Kate Bush, The litmus test for the upper echelon of exquisite taste
🎉🎉
Charisma is not something ,that everbody has.....look at her no special effects, no video tricks..just a woman and her voice, she can capture you in a minute....this is talent
She's amazing. The greatest female singer-songwriter in history
Fan for life the first time I saw her. Heard her. _Experienced_ her, really!
elle est belle la voix l esprit vive les femmes ont vous aimes mes cherie c eut qui vous font du mal quils creves ...

One of my mothers favorite songs....... -she died september this year. R.I.P. My beautiful mother :´(
I know she was a very good person
she had great taste
rip sorry for your loss
My late mum was also a huge Kate Bush fan, think of her everytime I hear Kates music
May your beloved mother rip 🙏
Where do artists like her draw inspiration? It seems everything today is made with the intent of being popular. I’m just getting into Kate Bush and she’s blowing my mind right now. She doesn’t seem interested in being conventional at all. Extremely talented.
She's my favorite bookworm (Emily Brontë; Wuthering Heights; song same name . . . James Joyce; Ulysses; "The Sensual World" . . . Peter Reich; A Book of Dreams; "Cloudbusting"). Kate gets inspiration from everywhere. 🙂
@@GarthPrice-ej6bt Except she hadn't even read Wuthering Heights when she first wrote it. Just watched an old movie on the telly!
@@seed_drill7135 She saw the last few minutes of a rebroadcast of a late 60's TV series - in the 70's - her primary inspiration for her song. She needed to get the actual book to 'get it right'. Going to see if I can find that series on the web - unless everything on tape was erased for some use later on.
And that right there is her magic - her secret. She created what she felt inspired to do, not what might make her popular. She is more of an artist than any other performer. Shes wonderful.
There are no artists "like her".
Writes her own music, writes her own lyrics, has the voice of an angel, must be Kate Bush.
Thats work for Kate Bush, Tori Amos and Lana del Rey ;) 3 goddess, but Kate is clearly the greatest, cause she inspired the other one ;)

Plays the piano brilliantly, dances like a fairy queen, casts positive spells over both the young and the old...... I have to stop! Just thought I'd add a few more (-:

Thank you GTA Vice City for making me discover amazing songs.
Eliott Kate has explored so many different genres it's ridiculous. Check out "Waking The Witch" off "Hounds of Love" or "Rocket's Tail" for some great guitar from Dave Gilmour.
100%
Same! Because of vice city I even got my dad on Kate Bush.
Vice City forever
and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and Twisted Metal III for other rockin' soundtracks.
Kate Bush put me in a trance with her elegantly haunting music when I was only a kid in the late 70,s. I'm 52 now and haven't seen any female vocalist come anywhere close to this mesmerising masterpiece. A complete one off. Thankyou Kate ❤
Yes, music has too many vocal warblers, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston are prime examples of this vocal range showing off. Kate doesn't need to pretend- a bit like Billie Holiday, the songs are what mattered. Sarah Craknell of Saint Ettiene has a beautiful but simplistic way of singing. I'd recommend to anybody to listen to Saint Ettiene's early 90s album, Fox Base Alpha, I've loved it for 30yrs.
@@stephenmcdonagh2795 I've heard st Etienne, I remember the album when britpop was taking off👍

