    Thank you so much for all your videos!! They really helped me to get a picture of how conversion course to cs works. I'll be starting my MSc in UCD, Dublin this September and I hope it will be a great time😁

      Hi Anastasiia, I want to apply for the conversion course in UCD also. Any tips for the personal statement? Also what grade did you have in mathematics?

      Hello @Anastasiia to add on to Joshua's reply, could you please tell us more about your experience on MSc computer science conversion course in UCD?

    Thank you for sharing your journey! Totally can relate, the course has been very tough, many varied backgrounds create an unstable work load for those genuinely learning cs for the first time. Just got through first term and find I'm learning so much about how to cope with trudging on through poor performance and deadlines. Maybe not an intended take away from the masters but I actually think it'll be great for personal growth in the end. Literally found myself being unable to even submit big assignments because my code literally wouldn't do anything aha, still above the water though, just.

    I can relate much on what you’ve been gone through. I also resigned from my 9-5 job just to focus on my studies. I’m having hard time too with my studies but definitely it won’t stop me. I’ll keep going to reach my goal.

    Really interesting vid Ngoc. I completed the same MSc course as you but a year before. It was tough enough normally so I can't imagine how hard it would be with all the covid restrictions. Suspect I know the exam you're referring to as well, caught a lot of people out. Anyway, congratulations on graduating!

    • @anitangoc
      @anitangoc  Před rokem

      Thanks Andy! Yep, it was really tough and the exam you suspect is probably the one I was referring to in the video. We heard that it was quite challenging for the previous cohort as well…glad that’s over haha

    Hi, you helped me look over my personal statement a few months back-- I didn't get into Bristol, unfortunately (my application was too late and they closed applications the day I submitted haha) but I have an offer for Newcastle and will be commencing in September! Just wanted to say thanks for your help! I was wondering whether you worked during your Msc/ whether you think the workload can support a part-time job?

    • @anitangoc
      @anitangoc  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey, congratulations on getting into Newcastle!! I worked for a bit before my masters and saved a lot of money so I didn’t have to work while studying. I personally think it would be very challenging to work and study as the course (at Bristol) is very fast paced and you have to spend a lot of time studying to keep up. With that said though, it’s definitely possible to work part-time and study, I know people who have done it. It’s definitely challenging but not impossible

    Hey! I have a medical background and want to do a conversion MSc in CS with Data Science for transitioning into research. However, since I am based in EU, I have to do it online and the options are therefore scarce (only low ranked unis such as Sunderland, Keele, Wolverhampton etc offer online options). Do you think it's worth it? Given that conversion MSc are generally frowned upon by employers and to that you'd add the modestly placed universities. Worth it or not? Regards

    • @anitangoc
      @anitangoc  Před rokem +3

      Hey! Computer science conversion courses are definitely not frowned upon by employers from my experience. They often appreciate the fact that people come from different backgrounds. If you absolutely need to do your studies remotely, I would recommend doing a bootcamp instead as you’re likely to get more out of it

    • @linuxducky
      @linuxducky Před rokem +1

      If you do remote, I recommend the University of London course. It is basically the physical Birkbeck course but online and has largely good reviews though do your own research still. But honestly in the UK the best conversion courses are in-person, but if I didn't have that option I'd choose the UoL one as the best online. I know nothing about bootcamps though just searching for conversion course options myself.

    I am taking a CS conversion course in Australia, and to be frank, as a social science undergrad, I struggle so much that I want to quit. I just feel like CS contents are not something that can be clearly articulated in lecture. So I spent hours and hours learning from youtube every night. It's horrible for me. I'm not sure if courses in UK or UCL are more friendly to beginner or not? Is it worth to try again in another country or shall I just change academic path?

    • @anitangoc
      @anitangoc  Před 3 měsíci

      I felt the exact same way when I was doing my course. I spent hours on stackoverflow/youtube outside of lectures/labs. I think it was mainly because my course was entirely online due to covid and it was very fast paced. The majority of my course mates had the same experience so you’re definitely not alone. Just keep going, you’ll get there in the end and it will be so worth it!

    Did you consider learning online and part-time rather than full-time in the UK to avoid Asian hate crimes?

    • @Tom-tr9xv
      @Tom-tr9xv Před 2 lety +1

      Coming from a white boy here but, I really think you’ll be fine. It will be incredibly rare to get any hate crime and the person doing it is most likely psychological dishinged as this is not a normal thing to do especially in a multi cultural society. You get racist people in all walks of like unfortunately, but I don’t think you’ll experience it, at least your chances r very low and they’ll be mentally ill etc.

    • @anitangoc
      @anitangoc  Před 2 lety +2

      I second what Tom said! From my experience, it’s very rare, although we saw a lot of cases during covid…it’s definitely not how it is normally. During covid, I encountered 2 instances where someone walked by and said racial slurs but those two were the only time I really experienced someone physically and intentionally being racist towards me and I have been living in the UK for over 5 years now. I don’t think it should stop you from studying in the UK, as this is not a very common experience

  • @IAIN660
