A theory I have about why people remember the game differently: I remember watching plenty of videos of romhacks as a kid without really understanding what a romhack was and thinking they were secret parts of the game that I hadn't found yet so over time I got confused and thought that these places I watched in romhack videos were places that I experienced playing. That's why I think these "personalized" memories of the game are actually just people misremembering romhack videos because I remember being CERTAIN as a kid that there was a blue castle (the one in Star Road) behind Peach's castle but in reality that's just something I fabricated in my head from seeing romhacks on youtube.
It’s real similar to the Herobrine creepypasta that had tons of kids saying they’ve seen it themselves. Tons of hoax videos or mods will make kids believe anything.

On a Completely unrelated note of anything, I give you some weird stuff that has happened to me in 2 games: Super Mario World and Mario Kart 64. SMW: I feel like the Special Stages are Testrooms. They just feel incomplete or just like a testroom + the name of them like "Mondo" and "Tubular". Some levels feel like they tested out certain things like "Tubular" testing out P-Balloon Physics, "Mondo" testing out the water current, "Outrageous" testing out how certain enemies work, or "Funky" using the Green Berries, (The ones that increase time) as a sorta scrapped feature that would have been used in more levels. MK64: The A.I is rigged. While I was trying to get the Custom Screen and Mirror Mode for it on a emulator, I saw certain things happening with the computers. On "Toad's Turnpike", The A.I will sometimes, Without a star, Go threw the trucks & cars with no problems. I'm guessing for all courses but I saw it happen in "Toad's Turnpike" again, but the A.I will get a item, without touching a item box, out of nowhere as if it was put in there inventory there on purpose to get a lead. For last, The A.I will get super far ahead out of nowhere. For me this happen on 2 courses: "Frappe Snowland" (DK and/or toad) and "Choco Mountain" (Peach and/or Toad). They will be super far ahead like in 6th or 7th place, and then out of nowhere, will be in 2nd or 1st. Guessing the A.I is rigged to make it harder to get Mirror Mode but it's still weird.

I think the leak is an accidentally manufactured conspiracy. Developer spends 3 years on multiplayer code and building Luigi, only to have it all cut from the game. Gets mad, puts "L is real 2401" into one of the art files as a memorial (even looks like a tomb or monument, honestly). Takes all his cut work, and uploads it someplace on Nintendo's servers where it will never be found. Over the years, people find a file called 'Oman', seeing a ton of cut content, think it's a trash dump file of some sort, and start dropping all sorts of things there. What they don't know, is 24 years and 1 month, long after anyone has a chance of finding him, the code uploads something, or changes it's own IP to public in some way, like a trojan recycling bin of some sort. Since companies often use old machines for decades for stuff like mass storage, this machine was likely forgotten in a basement somewhere, constantly having files dumped to it which explains the newer code like the Wii stuff, and then it went off, releasing a huge mess of junk that the employees had been 'trashing' for years and years. It might have even been intended to go off in 24 months and a day or something, and he put a decimal in the wrong place like Office Space. My second theory is someone found this data dump, and realized it was the 'Luigi proof'. Rather than blow the story right off, he remembered "L is Real 2401" and figured he'd fulfill the prophecy, and leaked it 24 years and a month after the launch of SMB64. Either one is entirely plausible, and I guess unless someone comes true we'll never know which, if either, is real.
Nintendo's security systems wouldn't allow shit like that. The reason the leak happened is probably because of Nintendo having rather rough times in COVID-19, including security.
Now idk if this will add anything, but I am CERTAIN that when I was a kid, and idk how I had acquired such a thing, but I specifically remembered having this weird Wario finger face puppet, where it had holes on the back of the face, to where you could make it talk, move its eyes, and nose for expressions. Let me tell you, I was absolutely shocked to see Mario pissing in my copy of the game.

I think the leak is an accidentally manufactured conspiracy. Developer spends 3 years on multiplayer code and building Luigi, only to have it all cut from the game. Gets mad, puts "L is real 2401" into one of the art files as a memorial (even looks like a tomb or monument, honestly). Takes all his cut work, and uploads it someplace on Nintendo's servers where it will never be found.
Over the years, people find a file called 'Oman', seeing a ton of cut content, think it's a trash dump file of some sort, and start dropping all sorts of things there. What they don't know, is 24 years and 1 month, long after anyone has a chance of finding him, the code uploads something, or changes it's own IP to public in some way, like a trojan recycling bin of some sort. Since companies often use old machines for decades for stuff like mass storage, this machine was likely forgotten in a basement somewhere, constantly having files dumped to it which explains the newer code like the Wii stuff, and then it went off, releasing a huge mess of junk that the employees had been 'trashing' for years and years.
It might have even been intended to go off in 24 months and a day or something, and he put a decimal in the wrong place like Office Space.
My second theory is someone found this data dump, and realized it was the 'Luigi proof'. Rather than blow the story right off, he remembered "L is Real 2401" and figured he'd fulfill the prophecy, and leaked it 24 years and a month after the launch of SMB64. Either one is entirely plausible, and I guess unless someone comes true we'll never know which, if either, is real.
Nintendo's security systems wouldn't allow shit like that. The reason the leak happened is probably because of Nintendo having rather rough times in COVID-19, including security.
Now idk if this will add anything, but I am CERTAIN that when I was a kid, and idk how I had acquired such a thing, but I specifically remembered having this weird Wario finger face puppet, where it had holes on the back of the face, to where you could make it talk, move its eyes, and nose for expressions. It was a weird piece of rubber, and it was a wario face finger puppet thing, and all I remember on the back were 4 finger holes, and a logo for Super Mario 64 on the back, but again, I don't remember how I had acquired such a... toy? I know it was before my dad's death, so around 4 - 7 years old at the time of having it, so.... 🤷♂️
It could have been a bootleg. I've seen Sonic bootleg figures in 2019 that had the Sonic Colors branding even though Sonic Colors was released in 2010 and didn't have any rereleases.

The tiles are a symbol of cosmic duality. Most masonic lodges have checkered black and white patterns like this, made in the image of the temple of solomon. I think you could combine this with the coment in thwomps fortress about thwomps being building materials for the mushroom kingdom as that would very much be masonry. Plus, king Soloman was said to have trapped demons and jinn in bottles and rings. Using living stones to build your magical castle goes along with that idea of trapping spirits. Plus you have those paintings, perhaps functioning like seals of solomon locking away different realms.