@Haku Yuki omg seriously. I felt so robbed when I found out!
@Haku Yuki dont trust any new remasters/versions of rockstar, copyright has robbed amazing songs from sa, vc, and evem gta 4 with the 2018 update. im sure one day gta 5 will also lose some of the most memorable music. honestly might aswell pirate 4 and emulate sa and vc at this point smh fuck copyright
She's so freaking beautiful.
Those kids buying Running up that hill are gonna freak when thry come across ths one
Kids grab your pens and take notes, This is an Artist, no fakery or robotic voice effects, just pure devine.
Exactly. It's pure talent.
I know right unfortunately this era young ones just find this kind of artistry crazy and that there insane :(
@@animatedolly Too much Tick Tock
@@animatedolly Hi, 19 year old here, would just like to ask you to stop generalising. Just because the music that is in the charts is absolute garbage right now doesn't mean that we have no taste. Don't worry we DO get the artistry. in fact I know more people my age who listen to a wider range of artists and genres than people my parents and even grandparents age. Maybe your opinions are based more on what's in the charts than anything else? That music is generally garbage, nothing original at all. I would point you in the direction of tiktok where there are accounts dedicated to artists like Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks, Minnie Ripperton, Marvin Gaye, Barbra Streisand and many more, made by people my age and younger. Please don't be that guy that has a closed mind and makes sweeping generalisations about younger generations, it's becoming a cliche at this point, we really don't like it
That's nice to hear. Because you're right, most of nowadays "music" is pure garbage.
No disrespect to garbage...
Kate is one of a very small minority of, truly genius level, creative artists... thankfully, she was noticed when she had so much to give... I doubt the “industry” of today would even be capable of acknowledging such brilliance!
In the US, the industry couldn’t take her back when she was having her initial string of hits. She completely flummoxed US radio and, then, MTV. Only the rare appearance of Kate on US MTV back in the day and then it wouldn’t even play the official “Running Up That Hill” in ‘85. Dullards. When it comes to Kate Bush, the US has truly been “the land of the great unwashed.”
Lucky for us david gilmour, pink floyd, seen the genius also and helped get her put on the map for us to marvel at
Grimes is a big talent too
Simon cowell and his talent show acolytes would laugh and label her an oddball.thats why kate bush is a genius and simon cowell is a c**t.
GTA Vice city introduced me to this amazing singer and now stranger things.. nice
Kate Bush is the coolest person on the planet.
Ridiculously brilliant.
She really is 👍
Absolutely
Beautifully put!
And its her on the piano as well. The level of talent is insane.
The best female singer songwriter this country has ever produced. Kate is a genius and brilliantly left field. She wouldn’t stand a chance today with the bland shit Simon Cowell is peddling. Music today has never been in such bad shape. Thank god I was born long enough ago to appreciate this brilliantly talented lady.
There is a sphere beyond perfection which Kate Bush is inhabiting
Lots of people born after the 70s that enjoy this music..Radio music has always been garbage bbe x
Sad thing is that you see this kind of honest performance now and it looks unpolished and amateurish and yet...her raw talent powers through.
@@jjs3287 you saw* :)
@@carmenhanrahan I just think she was / is a fantastic talent! Never got to see her perform live but bought all her albums.
I still love Kate Bush, in 2022. I never get tired of the next level genius of her music.
Same. I’ll always love her music
Agreed : )
Fell in love with her ever since her appearance on Saturday Night Live (1978)
Although to be honest, I think she's a bit ambivalent on the subject herself.
This song is so eerie and beautiful, truly out of this world. Her perfomance in this video is so captivating, she's like a witch but a good one of course!
she's a fairy
You are right it is so evocative! I like how she fades in and out like a ghost at the beginning and end...with that eerie oooOooOoooo vocal. Beautiful.
Its utterly haunting and lives with you long after. I first saw this video on TV in '78 and it was extraordinary then but its time thats the axeman that fells the lesser trees and leaves the true giants standing. If someone asked me to describe kate's music I don't think I could... its so unique, all of it and she never repeats herself. Astonishing.
I’ve always said that. Lol. The video for Sensual World is super witchy.
It's a simple video, with no special effects. We're captived purely by her expressiveness and voice.
And her dancing. I really think that's her first calling, artistically.
It was a different age, music video was still in its infancy it was way before MTV as well
Why does 80's women have to sing so god and look so damn good like my gosh she's beautiful I wish I was a teenager in the 80's but I had born in the 2000's and heard this in Vice City and today I decided to find this song again. I wish I was teen in the 80's it was probably really fun. Like Laura Brainaghan or Pat Benetar like My Gosh the 80's had some nice women I wish I was a teen then like experiencing all of that would be fun.
Be glad you weren't it was not a good time to live in. It was not a good time to be in if you were a woman, a gay man or woman who was assaulted physically or in an adult way, a kid who is being abused, a married woman being forced into conjugal "rights", if you were a woman or a man assaulted in an adult way (thank the AI censor for the wording) as you were essentially on your own and if you even dared to report it then somehow you were at fault.
That is without the living under the threat of global nuclear war, living under the threat of nuclear attack, apartheid, living in an industrial town as the income you relied on disappeared, etc. Then throw in the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the thousands of people dying due to their immune system being destroyed.
Don't confuse the music with how life was. She wrote "Breathing" for a reason.
Everyone’s buzzing about Running up that hill but this is the one 👏🏼
Yes,me too.
When i hear Wow, of the legendary Pop singer Kate Bush i forget Whutering Heights. Masterpiece.
Kate's performance is unbelievable! She is timeless and unique.
the only thing i obssesd in that video is her dress!
You couldn't have put it better, she is truly a one off 👌
I wish she was my neighbour unlike the thing that lives next door to me who tells me to fu*k off when I complain about the (un-necessary!) noise she generates. Hey ho, a + I have to bear! 😔
Absolutely, unique is the word mate

The lady has real class, simple as.
If you listen to just half a dozen of Kate's biggest hits, you will soon understand why her songs are very rarely covered in modern day talent shows - no one has got guts and abilities to even try to sing her stuff correctly:)
- And yet - Alan Partridge boldly ventured and dared to perform a haunting medley of Kate Bush songs 🎵 live on stage. Wow!! WOW! 🤩 Unbelievable.

I was playing gta vc today. When I played the game for the first time, due to the version being pirated, radio was muted off. But after buying a new pc and playing gta vc bought from steam, now I am enjoying music which is so good. The vocalist 's voice is beautiful. I want to hear this song again and again.
I wish I was born in 80s. So amazing music they made that time.
According to Graeme Thompson's biography of Kate, she did 150 takes to get the vocal just right. That is true art
I'd love to be a fly on the wall when she's in the studio and striving for the perfect delivery of a lyric. I'd have died and gone to heaven if I could have been there when she recorded "Cloudbusting" and sang the "you know that something good is gonna happen" line.

If today this music sounds fascinating, strange and beautiful, just imagine what it was like to listen to it in the 80s.
Yes it was fantastic actually! Heard Wuthering Heights as a kid then she was always there making these wild hits through the 80s and 90s. Always something new with her. But pop music was much more varied then.

You might find that in the 80's there was a lot more diversity in music compared with now. So no, it wasn't remarkable to hear talent. Now it is remarkable because your ass size seems more important than talent.

I doubt she was overly interested but of course ever so gracious in accepting it, in true Kate Bush style.
The RRHOF is a sham. So many quality artists ignored, while popular mediocre artists outside of RR are inducted.
She is in the Music Hall of Fame which is the Top level of the Hall of Fames, so she's not allowed in the lower RRHOF, other notable inductees are Prince, David Bowie, Mozart, Beethoven etc
she just got in. she’s in

If you had to say what talent is: Kate Bush.
She is not only incredibly talented but stunningly beautiful too.
What always got me was when the pop DJs gushed over Debbie Gibson writing her pop hit when she was only 16. Bush wrote the first version(s) of The Kick Inside when she was only 14. One is a standard pop song, the other sounds like it was written by a pregnant 25yo with great talent...
