"Miracles Now" Gabrielle Bernstein at Wanderlust's Speakeasy

- Sometimes it feels very easy to slip into the void of negative thinking. In this Speakeasy for Wanderlust Squaw Valley 2014, Gabrielle Bernstein makes it even easier to right the ship and step back into the light.
Gabby shares some intimate stories from her personal life, from defining childhood traumas to very recent examples of how she can sense it when her thinking enters into the judgmental and separatist mindset. From these experiences, she demonstrates how to pull out of those thoughts, and to choose the light.
“I challenge you as you go from tent to tent here at Wanderlust and you get onto that mat and you say, 'My practice wasn’t that great this morning,' or, 'I shouldn’t have eaten that vegan brownie,' or, 'I wish I was as good as that teacher but I'll never get there.' I challenge you, when you’re in the separation, to choose again, and to open your eyes to the light that is around you. When you’re having those moments of separation and judgment, I invite you to open up, to choose again, to ask. You’ll be restored, you’ll be rejuvenated, and all that separation will be dissolved by the light.”

A few minutes in, I started having thoughts, judging Gabrielle for everything: her appearance, her amazing ability to speak, questioning her authenticity. But even so I was captivated because her words rang true. I started taking copious notes the moment she said, "That day I got sober." I myself am not an alcoholic. I'm a single mother of four by choice, a massage therapist, a lifetime yogi. In that moment, I got sober, sober to the negativity I was spinning. I had yet again bought into the cultural paradigm where I take down a sister. I could take her down for anything. I'm a loving person. I'm a person who sees the good in everyone. Yet for those moments I was there again. Dismantling her for all of her great qualities, for her failings, for her story, for her transformation, anything. But I was still engaged. Because her words rang true. Even if they were thousands of years old regurgitated spiritual advice. They still rang true. So I got sober even as I was watching, and I forgave myself in an instant and let my separation dissolve. I let myself say, I want to change, and let the invisible door open. I forgave myself for dismantling my fellow human being in my private thought and causing myself pain. I forgave myself for buying into unconscious cultural scripts that tell us rip people to shreds, to put them on a pedestal and knock it out from under them, or that a beautiful woman can have no substance, no transformation, no depth. Her words rang true. I can forgive myself and choose again, and again, and again to own it, hold it, be it, share it. The joy, the love, the light. With no separation.

I have watched you all day Gabby.. You have given me hope. I have few words. Almost speechless. I went into my sons room, held him and told him how beautiful he is, how much I love him. He is 11 and hugged me so tight and said I warmed his heart. I just shared the light. This was life changing for me

I must share this with you. Today was a day of tears for me and one of my sons was stranded twice in another state, I sent all that I had and he needed more, a friend sent him the rest and he was on empty again. While listening to this video and saying a prayer from one of your other videos a few minutes ago. My son called just as you were talking about the room of light. He was laughing and said I looked and looked and could not find a gas station or a place I could eat. I saw this tiny light behind a group of pine trees and it was a gas station. I got to the door and it was locked. Out of nowhere a man walks up unlocks the door lets me get gas and as I was leaving I saw a taco bell. We laughed after I told him what I had just heard you say. And he thanked me!

Hi, Gabby, I am so blessed to know you, you are a true inspiration and a true light to the world, if only everyone had your vision and insight into the true nature of the eternal world, we may at times forget who we are and what we are eternal beings of light and Love but, we can always come back to the light and Love and help and inspire others, we can always be the blessing we are meant to be when we live in the light!

I have been getting into Asatru and Odin came. When you have a vision of a god it is unmistakable. The reason I know I wasn't going crazy was because the god Ganesha had come to me when I would meditate to Ganesh mantras. I thought it was my imagination but now after Odin came, it was truth. The visions are crisp and clear and they look you in the eye. They make ypou know that they are there. I have also been asking for healing from the Goddess Eir and a song my father and I would sing together randomly popped into my head one morning out of nowhere. I think it is to say that he did love me even though he is a maniac sociopath and crushed my spirit until I stopped talking to him. Shit sounds crazy, but Asatru is pulling me to a spiritual renewal. Learning that I could worship the gods like in the old way, before christianity crushed the pagan way, made me feel whole somehow. "God" to me always felt like the universe, the web that connects us, but the gods and dieties are real.
Wow. I resisted so much of this video and kept pausing and jumping to other distractions. I felt the need to finish the vid though, and at the end with the music, i was able to release some emotion. I have a lot more work to do, but having just that little bit of progress, I’m thankful for it.
I need this music and I need your book. This is the first time I have ever felt connected and certain.

So I'm listening to this in my car while driving home and debating grabbing a pastrami sandwich knowing it is not a healthy choice and as I approach the driveway into the sandwich parking lot I hear: "Don't eat the sandwich!"
