- The bitter and resentful George Hook continues his hate campaign to run down anything good that comes out of the Irish rugby camp. Today's target of his begrudging ill will is Jonny Sexton. Trying as hard as he can to spite the Leinster camp once again and showing an utter lack of knowledge about the skill of the players and the game ahead George once again makes an utter ass out of himself and he slurs and contradicts himself throughout the day.
As the Irish regional teams and players dominate the HC and the ML Hook's lack of fate in the (non Munster) players is hard to reason.
I'm English and Sexton has been the best 10 in the north since 2009. He is a complete player - he does everything very well - and he can tackle as well. ROG was world class at certain things but he could not tackle to save his life, and that was a main weakness. Sexton was the Lions starter in 2013 for a reason....
i agree as a irishman thing is he is a bag of bones poor lad and they all target him but he can do good things on hid dsy missing the kick in 2013 to beat all blacks was depressing , along with that idiot nigel jones fart

In fairness to Hook, at the time Sexton could not bring his provincial form into the international set-up. It happened again at the World Cup after this. Hindsight is a wonderful thing! We have two international class out-halfs at the moment. Hopefully when O Gara goes another will step up to the plate to challenge Sexton, whether it be Keatley, Madigan or Humphreys.

In fairness, Sexton was awful for the first few games of 6 Nations 2011. He definitely is our 1st choice now though, and that's from a Munster fan! Sexton must be Lions no. 10, or no. 12
I think we are very lucky to have 2 excellent players in sexton and o' gara who are available for ireland, so its a good problem to have!!
I love how he says trimble is a worry in defence whens hes probably one of the best defensive wings in europe!

Good to see some of you people can put provincial bias aside and give credit where its due. 100% leinster here, but ROG has been outstanding for us for YEARS and is still willing and able. Great to have the choice!

Sexton won't be the lions 10 because Gatland hates Ireland. we will be lucky to have 5 players on the plane! Merit means fuck all to him. But still fair play to him for what hes done in wales. Respect. I won't poopoo him as he does us.

ROG is getting older, that's the point. Kidney is partaking in team building as far as I can see. I think what he's doing is playing a long game. He brought in a lot of new talent when he started as coach and I, for one, think he was right to do it. Let time prove the man wrong or right. As far as comparing the two out-halves goes I think it's a hard thing to do because we haven't seen Sexton's heyday yet.
maybe george hook has too 'high standards' ... i believe its a great year for irish rugby to shine and make the country proud.. Small country but one of the top 10 in the world.
Of course Hook has a poor knowledge of rugby. He's from the Bleatingish Isles and he got beaten up by Tinkerbell as a teenager..

Hook may be picking on the wrong people in this clip. He's right about Kidney's loyalty it's part of a bigger problem that's killing this team. There's young guys bursting to come through, yet he fails to bring them through. His tactics do not play to the strengths of the guys he's got.
So? He's a fucking savage ball carrier, second rows don't need pace, its pure brute force and technique in the lineout.
Although I agree that for Ireland Sexton's kicking stats have been a bit shaky for Leinster they are up there with any goal kicker. Also he is a much better defender and running back than O'Gara. Different kind of player. O'Gara is class don't get me wrong but looking at all their qualities I would have Sexton in my team. Think of the H Cup final last year - and the video here. Just needs a bit more confidence in the Irish shirt.
Yeah but in the back row you have much more opportunity to carry the ball which is Ferris' main asset. Pace isn't necessary in the second row.
@raysaware Except he was right on Saturday Before and after the game. He forsaw a beating and he was right. There was no pressure on Ireland in this game and they where lucky against Austrialia.
pretty hard for Ferris to play 5 for Ireland when he isn't getting any game time there in ulster
I'd like to see Fitzgerald back in there at 11, think O'Driscoll could move into 12 and keep Earls at 13.

Sexton still has a way to go before he is as good as many people credit him as being. Lions 10? Maybe a replacement 10 but not the best 10 in the 4 Nations.

ROG needs to be dropped completely. Jackson, Madigan and Keatley are FAR more deserving of his position in the international setup now. Wish he'd do the right thing and just retire.
