Memorandum between UNC and COCOMI

  • #Manipur UNC and COCOMI unanimously resolved to work toward restoring peace and normalcy in the State:
    Representatives of the United Naga Council (UNC) and Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) met CM at 5:00 pm on 18th July 2023, in the presence of Minister Khasim Vashun, MLA and Chairman Hills Area Committee Dinganglung Gangmei, and MLA S.S Olish.
    COCOMI by owning up to moral responsibility, expressed regret over the brutal killing of Mrs Lucy and tendered a sincere apology before the Naga delegates led by the UNC.
    CM N. Biren also condemned the inhuman crime and shared his grief and sympathy with the family members of the late M. Lucy and with the representatives of UNC. CM assured that justice will not only be done but also be seen to be done.
    The following was agreed between UNC and COCOMi:
    1. To ensure that the culprit shall be taken into custody and given befitting punishment by the law.
    2. UNC agreed to suspend all forms of agitation and extend cooperation to the police to facilitate the early completion of the investigation.
    3. COCOMI shall initiate efforts to ensure that no such untoward incident occurs in future.
