The Northern emerald tree boa (Corallus caninus) is a stunningly beautiful species! In the past it was the same species with the Amazon basin emerald tree boa (Corallus batesii). Finding these snakes in the Amazon rainforest is not easy as they spend most of their time hidden in trees and they are greatly camouflaged! Emerald tree boas have very long teeth and they are often quite defensive. However, the large one shown here was very calm. This video presents 2 individuals in their natural habitat and behind the scenes footage of finding them.
Wonderful footage. I had a Brazilian one in captivity many years ago, and had no problems. Later on I donated it to London Zoo. Stunningly beautiful snakes.
Thank you very much! Nice that you donated the snake to the London Zoo!
Awesome!!👍

Such a beautiful 🐍
We absolutely agree! 🐍💚
What a beauty❤
Thanks for watching! This is a beautiful snake indeed! ❤️
That was an especially fun episode! The convergence with Green Tree Pythons is quite amazing due to the developmental color shift, the pattern of white markings, the ambush style, overall morphology, etc. They're almost like the same species, except one lays eggs and the other doesn't. I wonder if there are some primordial gene complexes which are inherited but lie dormant until latently expressed in descendant species. This is not the only instance of complex convergence, so this apparent phenomenon begs explanation.
Thank you very much! Yes, the convergence in this case is really amazing! The main force in convergent evolution are selective pressures from the environment. Apparently, similar habitats require similar features/characteristics for survival. There is definitely genetic background for similar adaptations in different groups (boas vs pythons, vipers vs death adders etc.)
Beautiful!! Visually stunning!! Magnificent!! Thank you
Many thanks! So great that you love this video!
As always, a trully great video of a most beautiful creature.
Thank you.
Many thanks! Very nice to read a positive comment 🙂
Great stuff!! Now ya gotta do a Morelia Viridis episode!!!
Thank you! We have some footage of M. viridis, but not as much as we wanted as our camera broke!
I don't like constrictors personally. But still, this snake has amazed me.... 💛
It is a very amazing snake!! 🐍💚 Thanks for watching!
Very similar to the green tree python from Australia and South-East Asia.
Great effort to get to the snake 😯
Yes, amazing example of convergent evolution! It was unbelievable that we got the snake and could film it!
Nice video guys 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
My favorite
Thanks for watching!
realy lucky thx for all :)
Thanks for watching!
dream snake ❤ every time i see an ETB , i always think the shape of his head look like he have two massive venom glands ( like on the V.Ammodytes ) 😃
Yes, it looks like that! What an awesome and special snake species. Thanks for watching! 🙂
It does have the jaw shape of a viper.
What a special and extraordinary snake with all those unique hunting features.
amazing!!!!!
Thanks!!
Why is it called Emerald, like emerald snakes in Uganda??💚 watched , beautiful nature and nature sounds as well.
Thank you for watching! The common name refers to the color of the species.
The fact that they have more heat sensing pits on their face would seem they are looking for rats or other small mammals' but probably opportunistic feeders.
From the data that are available it seems that they prey mostly on small mammals when they are adult.
Is it just me...
Or does the Emerald Tree Boa's headshot picture look exactly like a T-REX?
This snake resembles the T-rex a bit, we agree! 😀
I love your videos. It's nice to watch videos without some moron constantly talking and laying on the ground to show his "ability" to handle snakes
Very nice to know! We think that snakes should be main stars of our videos and it will stay like that 🙂
❤
Thank you!
Looking at the snake is scary
No, it’s not! Snakes are amazing! 🐍🙂
Be careful out there
We try to be safe as much as the situation allows! 😉
Are they still out there. Snake 🐍 Trade hurt Many.
Yes
@markrumfola9833 selling these in pet shops should NOT be allowed AND their habitat is being cut down.
Why can't they Respect Nature more. I Appreciate yinz big-time
Seems like in some places they are still relatively common! 👍
💯
