Katie, just some options to consider: 1. A velcro timetable with pictures (ideally ones that Harvey takes) going through his day that he can take off as the day progresses. What is happening now and what is happening next. So a picture of Mummy saying goodbye and going back to her house followed by a picture of an activity of what he has to do immediately next - eg looking at his train pictures. I often found that structuring (as much as you can) routine helped ASD individuals to know what to expect around comings and goings and relieved their anxiety somewhat. My experience is they think in pictures and visuals and these can be useful tools to reinforce understanding around overwhelming situations. 2: Padded inserts / wall panels over structures containing electric wires/ pipes etc. Maybe Harvey can be helped to channel his frustration to specific areas. I realise it’s not a perfect solution but as with anything you could try to structure for him safe outlet for his outbursts. When you’re angry punch here but not here - again it’s about structure. Padded panels which could be made as a fun interior design features with different textures - velvet, faux fur, rubber etc will cushion the impact to him and protect him. I realise it is easier said than done. Pictures to label items such as clothing draws, cutlery, plates etc can also be useful but then again the need for this varies from individual to individual. 3. For the smearing a vinyl / wipeable / disinfect-able wall surface maybe of a frog? I struggled to convey to many parents the sensory drive for smearing. I think the best course of action is to accept its part of the behaviour and accommodate it with a surface that won’t absorb (like plaster) and is easily sanitised. 4. Maybe soft fabric curtains across the wardrobe space instead of doors if doors are a particular trigger? Keep the doors in storage until you have to return house to original condition. You are doing an amazing job it’s heart-lifting to see Harvey being an independent young man. ❤️
@@mrpowell4530 As a high risk ASD teacher I can tell you right NOW just by the trust Harvey demonstrates towards his Mum - she’s been there. You don’t get bonding like that between a person with ASD / Prader Willi if you’ve not been present. That level of trust is not something you can fake. What an utterly cruel comment. Yeah she's very real about how he lives and I appreciate she shows her viewers the hard bits as well as the good bits. I do think he needs therapy though to be able to control his aggression and picking at things so he doesn't end up hurting himself.
It's totally understandable why Katie made the decision to have Harvey move out to assisted living. It's amazing she managed for 18 years! Tough decision, but totally understandable, and for the best. I wonder if the smaller kids were even safe around him when he got fits? Bless, Harvey!

His siblings would not be unsafe around their brother as they are aware of his moods/behaviors, and have parents around. Those comments are insensitive. The decision is based on Harvey first I sure it would be for me when my son is that age.
He is an adult now he’s 18! My 30yr old step daughter has very similar issues and I’m her full time carer it drives me mad when people refer to her as a child still 😡
I’m a Support Worker for adults with learning disabilities, I take my hat off to Katie. She’s doing an amazing job with Harvey. She should be so proud of how shes is with him the love time and attention she gives him. She’s an amazing Mum! ❤️❤️❤️

It is incredibly hard to care for children/people with special needs and more should definitely be done and offered. …….but don’t let Katie fool you , this was posted whilst she is in Spain recovering from cosmetic procedures performed in turkey after two stints in Portugal, she has barely been in the same country as Harvey this past two months! He is being used for views and raising her public profile he deserves better than to be put all over social media every other week he did not ask for any of this , and to read some of the other comments it’s obvious Harvey has basically become entertainment for a snow flake following. How about some thought and praise for the people in his life each and everyday that genuinely deal with him at his worst and his best, why is everyone heaping the praise on this woman who turns up with a camera man and exposed every single aspect of his life for a fawning simp brigade. There are thousands of parents who struggle to get authorities to help them and are not believed what they and their children are going through. I’m a registered nurse in the U.S. working with the special needs community - I work for the state and make sure that families get proper waiver services/nursing care, day program, etc. it’s my life’s purpose and I love this woman - what a wonderful mother. So loving.
They pay a dear price for these services though don't they? New age residential facilities are needed, as we know, your country have a terrible history for this type of residential care, Pennhurst was only closed down in the 80's. Our services until this government were some of the best in the world.
But Katie gets lots of respite, plenty of holidays, she is not tied 24/ like most mum's. Otherwise there is no way she would have the lifestyle she does.

