It’s cool to see how your sense of style has changed over the years. I subscribed when I was really into redwing and you were the redwing go to guy but much like you I no longer find myself as much into redwing. I only ever bought the 875 and I still love to wear them but I don’t see myself buying from red wing again any time soon. I’m also transitioning from skinny jeans into straight cut jeans but I still own a couple of skinny jeans that I wear with very specific outfits.
Best thing is to buy quality and less fast fashion clothing. My 20s was all fast fashion 😔
Hey CJ love the black cherry. My go to luccese smooth quill ostrich ropers, goin' on 30 yrs original sole, like slippers. That ostrich is tough as hell.
Shame what happened to RW. All they've been releasing for years now is different color leathers/moc toes, slapping a wedge sole on anything in sight while murdering what they built with the introduction of the heritage line. They don't seem to have the right direction/take risks. MTO option would be perfect really. They wouldn't have to produce an entire line of the boot unless demand called for it, would also be a way to let the customer show them what is popular and give them design ideas. I'm sure many people would post their RW makeups all over the internet giving them free/viral marketing.
I’d rather custom order from Red Wing than the PNW brands. The market is certainly there now for a made to order program.
And I agree their last collab release with JXTA or whatever - looked more like a fashion sneaker at best - 👎🏼… they need to dip back into the company Heritage for some modern classics - like a modern take on sky trooper for example. But a made to order program would make total sense with digitally streamlined customers. They’re out of touch.
@@PhantomofTheOctagon Read my mind with the sky trooper. Like isn't that what the heritage line is all about in the end? And they definitely are appealing more to main stream fashion. Trying to grab the street wear sneaker/hype beast crowd and it's going to sink the line. They're not paying 3 bills for shoes unless it comes with that hype.
Wolverine had a custom option with the 1000 Mile boot which I thought was brilliant. Red Wing is definitely missing out on that market.
Of subject. If I’m an 8.5 in the rw moc toes. What size would I be in the 8 last. Not sure if any of the round toes would fit
That was quite the intriguing "backstory" on your fashion and style choices. I am quite serious. The insight is/was fascinating especially observing your reactions to things that you don't like. And on that note- I will catch you next time. Thanks for sharing. Be A Boot!
Cool CJ Boot history! When I take my dog out I grab my rubber pull on, my road is dirt and I don't want to get expensive boots full of mud otherwise I would get some cool pull on boots! Thanks CJ!
I have a couple pairs of pull-on boots. I do like the convenience of a pull-on. But I've been wearing lace-ups for so long that my pull-ons just never feel "right" to me. I like my foot to be really secure, almost tight. Maybe I just haven't found the right fit for me for a pull-on.
Also, I've always been a straight leg pants kind of guy ... I never got suckered into that skinny jean thing. LOL
Style is evolving..usually
Means you are making more money or you are just more selective now going for quality not quantity.
Great video! Thanks for addressing my questions. I completely get the custom boot thing, they're truly works of art. I guess that was the logical next step after buying the entire Red Wing catalog. Looking forward to your next boot creations.
I hear what you are saying when it came to the pandemic. I barely wear a suit anymore.
While I love the look of those Engineer boots you previously showed, I really don’t like the feeling of a boot taller than 6”.
I have a pair of black wesco morrisons and I really want those left field chocolate chinos 😬 I think I started looking too late they’re hard to find right now
Im also moving away from Red Wings. For casual wear i love the Grand Stone brand. Is a way better boot for almost the same cost. Also purchased a pair of Nicks.
You're sooooo right in regards with the guys wearing skinny jeans and I'd add too short. Simply horrible
I’ve been trying to find a jacket that is in tune with your current style. Leather is out of my price range and all those waxed canvas semi workwear jackets are just not what I’m looking for. What do you think would work?
Which style? Chore coat? Moto jacket ? Shorter side? Mid length? All weather type jacket?
