      I always live in the sixties and seventies especially musically. Next time I go insane I think I'm just going to stay there. Just as long as I don't get stuck in a bummer like a couple of the ones I had in 67, and get stuck in that forever.

      This Richie mania is confusing. For me, Neil has written 45 great songs, Steve ran out of gas but at least 20 great, Richie .. I guess I'm not so into his country-flavored songs and I think his best song is "Sad Memory" so maybe a few good songs. Sure it was good to have him sing Neil on BS (not that I don't think Neil often has a better voice for many of his own songs).
      My guess is most of the love comes from Southern and Mid-Western fans whereas I grew up in the Northeast and maybe most of us just didn't hear that. Of course, Neil and Steve are country-tinged but less so and cross over more than Richie. It's hard to explain but if I hear a pedal steel guitar player or a lot of twang or country picking or blue grass etc, I am not likely to love it but it's not like there are not exceptions to this rule.

      @Tom-bs3zh Před 3 lety +3

      I honestly don't know. I think Neil was the one who didn't want to do it. I think that Neil Young doesn't like to be in a band because he doesn't like feeling trapped. I think Richie and Stephen were always down for a reunion, but Neil never wanted any part of it.

    • @bobbystereo936

    This song made such an impact on my musical preference
    I've been an 80s hair metal guitarist for many years
    But this taught me what a tight band with great feel can make your emotions take over and your heart swells the harmony and vocals make that happen and all the heavy guitar you throw at it won't make that happen
    Buffalo Springfield
    That was a real BAND

    Richie was good to real good, to almost great IMO. Neil and Steven are legends. If I could play guitar and hang with " anyone" in that era it would be Steven Stills, Neil, a close second. Just his body of work, seems humble. Stills can walk on stage and wave and then just go home....Suite Judy Blue Eyes? How old was he when he wrote that?...Whew.

    • @oppothumbs1

      And thank God that Richie sang it. I love the hell out of Neil Young far more than Richie Furay personally. But his voice was perfect for it and Neil's rendering would have been well, out of the blue and into the black. And this is a song that flies and needs a lighter , higher voice.

    People with smart phones think its wonderful to post their concert videos online. Get so tired of the crap audio...the listener is only getting a 40% max experience, so why bother posting it...just to say, "look, I was there!?" Would rather go to the original studio version. On the other hand there's nothing like an energetic live version if the recorder/poster takes the pains to make sure it sounds right. If you can't, just keep it to yourself.

    …this is not of course Buffalo Springfield…this is Stills Furay and Young and a couple of pick-up players…i guess in the USA where Journey or Foreigner or Steely Dan or the Rolling Stones can still perform with one or two original members and nobody seems to care…i guess all the “tribute” bands have dulled everyone’s perception and discretion…

    They said that they were so absurd as to think the only real competition they faced were the Beatles. Not absurd at all. They were better than the Fab Four and if they could keep the band together and away from drug charges, they would have been more popular than the Beatles. Even without the hype that the Beatles had. Buffalo Springfield had better musicianship and creativity by far.
