About 'The Long Road North' game , by North Kingdom Greenhouse :
"The music video for Cold Burn is directed and produced by Noth Kingdom Greenhouse.
We have done many music video projects over the years, always aiming to find a unique angle.
With the brief we got from the band, we saw an attractive creative opportunity to explore what we believe will be the future of music video creation-combining music with real-time technology and interactive storytelling.
The video for Cold Burn will be followed by an immersive game experience where fans can immerse themselves in this unique visual world we created for the album called 'The Long Road North'
Building the experience in Unreal Engine allows us to invite fans as the hero of the story to explore the music video in their unique way.
The song is adaptive to how you navigate the world, so every time you play the music video game, you will get a different experience.
The project is an innovative collaboration between Cult Of Luna, North Kingdom, and Arctic Game Lab, and developed by a team of game designers, 3D artists, and musicians in the north of Sweden."
Linus Johansson
Lyrics :
Breathe into the harrowing wind.
To uncover truths hidden by snow.
Melting water cleanses the ground.
Breathe into the freezing haze.
The cold burns like salt in a wound.
Howl. Your skull is screaming.
The sky darkens. Visions dragged from light.
Ice pierces your skin. Carving words from within.
Pain moves through every vein.
Frost covers figures. Too dim for you to see.
Years go by faster. Seasons no longer hold their line.
From its den under the mountain. Wings spread out across the night.
The cold burns. - Hudba
Even though it might sound impossible, I'm confident this album is going to raise the bar once again. You people are masters of your craft, and the quality of your work is beyond measure. Thank you for 20+ years of amazing music.
Oh... it will.
What you mean ? "You people?"
@@bensbikex510 The band and basically anyone involved with helping to create Cult of Luna records.
They got a lot of inspiration from the almighty Neurosis but sure they are good
Yes, in COL we trust ! And they never disappoint.
Cult of Luna just keeps getting better and better as time marches on, doesn't it?
No
Calm down. It's been 17 years since their best album.
@@B1tterAndThenSome their best album is Eternal Kingdom
@@MadailinBurnhope Nice try, would you like to guess again?
@@MadailinBurnhope thank God it's not their worst , but no
5:09 is just pure gold...
Just mind blowing. That intro drum part is absolutely brutal. This is the soundtrack to the earth being destroyed by a black hole
This is going to be another thing that's going to get me through days when mental health is kicking me down. Your music is so powerful and honestly just beyond songs and albums. It's like therapy.
One of the only post-metal bands that will remain relevant and high quality for as long as they stay together. Hell, have they ever put out a sub-par release?
Raging River
@@locust7777 No. The answer was no.
@@locust7777 You don't seem to like Raging River , but to me it's a very good record, maybe not COL's best release but i like it
Not really. Some releases haven't been in my taste but it's clear as day that those records were masterfully crafted.
I hope the same with The Ocean Collective.
Both bands are amazing.
Almost 20 years later and cult of luna are still a band that communicates its concepts beautiful you close your eyes and always see the vision of the music
Man for years now, lotta bands been sometimes a little disappointing dropping new albums.
But Cult of Luna has delivered on every new album, been blessed to have seen them live just months before the whole pandemic.
Same bro. I saw them in New York before the pandemic.
have you ever tried to _not_ repeatedly listen to a song so you don't burn yourself out of/get tired of it?
this is what i'm trying to do with this. i've already repeated it like 6 times.
this is a song i'm gonna wish i heard for the first time again over and over again in years to come.
That's true....Luckily I only had two albums of theirs before listening to this first couple of times....after listening I now have every single other album to enjoy instead of repeat listening to this bit of brilliance......
This totally blew my mind this morning on my way to work. I feel grateful to have grown up listening to them and to be growing old listening to them. All my respect and appreciation. Thank you Cult Of Luna.
This may be my favorite music video I've ever seen, for once I feel like the video makes the music even better, and like if I were the artist I'd change nothing.
11/10 this fully transports me. Can't wait to put it on a bigger screen with full surround and just completely submerge.
i agree the video makes the song better
With this video I finally understood why I like Cult of Luna so much: the musical development is spread throughout the time usually suitable for 3 tracks, therefore you can watch it unfold slowly, almost like you're watching it from a distance. It's a meditation in audible form, because during meditation you watch your thoughts instead of letting them rush through. And I get why there are people that don't like it - they want the development itself in 4 minutes or less, not to watch it and definitely not to think about it. But it makes people that appreciate bands like Cult of Luna that much more valuable. In people I know personally there are none of those.
It's funny that I'm not a super patient person, yet I'd see Cult of Luna drop a 20 minute track and be like, "Awwww it's only 20 minutes?"
Post Metal (particularly COL) is a journey. Sometimes through space, or time, or through end times.
I think you need to be the kind of person who sees the climbing of the mountain and the euphoria of reaching the top as one of the same to appreciate this kind of music.
I still re-listen to Leave Me Here every so often, and get the same story in my head of a man running to see the world over, waiting to be swept away by it's currents.
