It'd be cool to see a packing video, showing everything you take in preparation for such an event. Because I and a lot of other viewers have no idea what one should take to an event like this. Granted, you are an atypical example because you are so involved, but maybe show what us normies shoukd bring. Snacks? Blasters, and shoukd you bring loaner blasters? Ammo, and if so, how much? How do you take care of hydration during LARP events like this? Where do other people store their stuff, since not everyone probably has a personal camp with their own vehicle and massive tent? I have so many questions about the personal logistics of such an event.

The amount of planning, scheduling, and other complications to make this work would be astonishing. I really REALLY want to do something like this, but I would need a team of people to help put this together, let alone, a LOT of free time, as this would have to fit within my schedule somehow. Coming up with the story would take a while as well.
Yup. It is a massive undertaking. But they have gotten really good at it over the past 5 years. Once the game it going it is fairly self sustaining.
This reminds me of my time at camp when I was 12 or 13 or something anyway the camp was Falløut themed(like the video game Falløut) and we even had our own currency(we used bottle caps in case you where wondering)there was a best apocalyptic costume award which I won! My costume was an old green and brown leather jacket all cut up with a bloody handprint on the back(my character was either a cultist or killed a cultist and took his stuff),I also had shaved my head into a mullet (because raiders in Falløut have weird hair styles)and I also wore ripped jeans and a nuka cola shirt. I was armed with a modded slingfire and a slightly modded longstrike

Lots of inspiration drawn from Fallout. I'm a huge fan. But lots from Borderlands, Metro, and many other post apoc games and fiction.

How does the hit system work? I hear people shouting numbers, random words, there are flags too...
Also, this looks like an awesome location.
Health and armor are represented by flags. With each hit you lose either an armor flag or and health flag depending on the damage type. There are loads of special abilities of course that allow you to ignore some damage. It is a fair simple system compared to some but complex enough to be interesting.

This got me really hyped for coming to afterworlds later this year! Just seeing some gameplay gave me a much better Idea as to what I should expect
From the guy you interviewed at Afterworlds, I loved the way you put all of the characters on edge at all times. It was my first game and I definitely plan on coming back to the next one.
I had stress tested my gear before the game, but not to the level that it experienced in the game. Lucky for me, I made sure all of my gear was gloriously MODULAR (it was mostly on MOLLE anyway), so I was able to tighten down everything that came loose.
I noticed you skipped through the scene on your first kill on sight MRA raid where you shot at me in front of Convoy. Would it be possible to include that in the interview video or is it all edited and set to post?

I would be really interested in hearing some of the rules for afterworlds. I printed out the 2019 rules and some clarification would be nice. It talks about hand geatures, but has no diagrams. Going over different characters and build examples would be really cool too. It also mentioned cabins in the rules, but i thought it was a camping ordeal. I would really like to fly out and go next fall. I am wanting to work on props and gear loadout for a character. It looks like so much fun. I would love a mini series over these types of things. I feel ive learned so much about hvz from your stories, but not much about an event like this.
Pls show us a vid on how you made that gigantic hopper for your Prometheus, saw it at a recent HvZ picture and you survived longer than Beret and OOD.

I love your larp stories, especially afterworlds since I do post-apocalyptic larp myself! There seems to be a vast difference in playstyles and rulesets though. Here in Germany there's a strong focus on immersion and aesthetics and people tend to go all out on their costumes and weapons, some even bringing modded vehicles.
If you're interested, I'd love to join you in a small discussion panel style video to chat about differences in larp culture!

This looks like an incredibly close knit community. What is it like for new players particularly ones inexperienced in larp games im assuming welcoming. Also is there any international visitors to this game at all
The players are a really welcoming community. We have people from a few states away that make the trek to come to the games. SO FAR, no international visitor yet.
Well may be a tad difficult for myself to travel all the way from scotland with my third child due any day now but i hope to make the trip in the next few years just will have to consider how exactly to get there
This is my first year and let me tell you this community is tight knit and it is very welcoming and very understanding when it comes to new players amazing is the only way I can truly describe it

Ok I have decided to start making HvZ events when I’m a little older and full of a little more money, that start as a war between humans where the dead gradually form a Zombie army and the last faction alive wins. Thoughts?

Similar concept. MUCH simpler mechanics. I tried DR. I could not handle the mechanics.
Captain Xavier I definitely feel that. It can get complicated sometimes - too much so for some. If only there was an Afterworlds chapter out here in New York. I'd join in a heartbeat.

He was a Savage, they can give up a health flag for 3 seconds of immunity. He is also one of the most power players in the game. He is level 18...in a system only designed to go to level 10...

They all ran out of ammo in the first 30 seconds. Ammo is a rare commodity in this game.
Swords don't run out of ammo.
Can you bring your own blasters and armor or do you have to buy or earn them in games?
You can bring you own.
You'll have to in game "buy" or "craft" modifications for different abilities like ammo type and full auto.
They are represented by loot cards and are salable, lootable and tradable.
Things may change next years. The rules are going through a rewrite at the moment.
Represented by cards so you don't have to give your personal equipment away. Just cards.
Some of us tape the cards to the blaster and let people "steal" it for fun.
Under 120 or 150fps. Must be made from mostly Nerf parts or something that was manufacturered to be a foam blaster.
No high pressure pcv hand mades. There were some problems of people being shot in the face and breaking skin.
