On the Holi festival day, Kumar Gandharva used to give a free concert in Indore. Since the concert hall was behind my house, I attended all of his cocerts. He was musical God to us youngsters. I also had the pleasure to listen to Ajay Pohonkar as a young artist. Mr. Kirkire, with the tanpura, was a family friend. He & his wife were disciples of KG.

Deshpande introduced free style --Muktachhand (मुक्तछंद)-- poetry to Marathi literature. He also introduced in Marathi Dashapadi (दशपदी), a new genre of sonnets comprising ten lines. His collection of poems with the same name Dashapadi (दशपदी) received a Sahitya Akademi Award in 1977.

@yogeshwaryogeshwaryo. I agree that KG is musical divinity incarnate, but due precisely to that WE rather than he should bow, don't you think ? What a heavenly experience, indeed, listening to KG any time singing in any raaga ! outstanding upload, Avinash Desai.

@amindeepika Kavi Anil was a milestone in Marathi Poetry.father of Dashapadi, his earlier poetry was both romantic and idealistic. His critics had a complaint- "he is too easy to understand!"-tyanchi kavita Subodh aahe- durbodh naahi! I am however also an admirer of your granny- Kusumavati bai. I read their Kusumanil - a unique experiment this too- very early in life! Ajuni rusoon aahe- was it really a sort of obituary for Kusumavati?
