Welcome to the Letterman CZcams Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. The language may strike you as quaint & flowery, the clothing comically lacey & ornate - but that’s how things were back in this colorful and now bygone era. - Zábava
At 10:28 you hear him say "it wasn't me" in reference to making the basketball shot, at the time of viewing the audience wouldn't have known what he meant by that, now the story about hearing his recently deceased brothers voice in his head gives it a poignant context.
I picked up on that too! It choked me a little. TV gold.
poignant indeed
I remember watching that when it aired and wanting it replayed on yt. That wasn’t me line got me right in the feels.
I never saw that fake Oprah opening before, that is hysterical
I had totally forgotten about it - as well as the original, which they were parodying.
RIP Kenny, and Pat, thank you for your contribution to the show in front of and behind the camera. Oooh. Ooh, ooh, ooh. Wow.
Now we know why Pat said, "It wasn't me," when he hit that shot. Great stuff.
That's amazing. That's why it's great hearing these behind-the-scenes stories.
Finally! Pat is such a treat, and we could not be happier he’s being highlighted in this forum. Also…that voice. Wouldn’t it be nice to have him read a story to you as you fell asleep?
That voice! Always low-key friendly when I chatted with him on the street. I caught up with him once, looking straight ahead, never at him, matching his stride, and said, "Pat Farmer, in your wildest moments would you ever believe what you've done?" "Never." We both laughed, and I slipped away.
@@irenehoffman2190 Very cool NYC moment. A nice way to acknowledge celebrities without bothering them. Another is eye contact, head nod, then ignore them completely. 🗽 BTW how great that on Dave's show, the prop guy became a celebrity. Be well, stay awesome. 🌆
My favourite Pat Farmer quote: " You go, girl!"
RIP, Kenny.
Pat and Kenny reading Oprah transcripts was one of the great all-time bits. It was dependably hilarious. And I love hearing the backstories -- including about Biff and his Freudian slip. That just makes everything funnier.
Miss You Kenny
RIP Kenny Sheehan and also Tony Mendez (The cue card guy)
I loved Pat and Kenny read Oprah Transcripts with Kenny;s cigarette hanging out of his mouth "You Go Girl" lol
PAT!!! Ahhh! It's nice to see Pat again! (Rest in peace, Kenny.)
To this day Pat and Kenny read Oprah Transcripts is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
Pat and Kenny, the dynamic duo.
Pat and Kenny were among my favorites! So deadpan!
RIP Kenny
'Pat and Kenny Read Oprah Transcripts' may be my favorite recurring sketch during the Late Show years. Perfectly sold by their droll delivery.
PAT the GOAT!
what a legend
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE PAT FARMER!! YIPEE!
God this was such a great show. The peak of creativity on network tv.
I, for one, loved the Pat & Kenny segments!
Pat was nice enough to take a picture with me when I got to see Dave back in the early 00's. I always loved Pat & Kenny read Oprah transcripts!!!
Props to Pat, he actually looks a little younger than in the last years of Letterman... And that was eight years ago!
So hilarious. God those Oprah bits crushed it back in the day. 😂😂😂
Now this is why I loved the show!
Pat, you look FANTASTIC. Thanks for these (100% of which I actually recall) and for your hours of laughs. You and Kenny (RIP) always were literal showstoppers. And thanks for today's goosebumps. I did not know the backstory of the basketball drop...and your sotto voce 'it wasn't me' is so poignant knowing now what I and we all know. You're a class act and the show would not have been complete without you. Ditto for the entire 'cast' of course. Special memories.
RIP KENNY.
Pat, I think my favorite Late Night sketch ever was you returning a portable radio in an undercover consumer exposé story about defective merchandise.
You took it back to a street storefront and the clerk says something like 'well, there's no batteries in it, ya numbskull'.
Pat goes 'ohhhhh'.
@dongiller do you have that clip that you can share?
When Pat and his crew threw things off the roof of the Ed Sullivan theatre...it was a lot of little boy's fantasies. When he and Kenny read Oprah's transcripts, Kenny, with that ever present cigarette at the corner of his mouth, responding-" I hear ya, girlfriend. " Great, classic stuff.
Pat and Kenny are the best. Well, Biff and Gerard are, too. But Pat and Kenny are the best.
Poor Kenny, passed away in 2020. Would love to have seen him do this segment.
Fantastic! We need a second one of these with Pat. Hilarious then and hilarious now. This CZcams channel is such a treat.
OMG this is CLASSIC. Pat and Kenny. NOTHING rivals this on current late night. NADA.
Pat was a real big part of The Late Show. Brought me a ton of smiles over the years. Thanks Pat!
