I did this about 20 years ago with a kit that I stumbled upon while at Walmart one day-- At the time, my oldest son was about 10 and my youngest was about 2..... The “sculpture” of their clasped hands is one of my most treasured possessions..... My oldest is now 30 and is getting married next weekend...... My youngest is now 22 and will be serving as best man..... I recently purchased 2 new kits- One for an “update” with my two sons and another for my oldest son and his new wife..... I wish I could upload photos to share with everyone, these kits are priceless ❤️......

Hi, I recently tried a cast of my baby's hand but the fingertips were missing when I peeled back the alganate. Do you have any tips to prevent this when I try again? Many thanks.
When filling the dried alginate cast with molten hydrostone, make sure put alittle first, carry the container, turn it round and shske or hit the sides, so that the hydrostone goes to all tiny coners , and then fill now the remaining space with hydrostone after doing that

Can you use this to do one person as well
Yes you can use the Couple Casting Kit to cast your own hands too. Just choose the way you want to hold your hands together and then plunge them into the alginate. You might want to have someone else with you to mix the alginate and hold the bucket as you wiggle your hands free.
you can also use your other hand and pretend that you have a partner.

Could I pour aluminum in the cast and make a metal hand ?
No, sorry, that wouldn't work.
You could make a mold of the plaster casting and then fill that mold with wax and proceed to use the lost wax casting method to create a mold out of investment and there ya go a mold for metal

You didn't tell us how much water you measured that's the biggest question when doing this because the directions say to use 2.9 cups and not many people know what the .9 means. So for thoes who want to know how much water you need for the stone powder you need 2 and 1/3 cups!!! your welcome guys
No. 2 cups and 1/3 is 2.33
They ask you to use 2.9
If you can't divide a cup of liquid into tenths and then multiply by nine, you are a fool.
This kit assumes that you can use *very basic maths*

That wasn't one of our kits! Ours aren't made in China and come with fully illustrated instructions booklets.

No, she put her hand in plaster of paris. This is alginate which is completely skin safe.
