I could not locate any downloadable manuals from the website as stated in the video.

      Thank you for your question.
The instruction manuals are available from the web page of the Elcometer gauge you would like to see the instructions of.
So, if you go to the Elcometer 456 page on the website (there’s a link below you can click on), in the top right of the page there is the “Instruction Manual” button. It’s between “Accessories” and “Data Sheet”.
If you click on “Instruction Manual” you then have the choice of the full instruction manual, the user guide, and the quick user guide - which you can view or download.
      Elcometer 456 page: www.elcometer.com/en/coating-inspection/dry-film-thickness/dry-film-thickness-digital/elcometer-456-coating-thickness-gauge.html

I understand that the term "calibration" used in this video is "customer calibrate" and should be called "gage adjustment" in accordance with ASTM D7091. Technically, only Elcometer or its approved center/accredited lab can "calibrate" this gage. Now, I would like to get guideline step by step on "verification of accuracy"! Does verification of accuracy require factory reset as the first step ( to eliminate all gage adjustment before) ?

      Thank you for your comment.
As you say, the true calibration of a dry film thickness gauge can only be done by the manufacturer, an authorised agent of the manufacturer, or an authorised calibration laboratory. The calibration must be carried out in controlled conditions following a documented procedure. The gauge should be re-calibrated from time to time, but that period depends very much on the frequency of use of the gauge and the quality policy of the company using the gauge.
The word calibration, when related to user set-up of the gauge, is used throughout the industry, however, the correct term is verification, as used in the standards.
In this video we use the terminology employed by most manufacturers, and use the word calibration when referring to user verification.
As for verification of accuracy, you should check the gauge throughout its measurement range using Elcometer certified foils and the gauge's in-built calibration routines.
If you have any further questions on which calibration routine to use, and what foils to use, please contact techsales@elcometer.com or visit www.elcometer.com/contact-us to find your local Elcometer distributor.

    Hello There,
I have a clarification of DFT check as given below:
    - Surface profile: 65 microns by Testex Tape.
    - Coating System: Only IOZ Primer with 65 microns minimum
To verify the DFT of IOZ primed surface, DFT gauge to be calibrated on ZERO Plate of profiled BMR surface? because when I check the DFT gauge on profiled surface I get average 30 microns reading.
it means IOZ Primer minimum 65 microns + 30 BMR = 95 microns minimum. (Is it correct?)

      Thank you for your comment.
For measurements on a blasted surface we’d recommend a 2 point calibration using foils either side of the coating thickness, so for a 65 micron coating we would recommend using a 25 micron and 125 micron foil.

The Elcometer 456 measures coating thickness on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
