    Thank you so much I have tried so many things I did changed the speedo and two sensors with no luck ............ today will go home and follow the wires hopefully can find the problem in the junction box. This was a pain to drive a car for two years without speedo meter.

    Yours did the trick man thanks for this video! Drove it to like 4 different places and had to go back twice lol. Worked every single time and it's not spotty anymore. Now waiting for the drive cycle to complete so the damn check engine light stay off and I can inspect and re-register this pos.

    I bought a 2007 kia spectra for my son and it has the same problem 100's of them have. that wire from sensor runs through the Junction box and then to the speedometer. if your speedometer works fine in cold weather or when you first star tit up until the motor warms up then most likely its the connection in the junction box that is loosing continuity from corrosion or heat expansion. Basically what he did was run a jumper wire directly from sensor to speedometer connector. You can use any single conductor wire with good primary insulation as long as it is at least the size of the original sensor wire. They sell simple crimp style connectors that will splice your new bypass wire into the old wire. I would use single conductor 16 gauge wire. its cheap enough and should handle it just fine. If your ambitious enough you could find the wire going into the junction box and out of the junction box and splice a short jumper across them cause the bad spot is usually in the junction box itself and that would save you from tearing the dash apart.

      Thank you so much we have Spectra 2008 ....... hot weather and also in cold weather if the engine warm up the speedo meter stops and you can feel that the gear is not working properly as I found that the gear gets signal from two sensors to operate. Today will check the junction box thanks again Jeffery.

    Thanks! Every mechanic told me to change the speed sensor and cluster. Ran a diagnostic with a friends diagnostic computer and everything checked out. Bypassed the green and orange wire so far speedometer has not shutdown after getting hot.

    The speed sensor is actually located down low on back side of the motor on the 2005 Kia Spectra. There are two sensors on top under the air cleaner and one further back and down. The further back sensor has three wires that route into the same wire protection plastic wrap as the back sensor on top. If you separate the plastic wire protection you will find the wire that goes to the sensor lower down. The wire color is the green with orange strip. Connect the wire from here to the wire on back of the cluster as show in video.

    Great video and insight. Suggestion: Hold the camera horizontally (correct) instead of vertical. Holding it vertical is called Portrait mode and is rarely used in photography. Holding the camera horizontal is correct and provides the optimum aspect ratio and video resolution. This allows full screen video instead of a vertical swath. More detail. Recording vertical only uses 20% of the screen on quality PC's. Hope this helps.

    guys let me help you out here. if you need to locate the vehicle speed sensor wire just take a multi meter. put it on ac not dc and back probe the wires of the speed sensor. when you start moving the car the ac voltage will rise. there is the wire you need to splice into. you can also take the instrament cluster out pack probe the wires of the biggest harness from the instrament cluster and do the same when the voltage goes up thats the speedometer wire thats coming from the vehicle speed sensor. hope this helps

      Are you Brazilian?! I'm with the same problem in my Spectra/Cerato ... is not it sensor problem or panel then ?! Is it the cable ?! I'm going to make this jump to see if it works ... it works fine in the morning, after the car goes around a bit and it gets hot, then it drops to 0 on the speedometer.

    FYI to 2006 + owners The wire is in a different spot on the 20 pin capacity connector. The color is the same on the back of the cluster but it is pink on the sensor. I also found that the pink wire was severed approximately 3 inches down the wire from the sensor, so I just fixed (soldered) it there to complete the repair.

  • @larryleisuresuit9584
    @larryleisuresuit9584 Před 6 lety

    This is super funny. no indication of what problem you have or how you came to that conclusion. just replace a wire. LOL what if the plugs undone? what if the speed sensors bad? what if the ECu is not reading the sensor because of ground issues ? OR could be the actual unit in the dash has a problem.
    i just came back here because I watched this first and then went to watch others and saw there were many issues that can cause a non working speedometer this was the funniest because the first step is not diagnosis of the problem. LOL it;s we gonna remove some screws. The vacuum wire was funny as well. there might have been no problem at all except for the plugs were lose or corroded and connection got broken, you might have fixed it just by disconnecting and reconnecting and the rest of all that may not even have been necessary . You know what I mean, like going out to the garage , saying this car is not running without checking anything at all, popping the hood replacing a spark plug and the using your key to start it and drive away then declaring the car was not running but you fixed it by replacing that spark plug. LOL
    What happen? LOL

      Larry Leisuresuit well i have a second video showing the problem. Before i did this one I changed all the other parts. Nothing worked so from my research tgis was the only solution. Yeah i know the vacuum electrical wire is a bit much but that's what i had.

    • @larryleisuresuit9584
      @larryleisuresuit9584 Před 6 lety

      Oh i see! yeah, i didn't catch that other vid, it didn't come up on my search. Also, still have not figured out what the hecks up with this one here, it;s spectra also, it;s a 2004 but late 2004 so everything almost, is 2005 stuff so it;s a mixed part BS Korean Nightmare. LOL I think I might have messed something up last week, I clanged the thermostat, new radiator, new pulleys and tensioner, water pump and time chain. so probably messed something up when i was doing all that on the side of the engine with the thermostat. i will check it out tomorrow. Hopefully it will be something easy or i will have to go mug somebody for their 12 volt vacuum so ole girl here can have her Kia Like yours. LOL
      this video did help me a little bit, let me know how many wire plugs were behind the console without having to take all that all apart . so Thanks for that.