Cygnus a song about reaching the end of the galaxy and escaping our own planet’s destruction so humans can survive.
This song about entering a new frontier like the pioneers of yore leaving the ice age and forging civilization through an audous journey filled with pitfalls.
They're all around that central theme of overcoming insurmountable obstacles to get to the top....whatever that top may be.
Damn this song is brutal. Definitely hear the industrial influences of Vertikal merging with the sound from Raging River. Love it.
It's far superior to anything on Raging River
@@locust7777 I actually agree. I was disappointed with Raging River. I do listen to Wave after Wave occasionally. And I Remember, but overall nothing draws me to keep listening. Just didn't make the same impression.
@@virionspiral yes same here
I find that CoL have taken their time in exploring, expanding, and experimenting with their sound. They have core elements but every album has something a little different they explore- like the industrial on Vertikal. Then they incorporate aspects of it into their album. This, IMO, had resulted in them being one of the best metal acts today.
@@virionspiral Three Bridges is pretty good too imo.
So proud of this band. Album after album, you prove to be one of the most forward looking and distinct sounds in metal. Each endeavor is a mediation on some fundamental aspect of the human condition or primal emotive. Very excited for this release. 🤘
I’ve had nightmares about tornadoes chasing me that went a lot like this. Killer song, CoL, can’t wait to hear the rest of this album. Y’all never fail to create compelling, badass material.
Lmao, same here. Thought I was the only one - did you also happen to see Mission to Mars at an early age?
I just came across cult of Luna To day and this is the third song iv listen to amazing and look forward to the rest of you discography
Hypnotic... so heavy and abrasive. Nice breakdown and back into a horrifying dream realm. The shortest 10 minutes you'll ever experience
Maybe the darkest 10 minutes as well
this band deserves a shrine on the moon, really 🤘🤘🤘
back again for round 2, this looks fantastic in 4k!
Hey guys! Greetings from the other end of the world! ... a midnight cult follower from Vladivostok🌒
This is not just a music video. The whole thing is truly a amazing piece of art. Thanks Cult of Luna.
The Long Road North is the best metal album I've heard in years. Absolutely brutal 🤟🏻
This is the first time EVER listening to Cult of Luna and Cold Burn is already among the most beautifully heavy songs I've ever heard. Can't wait to listen to the entire album.
8:58 Closing the circle! I love come back to the beginning's riff!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Been a fan for 5 years, love from Hong Kong and look forward to the new album on feb🇭🇰🤘
Absolutely fucking incredible. Everything since Somewhere Along the Highway has been great in comparison to most of the other stuff in the genre, but nowhere near the caliber of that album in my opinion. This is the best song I've heard all year, period. Post-metal doesn't give me chills and make me misty. This one does. Well fucking done.
it's hard for me to make a list of my all time favourite CoL songs.
but this one may _already_ be in my personal top 3.
everytime i think they can't up the bar, they outdo themselves. and this is only song one. holy SHIT.
They are getting better and better every single step yet they are perfect even in the first place.
I ordered vertikal and ADTF yesterday on vinyl and now pumped up to put in my preorder in next 45 hours. The band which changed my mind about metal - the greatest band of all times - Cult of Luna. ❤️
Turn 40 and you give me this gift??? Awesome again guys! 🖤
This song is written in Sonata form I think.. That recapitulation of the droning, horn-like guitar stirs my soul. You guys have to check out Johannes Persson's collaboration with Perturbator, "Final Light"
Yes. It's amazing
Great again and again! You are all the time surprising and NEVER disappoint guys. I will pre-order the album and book some tickets for your shows in Wien and Ljubljana
Love these new experiments with faster rhythms (as on Wave after Wave). And the cohesion of video and audio here is hypnotic. Great stuff!
I discovered you guys two days ago, because of the review on AMG. I had one listen to the new album on Spotify and immediately ordered the silver vinyl version. The album is dark, epic, like being buried under a mountain of sound. Sublime, I have no other words for it.
Same lol. I got the red one tho
This is an impressively massive soundwall masterpiece. Once again. I bow before you, Cult of Luna.
Hypocrisy lauch their album into space, Cult of Luna decide to help make a game🤘🏻. What a year for us all
This caught me off guard. If there was any social media announcements of this dropping today I missed it. SUPER pleasantly surprised seeing the notification drop down on my phone at work for this. CoL and Be'lakor are the only metal bands I own every single album. This is just what I expect from you guys. I love it and it's made me day that much better. Very excited for the full release in February. 😈🤘
Immense, apocalyptic, dark, dense and beautiful 🖤
I can't wait to see you guys in Paris !!
Devastatingly beautiful CoL.
If the rest of the album sounds like this, then they're seriously on a 4-5 album winning streak here! Can't wait to see how this game pans out.
I'm so happy to get this. My god its amazing. Has been my favourite band for nearly 20 years and every album a masterpiece.