I would love to have seen the It Sort Of Sounds Like A Joke bit with Pat and another stagehand making a joke about the then-new King Kong movie which got into a silly joke about a hairy ape and the punch line was, "If I want to see a hairy ape, I'll go look at your wife." It then degenerated into name calling and the two stagehands wrestling each other on stage. Then, the announcer (which wasn't Alan Kalter) said, "It Sort Of Sounds Like A Joke has been brought to you by Havoline. Be there!" THAT was hysterical!
The foul mouth librarian is one of the funniest bits ever. I never knew what she did on the show!
Oh this was beautiful! Thank you so much, Mr. Farmer, for all your work on the show and for this wonderful video. And continued rest in peace, Kenny Sheehan.
Love hearing these stories…good memories.
Pat Farmer did a really good job on Dave's CBS show. He really made it special.
Greatest show on earth
Best ever!
Thank you so much for the laughs Pat! 👍♥️
I laugh so hard I cry 😅
So awesome. Love this so much. Classic Dave! Biff Henderson da man
Man, I woulda loved to have worked with this crew.....all of em seem like such swell folks
OMG, this was so good, from Biff using unsavory language to remembering the times I saw you Pat in/at the Hello Deli. I bet it was great working with Kenny. Loved the brother story- Thanks Pat. What makes this the greatest stuff of all time is that is was natural.
.Comedy Gold.
That story about his brother and the basketball shot is amazing. Great video as always.
So many great memories!
Oh man, did this show ever know how to mine the gold that was the incredible staff of characters they had. Thanks to Pat for all the laughs, as well as his heartfelt memories. So much real life lives behind the scenes. 👍❤
I love these staff moments. Pat’s favourites were brilliant. I loved it when they would throw stuff off the building! That was always such a spectacle. I was really hoping he was going to talk about “will it float” that was my favourite big prop sketch, hopefully another staff member will pick it!!
😂 The best!
Pat & Kenny read Oprah transcripts was comedy gold. LOL
Yay, so glad to see this. These staff moments are the absolute best. Thanks for sharing them.
Pat this is hilarious but also very moving too, thank you
“Our hearts are open wide!” 😅
Hilarious. I love Pat and Kenny. Good memories.
PAT! An icon.
Pat !!!!!
We love you Pat! And Kenny! ❤
Still quote Pat and Kenny's Oprah Transcript with Bette Midler: "Babydoll...babydoll...You look good...You look so good..." "I bet you were expecting a beefier girl."
Pat....you were always right on spot!!! And BTW, you look great! THANK YOU for the memories!
Lovely story about the basketball shot. Now we know what you meant.
This literally took my breath away with snot spewing laughter!
The expression on Kenny’s face at 12:52 definitely says, “I just drank an entire bottle of wine”.
I missed some of these shows and I didn't know Pat and Kenny sang.
It's not Pat Farmer, it's Pat Fahmah
THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Destroying the pinball machine is just wrong.
Gottlieb's The Amazing Spider-man. They made almost eight thousand of them so they're not hard to find.
@@WalterDiamond Actually, the machine was Gottlieb’s “Joker Poker” from 1978.
This was so great. Thank you so much, Pat. Miss you guys and all the idiotic hijinks. I'm deeply moved about the bro basketball story. And still laugh out loud at the violence of Pat's candid camera show. Two big thumbs up bro.
SOOO GOOD
Amazing!
Having Bob Keeshan standing on the ground at the :40 point would have so perfect!
This man looks like Clint Eastwood sorta. Love you Pat
I truly believe that people in Boston and New York are the funniest ordinary people in the USA and people get less funny as you go west and south
I loved pat Farmer and his buddy. I believe the dark haired one possibly died because all of a sudden he was gone. They were so hilarious
I wish i could have been old enough to stay up to watch letterman when he was on. Versus the utter crappie late night garbage shows that are on now. Please come back letterman.
Does anyone know how Kenny passed? I looked here in-line and found bios but no mentioning of cause of death
Peggy is so foul-mouthed!
LoL
3:33 Anyone know what year Pat’s “PANTS” jacket was issued? The dark blue, with Red letters? It was a cast and crew jacket I think?
Look out Laurel & Hardy.
I wonder what kind of special permit you need to throw things off the Ed Sullivan Theater...
Hilarious! 😂

And then Oprah went and stole the Pat and Kenny song, trying to pass it off as her own.
Still f*ckin’ funny.
Didn’t the ashes from Kenny’s cig burn one of the transcripts one time?

I'm sitting here criticizing every one of these roof drops for being too messy, unnecessary, etc...and it hit me that I've gotten old.
I was never critical, but I always wondered about clean-up.
Im with you. The pingpong balls do look majestic though, would love to see golf balls…😅
:)
