  • Traditional Mongolian Music. During our "Help for Heroes" H4H Horse Riding Challenge we visited Kharkhorum, the ancient capital of Mongolia. The ethnic traditional Mongolian group "Kharkhorum" consists of talented musicians who perform a variety of songs including throat singing (khumei), long songs, short songs and solo performances on the moriin khuur (horse head fiddle), yatga (zither), yoochin (dulcimer) and a Mongolian contortionist.

I love that womans voice when she sings the mongolian short song. Her voice is super powerful and strong, Ive had it stuck in my head for two days straight.

Maria Fahlsing - There are a few similar instruments of that type. Most western cultures may call it a hammered dulcimer, but others may have their own more traditional names.

My... most esoteric feelings are your comment isn't in tune with this music's legacy. With hate out of the equation (strong choice of a word), killing for conquest and warring on was the Mongol way since tribal unification. Still the Khagans were extremely and openly tolerant with foreign culture, which is one of many reasons why they deserve respect, thing I straightly offer to their memory... even if I carry not a single drop of blood of their heritage. Hail Temuzhin!

Mongolians inhabitant a vast treeless landscape of thousands of miles. Only 2.8 million people live here making this per density the most uninhabited place in the world. They conquered Rome. They had small tough ponies to ride and powerful bows. Today they are free from Communism and yearn to leave their country for better prospects. This music will soon be gone.
