No he isn't. He had 7 good years. 1984-1990. 1991 was underwhelming, 1992 was worse. He was out of the picture in 93. 94 and 95 in wcw were turd years for him. Came back to life somewhat as a heel in 1996, 1997, and 1998 but was a coward in the NWO. 1999,2000, and 2001 more turd years. 2002 wwf nwo wasn't that great at all, his match with the rock was the only highlight and that's when he should have retired because everyhting after that was terrible. Hogan had 7 good years.

Hogan vs. Bockwinkel was so popular that not only was the Civic Center sold out, but the Roy Wilkens Auditorium next door was sold out to watch the match on Closed Circuit. Hogan had a major problem with Verne selling Hogan merch while he was in Japan (which is completely normal in any promotion). Verne claimed that he gave Hogan his cut, but Hogan claimed Verne stiffed him on the pay. Both stories are believable.
More believable is that Verne stiffed him, he was kind of "old school" as a promoter with a habit of trying to take a personal cut out of his wrestlers deals.
The St. Paul Civic Center is my favorite venue for classic wrestling. The AWA presentation in that building was PERFECT! And I am from NY. When we got the AWA starting in 1984 it was awesome. Too bad Verne lost his footing after the AWA/NWA partnership.

He said he didn't want one of his guys doing movies so he gave Hogan an ultimatum that he either turn it down or he's fired. Then when Rocky came out Hogan became a megastar.

Ric has great wrestling and promo delivery skills, while Hogan has average wrestling skills but great promo delivery skills. So Ric is the best all around wrestler, the total package, when the two are compared.
Ric is the better overall package in terms of character and in-ring skill combined.......but Hogan was smart enough to understand that making himself popular with a preteen boy audience is where the most money was at. Hogan basically got himself over as a real life 80s action hero, right next to the Ninja Turtles, Batman, He-Man, etc. He bridged the worlds of professional wrestling and comic book merchandising, which would lead to toys, video games, etc.

I rooted for both as a kid but as I got older I realized how bad of an in ring performer hulk hogan was. Wwf was selling to kids with hogan's say your prayers, take your vitamins and drink your milk. Nwa was selling to men with ric flair. Everybody wanted to be ric flair with his sex and alcohol gimmick. Jet flying, limousine riding. Flair oozed charisma. Wrestled 1 hour matches monthly. Hogan maybe wrestled a few 1 hour matches. It's not close in my opinion and hulk hogan's either

Sylvester Stallone created Hulk Hogan. Putting him in that Rocky movie gave him the exposure that Vince later leveraged to mainstream pro wrestling to the general public. Without Stallone's influence, Hulk Hogan would have been just another big mediocre wrestler, like John Studd or Blackjack Mulligan....
