Sorry about what you went through in Egypt. I heard a lot of these kind of stories and avoided them seriously.
I came into Canada as a PR last month through KLM, with a stopover at Amsterdam & I wasn't asked a single thing about my documents at Lagos, Amsterdam or Canada, except for my CoPR & Passport.

I heard from a group chat that when you enter Egyptair, you’re asked only very few questions before getting your study permit compared to other airlines. Maybe all this their investigation is the reason.
Oh really? We weren’t asked any questions they were calling out names and handing us our study permits. The only problem I have with them is for doing it to just Nigerians.
Please how many kg allowance is the hand luggage for Egypt air ?

Those people are hired by the airlines and their work is to screen genuine travellers. They screen, just like immigration does. The duty to ensure that genuine travellers board aircrafts lies with airlines and yes, Nigerians have a reputation...

Sorry about what happened in Cairo. It’s not weird that your documents were checked there because EgyptAir would get fined by Canada if it flew in undocumented passengers, but it’s weird (racist maybe?) given that it was only Nigerians. Just giving them the benefit of the doubt, maybe immigration fraud rates are higher in Nigeria, but that doesn’t mean it’s zero in the Philippines or India.
Yeah, it’s been months now and hopefully you’re over it by now. And hopefully it never happens again. People suck sometimes 😢. Hope you’re enjoying Regina!
Also, noticed the interesting squiggly line between Lagos and Cairo, I’ve never seen a flight pattern like that!

They are still asking as of today's diary date on Nov 28, 2023. I did not realize they had the authorization to do that. Is this an agreement with the Canadian government? They are not Canadian Immigration Officers, so they should not be asking for documents that don't pertain to them. There is no way they will get fined because all they need is check is a valid passport. When people get to the border in Canada is when all these questions should be asked. I am really baffled and angry at this. I would like to know who gave them the authorization to do this.

I've heard many people tell this exact story. heard about some Nigerians turned back at Cairo because they didn't book connecting flight from Toronto to their final destination. its profiling for sure but they have actually been giving the authority by Canada to screen whoever they want. they just choose to do it to Nigerians in particular. its a good thing I'm going with Lufthansa.

@@Kessieraw you need to request for it from your school. Probably through your student account. Log in or send them a mail. You need it
You don’t need enrollment letter if you are going early….some schools don’t allow to enroll until a few days to resumption so if you don’t have it just show them proof that your school doesn’t issue enrollment till they resume and you’ll be fine

Who even travels to Canada after classes have started?Every body mostly goes early so as long as you register for classes, you need your enrollment letter. Even to get your SIN you need it. So if you can get it before your trip PLEASE DO!

Congratulations on your relocation. To be sincere, what you expirienced in Cairo is not new. They've been doing that over the years. My friend who used that same route in 2018 saw hell. And he swore never to use Egypt Air anymore and has warned us his friends not to use them. They have this ugly thoughts about we Nigerians and it's sad. Sorry for what you expirienced.

That profiling is not okay you should writer to the airline… and complain. Then write to a minister or news station in Canada so they can look into it.