2022 is not even there but we still know the album of the year ! that's dope
Video was great - had a strong vibe from the PS classic Journey with an apocalyptic twist(er)
Same here, couldn't stop thinking about Journey, what a fantastic game
I’m honestly speechless. Absolutely amazing song can’t wait to hear the rest of the album
cant wait for the actual album. had this single on repeat since it released! such a good song!
C'est tellement puissant ! C'est incroyable ✨ j'adore !!
The visuals are just as impressive as the song. What an amazing compliment to each other
Cult of Luna never disappoints. Just crushing out straight classics since Somewhere Along the Highway.
Really good stuff here. Congrats to you all.
It is my birthday.. this is like a gift lol thanks
Amazing as always. I’m not sure my ears have the time for another COL album so soon!
Amazing as always! Can't wait for the new album
AWESOME! The sound reflects my current mood. ThxXx!
I like that it circles back to the opening music pattern
Everything this band does is a musical revolution.
Just effin kick ass guys. Can't wait. This song has so much density. Raging River is likely my no.1 of 2021 album (I consider it an album anyways....ep is 38 mins long! 😘)....wouldnt be surprised after hearing this beauty if the same happens next year. I'm seriously blown away 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Epic song and epic video. I have already listened to this track a dozen times since released yesterday and my anticipation for the new album is at a grand scale right now. Nothing against Raging River but I hope The Long Road North is as good as Dawn To Fear which I think is your best album to date. If this track is any indication I think my expectations may be met.
Wow, another epic!!!! Looking forward to the album so much. Bring it on!!!!!!!
Your music sounds like my dreams and so are the videoclips, so you guys go deep in my soul 😍 Best band everrr, kisses from Brasil 🇧🇷
The best band of this generation. Never, and I mean never, disappointed with Cult of Luna. Love them!
Well this is amazing. Randomly discovered these folks in high school when I came across a CD of theirs tossed on the sidewalk. Took it to my buddy Steven's house and popped it in and we were blown away. Great to know they're still awesome a decade and a half later, if not even better.
what an incredible find. the only CD I ever found randomly was a Big Shiny Tunes disc
@@CaptMorgan1st I'm trying to remember which album it was because it was a CD somebody burned. I think based off the tracks it was Somewhere Along the Highway? And that's kinda cool too though! Good old 90s pop rock haha
Really great. It's a true perfection metal. Please come to Japan!!
Just got done with Spotify wrapped which was embarrassingly CoL dominant due to The Raging River coming out this year.. Excited for even MORE new CoL!
Fantastic! Would be even better, if you could add the lyrics as subtitles to the video! Can't wait to see it live!
extremely stunning piece- and it hearkens to what Terence McKenna said about putting our deepest heart on display for exploration by other players who will pay the cost of attention to experience it.
The cost of attention
Terence McKenna Coast to Coast AM
From the sound of this track, I am beyond excited for the album. And I love the idea for the game experience.
wow wow wow , the idea is really cool ! the 3D artist who are working on this are really lucky!
Absolutely f...in amazing killer song!!!Respect!
Always wondered what Sweden looked like... A few more tornadoes than I expected.
That was beautiful - I cannot wait for the rest!
Yeahh.. Can't wait for it..
This is next level. COL just keeps evolving and crushing planets and I'm here for it.
This is great C.o.L. it doesn't disappoint, I'll take it a little longer, the album has been ordered!
Bought the vinyl pretty soon after I heard this. The first song of theirs I heard. So glad I found out about them
Cant wait to see this song played live!
The Cult Is Alive! 🌑
'Rock Band' has been the only music experience I've had in gaming. This ought to be epic. An interactive video. I can't wait. Now, when...
Bring it!
How does this band continually create such crushing riffs? Just how do they do it? It does my head in...🤪
The climax that start at 3:48 is fucking gorgeous
These were the shortest 10 minutes of my life
Can't wait :)
Damn, feels like im part of a cult now.
You are. The Cult of Luna. Welcome :)
5:50 Love how the rocks are moving like seaweed
Stark and wonderful transcendence. Awesome song and video!
I was reading a particular scene in John Langan's The Fisherman that I won't spoil except to say it was a vision, and this song immediately came to mind. Really invoked a powerful feelilng.
23 years growing, Cult Of Luna has fully built a sound that conveys a message of strain, of fury, of tacitude that feeds their monolithic music. My mind wanders the extant means of being while listening to the tumultuous writhing of this fervent composition.
tl/dr: CoL is on a distant plane
Fabulous, musically and visually !
Can't wait 🇲🇽
incredible track!
The best track I've ever listened to. Like 20 times, no jokes! Can't wait to see you in ArcTanGent 2022 in 7 weeks!
I always thought of them as Old Man Gloom light. But once again they go and prove me wrong. Very cool direction with this song.
Everything about this is outstanding.
Great. As always. 👏
Sonic artwork.
Wow this is the definition of intensity, I'm amazed by the development of the this master piece, jaw dropping, just that
Masterpiece! so stunning
Top work. I very much enjoyed that!
As a fan of good atmosphere this track hits just perfect. Dark but still melodic - exactly what i want!