This woman deserves the upmost respect for being such a brilliant and supportive Mum. I’m sat watching this as the electrician is about to arrive to fix some damage my Son with severe ASD has done to the house. We also have a wall that needs re-plastering but he’s picked it apart rather than punched it. He’s only 4 and I can tell you it is SO incredibly hard. KP has been doing this for years and I really admire her for her resilience and for her kind loving patience ❤️ When she talks about finding solutions I felt that, as life with a child with additional needs is a constant cycle of finding solutions to things our children do.

@@russelllewis4063 I have a few issues with your comment there, I'm not saying Katie is 100% right or 100% wrong here. No parent on earth is. But she has other children in the house to consider. As a parent to a son with behavioural problems who has ended up taking it out on his 4YO sister in the past, I am completely unsurprised that, as a woman who could afford to, she provided her son with his own space and professional carers who can enable him to live a much more independent life than many people his age, with his issues, will be able to have. That's our job as parents, to provide what we can for them and make their life as personally enriching as possible. So yes, her 18 year old son lives away from home and she goes home to take care of her other children at the end of the day. And she posts these videos to show what it is that the case workers so often refuse to see- that Harvey needs to be in an assisted living facility where he can receive professional care while maintaining as independent a life as possible, which I GUARANTEE you is the priority of every sick person whether that's chronic physical illness or this kind of neurodivergency.

As strong as Katie portrays herself to be, caring for someone with needs can be incredibly stressful as well as coping with the trauma of her mothers health condition. I really do wish Katie and her family all the best.
I absolutely love Harvey. He makes me howl the little things he says and gets excited about. He's just so pure. Makes my day watching how you're helping him get more independent. People don't realise that you need to set him up for life without you and your mum. They just slate away without thinking of the bigger picture. Absolute hero.

Harvey is such a beautiful young man! He honestly melts my heart so much. I have a big brother with autism too and he behaves like Harvey so I completely relate to everything you’re going through Kate - plus I totally cry every time he gets excited because it’s always the sweetest reaction. No one realises how hard work it is, unless they see it there self. U can see how draining and hard work it is for u kate, but u persist and just want ur boy to have what everyone else has, u can see that. But u can also see how much it's doing to ur mental health as well, u look drained darl, I can't begin to imagine what difficultys u face. But such a good mum, ur strength is amazing. But u need help to deal with alot of this, their should be a nurse or carer or whatever you want to call it, there to give u respite. To give u help when it's needed, someone to cook and help clean, even going for daily walks in harverys routine will drain alot of this unused energy, he needs to be doing a safe activity that can drain some of this excess energy and hyperactivity. I don't for once take for granted how well you look after Mr Price but I can't help but think of the many families living with kids suffering from the same as Harvey but don't have the financial means to take care of these "problems" and literally them and the other kids in the house have to live with this fear and unpredictability. My heart is saddened at the thought and realization of what many families daily life is.

As someone with autism and who is partially blind, along with a recent diagnosis of psoriatic arthiritis, I appreciate this video as I’m currently homeless and waiting for my very own home, so it’s nice to see Harv get his place sorted even tho he’s smashing it to bits, he can do it!

I have brought up 2 autistic sons on my own, worked full & part time jobs & all without any input from their father (his choice), who tried to deny parentage... or anyone else for that matter! Quite frankly I just think "there for the grace of God go I"! Harvey is an amazing young man & deserves to live his best life with the best care available!

She’s a brilliant mum and I’ve always said that she is.. I have studied understanding autism and I completely understand what she is going on about and how much hard work it is has I have 3 nephews who have autism
I’ve worked with people with Harvey’s needs, he’s an unbelievable young man who does well considering his condition. Being a heavy guy myself I preferred to work with challenging behaved young people as I found i was able to deal with their physical outbursts better than smaller staff we had working for us. Harvey seems challenging but I bet he’s an absolute diamond to work with, seeing those happy moments will always over shadow the bad days. All he wants is loves and cuddles and he gets those things in abundance. The system need to support parents better in these situations, there should be so much more funding out there for disabled people who require a larger staff ratio to care for these unique people. Well done Harv, keep up the good work! You’ve got so many supporters out there.
You can really tell how much Harvey loves his mum and how much she loves him back. She might have started as a page 3 girl but she has done an amazing job with all her children. Shes a great mum x

Yeah she's very real about how he lives and I appreciate she shows her viewers the hard bits as well as the good bits. I do think he needs therapy though to be able to control his aggression and picking at things so he doesn't end up hurting himself.

