    CORRECTIONS:
    You always play with 3 face up cards in the park no matter what the player count is.

    Wanted to swing by to let you know how much I appreciate your videos (ever since I learned "Empires of the North" from you.)
    It's not that there aren't other (seriously good) tutorial channels out there, there are. But as the guy who introduces games on almost a weekly basis, for me your way of teaching is simply the most comprehensive.
    You obviously know this yourself, otherwise you wouldn't actually do it this way, but watching you actually play the game is so valuable. It has happened quite often that I watched a bunch of tutorial videos in preparation of a game night, only to end up realizing that I missed (or misunderstood) some part of the rules explanation and I end up frantically browsing through the manual to find the relevant rules dragging out the explanation or making it needlessly confusing.
    Your way of teaching just avoids this entirely because any misconception I might have will just be cleared up by watching you play.
    If I can't find a video from you, I always hope that there is a semi-competently shot "let's play" of the game in question somewhere else but for some games (with hidden information or board game components with small symbols or text) this obviously often fails because people are hiding their cards or the camera doesn't capture everything.
    So I want to say again, what you do is awesome and relevant. Thank you.

      This is great to hear. I know my teaching style with these videos isn't for everyone, but I also think it's a really strong way to solidify rules. Actually seeing them used several times throughout play makes them feel natural and puts rules in the context of other mechanisms which can sometimes be harder to fully understand with a traditional teach. The repetition does make my videos longer than they could be, but I think/hope it's worth it.

    “We have to live with the decisions that we made.” (37:41) That’s deep...suddenly thinking of all the bad choices I’ve made throughout my life...😕

    This is just such a charming little game, a lot of depth to it as well with all the various ways to score and made up rules for further tailoring player engines and decks. In following with your other comments, I also appreciate how thorough you are when covering the rules by illustrating what they look like in the context of a real game being played like that. Really helps us to see how it works and understand it.

    Thanks for this tutorial Jon! I must admit this game did not draw my attention when it first came out but now I realize it was probably due to poor explanations/reviews from others. Your tutorial on the other hand has definitely sparked my interest and now it’s on my wishlist 😀

    Would it still be 3 or more?

    Played this over the weekend, and the symbology made this game experience so bad

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  Před 4 lety

      Huh, the only issue I bumped into was wishing there was an "=" between the double "any item" icons on certain cards to reinforce that they have to be the same.

    • @Trae_Lenox
      @Trae_Lenox Před 4 lety

      JonGetsGames it was more because there is no text on the cards like Terraforming Mars or Underwater Cities. Cards with that much symbology need text help or else you have to spend so much time looking at that player aid and the game then takes 2 hours.

    • @ilqrd.6608
      @ilqrd.6608 Před 4 lety

      Trae Lenox That much symbology? There isn’t actually a lot of unique symbols in this game. Once you understand a few you understand rest. Not sure how you struggled so much
