Veterans Stadium might have been a dump, but it was one of the greatest things that has ever happened for the Eagles. In terms of the fan atmosphere, it was better than the Linc.

My 1st & ONLY time I was there was back in 1994, I was 13 then. With my dad & my cousins & uncles. Phillies vs Astros. I think my dad won some tickets from a Phillies trivia off a radio show. The phanatic rode right behind us on his 4-wheeler in the 7th inning stretch. Right when the game was over, as we walked out to the cars, someone gave my uncle like 20 FREE t-shirts & like 10 free hats!!!! NO LIE!!!!😳😲 we thought they were stolen. Lol idk how?🤔🤷🏻‍♂️ but we took advantage of it, took the shirts & hats & left & went home. 🙂🙂
I'll NEVER forget about that day.

That was a terrible idea. University City can barely handle a crowd of 8000 people at the Palestra for a big 5 game let alone a 50,000 seat stadium next to an under built overused Schuylkill expressway. Center City is the 3rd biggest downtown district in America after Manhatten and Chicago. Those cities don't have dow town stadiums either for a reason. Baltimore and Pittsburgh are much smaller so it's feasible there.