I’m a registered nurse in the U.S. working with the special needs community - I work for the state and make sure that families get proper waiver services/nursing care, day program, etc. it’s my life’s purpose and I love this woman - what a wonderful mother. So loving.
They pay a dear price for these services though don't they? New age residential facilities are needed, as we know, your country have a terrible history for this type of residential care, Pennhurst was only closed down in the 80's. Our services until this government were some of the best in the world.

This woman deserves the upmost respect for being such a brilliant and supportive Mum. I’m sat watching this as the electrician is about to arrive to fix some damage my Son with severe ASD has done to the house. We also have a wall that needs re-plastering but he’s picked it apart rather than punched it. He’s only 4 and I can tell you it is SO incredibly hard. KP has been doing this for years and I really admire her for her resilience and for her kind loving patience ❤️ When she talks about finding solutions I felt that, as life with a child with additional needs is a constant cycle of finding solutions to things our children do.

As a parent to a son with behavioural problems who has ended up taking it out on his 4YO sister in the past, I am completely unsurprised that, as a woman who could afford to, she provided her son with his own space and professional carers who can enable him to live a much more independent life than many people his age, with his issues, will be able to have. That's our job as parents, to provide what we can for them and make their life as personally enriching as possible. So yes, her 18 year old son lives away from home and she goes home to take care of her other children at the end of the day. And she posts these videos to show what it is that the case workers so often refuse to see- that Harvey needs to be in an assisted living facility where he can receive professional care while maintaining as independent a life as possible, which I GUARANTEE you is the priority of every sick person whether that's chronic physical illness or this kind of neurodivergency.

U can see how draining and hard work it is for u kate, but u persist and just want ur boy to have what everyone else has, u can see that. But u can also see how much it's doing to ur mental health as well, u look drained darl, I can't begin to imagine what difficultys u face. But such a good mum, ur strength is amazing. But u need help to deal with alot of this, their should be a nurse or carer or whatever you want to call it, there to give u respite. To give u help when it's needed, someone to cook and help clean, even going for daily walks in harverys routine will drain alot of this unused energy, he needs to be doing a safe activity that can drain some of this excess energy and hyperactivity. I don't for once take for granted how well you look after Mr Price but I can't help but think of the many families living with kids suffering from the same as Harvey but don't have the financial means to take care of these "problems" and literally them and the other kids in the house have to live with this fear and unpredictability. My heart is saddened at the thought and realization of what many families daily life is.

I totally understand Katie, my house resembles Harvey's house, and my 2 sons don't have ASD/ADHD to the same degree as Harvey. You do an amazing job, and as you say, it's because he's your son & you love him. 💞
@Elite. Inc. Imagination. I'm certainly not going to judge this woman on her relationships or anything else she has done, because I have not walked in her shoes! I have brought up 2 autistic sons on my own, worked full & part time jobs & all without any input from their father (his choice), who tried to deny parentage... or anyone else for that matter! Quite frankly I just think "there for the grace of God go I"! Harvey is an amazing young man & deserves to live his best life with the best care available!

What about her other kids they are terrorfied of him he wakes them up in the middle of the night punching them scaring them cuz he likes to hear them scream she won't leave him alone with them and I don't blame her

She’s a brilliant mum and I’ve always said that she is.. I have studied understanding autism and I completely understand what she is going on about and how much hard work it is has I have 3 nephews who have autism
I know how you feel, it’s very hard having a child like Harvey, but you are doing so well with him, you can see the love you both have for each other.

I’ve worked with people with Harvey’s needs, he’s an unbelievable young man who does well considering his condition. Being a heavy guy myself I preferred to work with challenging behaved young people as I found i was able to deal with their physical outbursts better than smaller staff we had working for us. Harvey seems challenging but I bet he’s an absolute diamond to work with, seeing those happy moments will always over shadow the bad days. All he wants is loves and cuddles and he gets those things in abundance. The system need to support parents better in these situations, there should be so much more funding out there for disabled people who require a larger staff ratio to care for these unique people. Well done Harv, keep up the good work! You’ve got so many supporters out there.
You can really tell how much Harvey loves his mum and how much she loves him back. She might have started as a page 3 girl but she has done an amazing job with all her children. Shes a great mum x

I have a son with ASD, epilepsy, is severely autistic, learning difficulties and he too is a big lad - so I understand! 💙 it’s not easy Katie! But remember you are doing a fantastic job.