@@CJCook im thinking a chore coat vibe with a lining. I have no idea who makes a heritage one
Where did you get your boots made in TX? I live in San Antonio and we have a few great boot makers but most notably Little's Boots. I've been slowly selling off most of my lace up's as well. I've got about 12 pairs of pull up boots (mostly cowboy) but the boots I keep reaching for are my 1983 Red Wing nail seat boots. Pre Pecos branding, I think the model # is 19221.
Do you still wear iron ranger boots or black Smith or any other rw boots that aren't moc toe?
I'd love to have boots custom fitted but my wallet doesn't have that much money in it, my Red Wing 875's and 8086 Iron rangers will have to do haha! 👢
Didn't you buy a pair of boots made with that baseball glove leather? If so, how are those looking now?
I certainly did! I beat those bad boys up pretty good. They need a condition. I will do an update.
Not wearing Moc Toes??!?! The blasphemy! 😂 Love red wing mocs... I can't get into cowboy boots, they look too feminine for me. Pecos is as far as I'll go... Red wing just needs to release more Iron Ranger colors and sole options, Plan toe options, etc.
Hey CJ what is the point of owning all of the denim that you do? It would be impossible to see any real wear on even half of them.
@@CJCook I'm sure you have asked this question to yourself about boots but have you ever thought about going through your wardrobe and really filtering it down to what you wear and cherish the most?
Matthew 13:45-46
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
Philippians 3:7-8
But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
Not random, just wanted to share with a thinker. Cherish sincerity because these days it’s scarce and has little worth. God bless you.
Forget RW. Now you’re obsessed with wesco haha. The same is happening to them. Quality control going down, prices going up. Forgetting their roots. Then you gonna get obsessed with some Japanese brand and make a video of why you’re selling all your wesco. “The stitches aren’t perfect” … good luck in the journey…
Advice: focus on what you like and less on what you don’t like. If someone wants to wear tight jeans it’s okay. Live and let live. And less homophobic remarks …
Hahahaha! That would be pretty funny! I do love my Japanese brands but I am too dedicated to U.S. made products.
I am nowhere near homophobic. I am merely speaking a style silhouette being slick and clean. It would be silly for me to be antigay. Homosexuality is like being left-handed these days. It is like..."You are gay? ...Yeah so what?"
@@CJCook not that you’re homophobic, but some remarks are and reinforce this. I follow you because of the content. It’s very good. But please don’t fall into this superiority complex trend of some heritage CZcamsrs that feel better than other people just because they wear Japanese denim pants with no elastic, shinki engineer boots or 2000dls jackets. To each their own. You seem smarter than that.
also nobody talks about how the gay community basically saved wesco and langlitz before they started targeting their products to the Americana nerds/hipsters/fashion conscious millennials… wesco boots and langlitz uniform is the holy grail of leather daddy uniforms. That would be a nice episode in your channel. ✌🏼 ❤️
Implying that tight trousers on a man looks feminine is a homophobic remark? How absurd. Get a grip, man.
I am astounded you came away from this video with the feeling of homophobia. If that's the case, I assume you would find your air conditioning homophobic as well. Don't fall into this superiority complex where you have to pontificate your moral greatness on how one should express their opinions of style and what is homophobic. I think it is obvious your not capable of discussing either reasonably. Were here to talk about boots, not to have your activism shoved down our throat. You seem better than that. Save that for actual examples homophobia and I would be right there cheering you on.
Haha, I'm the same way, I think tight pants on a guy looks so feminine, terrible look for a man. Straight cut all the way.
The sound effects are pretty stupid. But when you have Nicks boots where you can customize your boot from outsole to the uppers it's hard to buy a boot of the rack from redwing store. I mean, you got Nicks, white's, vibergs, etc. A lot of heritage competition. It's hard to go back to regular boots. Not only that but now you got guys like Rose Anvil dissecting an entire boot and making amazing quality videos that you can no longer compete making your channel obsolete. My comment will probably get deleted.
I agree! I love that Nicks gives an option for arch support. There are a few boots made by Nick's that have caught my eye. The price is worth the quality for sure!!
Crazy to see I've been going in the same direction lately, mostly western wear, straight jeans, chelsea boots and pull ons. Classic
