dew, Swift Swim, Baton Pass and everything else that has ever been tested in OU even briefly, and you'd have a proper OUBL metagame. Oh, and no-preview Zoroark too.

Genesect is CURSED! Doomed to forever be unbanned at the start of the generation but banned again once it really gets underway. I still love it though...for the whole couple of weeks that it's in OU.
I hope in the future a Pokémon Legends for Unova release and know how was Genesect originally.

It’s stupid Genesect didn’t get a Paradox form
I can understand Genesect being unbanned in every gen, except Gen 8. I can see why since it gets suspect tested/quickbanned and it doesn't perform as well in Ubers (even in Gen 8). Since at that point, a lot of people were aware of how this mythical is. Considering its good bulk, defensive typing, wide movepool, Download, and mixed attacking stats which make it unpredictable what set it has, it was pretty clear it was very oppressive in OU.

I mean, people allowed PHEROMOSA for months in OU who is basically a fighting type Genesect. It's not all bad news though, since that mon made one of the most intriguing mons in OU popular: GALARIAN SLOWKING.

Still love the movie that introduced the extreme speed shiny version. Single handedly made banded Genesect go from excellent to ridiculous. Did not matter if others ran scarfers or revenge killers.

I only started playing in gen 8 but the three days that genesect was legal made me realize why it gets banned every gen. It was clearly centralizing even with all the other broken stuff that were introduced in the same DLC like Lando-I and Pheromosa.

I know this is kinda odd but I have nowhere else to say this, I got randomly traded this genesect from the Pokémon movie 13 back in 2013, that has every single ribbon a player can have on it. It’s also shiny.
What I really like about Genesect is despite it being broken, it's not a Pokemon that can be spammed with brute force and direct attacks by noobs unlike other uber Pokemons. It is broken if you use it right which is what makes it my favorite Pokemon. Or in short, Genesect is an uber Pokemon that many noobs aren't aware of.
Genesects biggest weakness is definitely phat boys, and team building somehow just thinning it out forcing it to not run ungodly mixed sets. Like Ubers now. I find the most usage in boots, shift gear uturn. Like whatever coverage I want, prob Thunder, isn’t gonna get the job done vs hooh, it absolutely would vs Corv lmao.

In bw2 Ubers I ran lead scarf darkrai with hp fire to deal with this monster. Thankfully 99% of genesect users were monkey brains back then and always led with it bc otherwise it would run amuck

I mean ANY Pokémon where you can change the typing almost at Will is broken. Genesect however has a move that turns into STAB and changes with the type.

Abilities that's give free Attack boosts (Download, Soul Heart, Moxie, Grim Neigh, Beast Boost, Intrepid Sword, Gorilla Tactics) are bad design and should be deleted from the game or at least be nerfed to only happen once per battle). Look how many mons have this kind of ability and get banned from either OU or Ubers (Zacian). Also the main reason I can't stand Kartana and Blacephalons presence in OU. Tapu Lele is strong but it can't snowball or sweep faster teams.
Moxie, Chilling/Grim Neigh and Beast Boost aren't free boosts, especially in the match's early stages. You need to directly KO your target to get a boost. There are plenty of those users that are not banned. No Moxie user has ever been banned from OU (Salamence was only banned in DPP, before Moxie existed) and only two Beast Boost users are banned from OU. The sole Grim Neigh user banned from OU heavily benefited from Pursuit being deleted.
Soul Heart on the other hand gives a boost even if they knock themselves out.
@@TheOtherNeutrino Pursuit didn't stop Spectrier from getting banned form Nat Dex OU. It's absurdly restrictive due to it's offensive stats and decent bulk. It Offensive stats are higher than Darkrai's who is already too fast and strong for OU.
