    Had bama passed more they would've played into cincy's strength of good pass defense, cincy just didn't play the run enough because they were looking for alabama to pass it more often. Bryce was looking rough that game and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if there would've been more interceptions from him. So saban being a good coach decided nah, we can't commit turnovers bc we'll lose so we'll attack the natural weakness of a 3-3-5 and its the run game.

      @@tylerhughes5420 I disagree Saban seemed concerned about a “close” game so he tried to throw the ball. That did not work as well as he wanted so he got bailed out by 3 blocked passes that would have had a 14 point swing in favor of Cinny. He then decided that running the ball against the undersized DLine was the best option.

    Out of 16 semifinal games since 2014, only three have been competitive. 2014 Ohio State 42 - Alabama 35, 2017 Georgia 54 - Oklahoma 48 (double overtime), 2019 Clemson 29 - Ohio State 23. Basically every other semifinal has been over by the half. The average margin of victory is 21 points. Not excited for them to expand the playoff so that we can get even more frequent and more lopsided blowouts.

    • @52flyingbicycles
      @52flyingbicycles Před 2 lety +10

      Most college games are lopsided blowouts. Only 3/8 finals were decided within one score, so it’s not like the BCS model would have been better. On the contrary, 6/16 finals teams and 3/8 winners were 3 or 4 seeds, so the playoff did make a difference

    • @NDrocks52396
      @NDrocks52396 Před rokem +2

      It’s even deeper than that. It’s Alabama blowing people out. The only exceptions were Oregon blowing out FSU/LSU vs Oklahoma. And this past year Georgia vs Michigan. It honestly makes the regular season pointless. No one beating Alabama except for the rare appearance of a good UGA, LSU, Clemson, or Ohio State team. College football is too predictable. Hopefully these NLI deals and super conferences will spread the recruiting talent across more teams

    • @NDrocks52396
      @NDrocks52396 Před rokem +3

      @@jaketaylor3571 it’s more than that. Notre Dame and Cincy aren’t the only teams to get blown out. And ND can actually keep up with teams like UGA. Bama is really just a different playing field. Oregon blew FSU out. Alabama blew Washington and Michigan State out. Georgia blew Michigan out. LSU blew Oklahoma out. Cincinnati is even debatable, cause they performed historically on par with most 4 seeds. But the truth is the difference between 1 and 4 seed teams is huge.

    Sorry for the long wait. Had a lot going on and, honestly, doing the highlights for this boring game was not a priority. It's a sad truth that this 27-6 game was more competitive than the average playoff semifinal. This playoff system has been a total disaster for college football.
    I plan to keep making videos, but the pace will probably be slower than in the past. I'm just not nearly as interested in college football as I used to be due to the playoff, conference realignment, NIL, transfer free agency, etc. It seems like that's the case for most people, because viewership is way down on television and on every CFB CZcams channel, including mine. Bama Rewind is still important to me, because I've put so much time into it over the years. But I'm sure many of you will agree that it's kind of a tough time to be a college football fan right now.

      I really appreciate what you do; thank you for sticking around. I'm still very interested in watching (Bama) CFB and the teams that orbit Bama, vying for the throne. But yeah I agree with you, NIL and the Playoffs are turning CFB into Diet NFL and I hate that :(

    • @richardpierce4908
      @richardpierce4908 Před 2 lety +6

      I will always love Alabama football, but you are right in everything you said. The biggest issue with NIL is once SCOTUS ruled in favor of it, no regulations or rules were set up. Now it’s next to impossible to try to regulate it after the fact and even harder to enforce future rules with the NCAA having zero power.
      All the issues you mentioned have driven many college basketball head coaches into early retirement. It won’t be long until it hits college football.
      Thank you so much for what you do. I know it is just a game, but watching these videos, especially the ones from the mid 80’s through 2000, take me back to my childhood. I guess it is corny, but those videos, even some of the losses, bring back very fond memories of simpler times.

    Look man there are moments where Cincy held up and I think there were some plays where we should have been more aggressive (no screens within the 20. Runs and play actions/QB runs)
    This could have been a totally different ball game but you live and learn.

      Cincy should hold their head high. I was impressed by y’all’s coaching. Saban had to chess match this one. Roll Tide, but those Bearcats could be a problem in the future.

      Bama made a run heavy offense just for Cincy. They didn't play this way against anyone else. That shows the respect Alabama had for Cincy's pass defense and their defensive weapons. Shutting down Pierce and Ridder was no easy feat either.

    Cincy had no right being in the top 4. This was a total sham based on them winning against Notre Dame. Cincy was taught a valuable lesson. You had better bring your balls with you when you think you belong at the table with Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, The Ohio State, etc.
    Cincy could have saved themselves this huge embarrassment if they would have played like they belonged, they didn't.
    For all of their posturing they enter the preseason at #23.
