- Loved doing this version of Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd, really pushed me outside my box to really focus on melody and feeling. What do you think?

A 50 year Pink Floyd fan here, I’ve listened to Comfortably numb thousands of times thru the years. I’ve heard many play this song and this is by far the best rendition of a musical masterpiece I’ve had the pleasure of listening to! Love love love this!, 👍👍
This is the song my grandpa asked us to play at his funeral last year. We blasted it as loud as possible, rolling up to the cemetary.
A fine attribute to the man.
What a remarkable final wish. 👏
Hats off to your old man🤘
O M G, your grandpa...he da man!!!!
❤
WOW. I'm 60 and I've been listening to COMFORTABLY NUMB ever since I was, I think, 12 years old. I never thought anyone else could come close to Gilmour's version, but, Sophie, you do a damn fine job. It's amazing watching your fingers move so "easily" (to my eyes) all over the neck of that guitar. Always wanted to play, but never had what YOU have---a natural inborn ability. Great job on this song!!
That was the single best take on comfortably numb I have ever heard and I have heard so many. Sophie is a legit musician prodigy.
Look up Andrey Korolev
Well, I do like the original better ;-)
My goodness girl!!!! I'm 70 yrs young and thats the best version of that song I've ever heard.Smooth and precise, with alittle of your own flair!! Job well done!!
This woman’s guitar playing is on a higher plane of existence. I’m 71 and she is utterly incredible! 😊
If you want to see another level, look up Tina S
I'm 72 and it blows me away as well...man, I wish I was stoned right now.
if you were born in 53 you cant be 71
I was signed onto CZcams by a friend, who unfortunately, got my year of birth wrong. I was born in 1951, and I turned 71 in May… and I adore this lady. Peaceful Pathways! 😊
Hey guys, it doesn’t matter if you two are questioning the age of one of you! I’m 67 (born 1955, lol 😂), and was a classical pianist and organist since I was 5. BUT - great music has NO age! I can appreciate talent when I see/hear it, regardless of what instrument it’s played on, and Sophie is extremely good, and a stellar guitarist 🤩 imo! 👍 🎸
Been a Pink Floyd fan for over 50 years. Bloody OUTSTANDING Sophie. 👍😁

Ain't it the truth...
I'm 67yo now, and been listening and tryin to play since the 60s. From the first time I heard Pink Floyd, not even knowing at the time who they were, and well before The Wall, they were a fav. I was stationed on Guam when The Wall came out. I woke up about mid morning one day thinking the roomie must've gotten new speakers, and cranking PF, only to discover Andersen AFB B-52s had gone on alert, and we're taking off, one after another, sounding like they were nearly over the apt we lived in, which was just a few miles from Dededo.
With the Tinian Gold from the night before still lingering, it was an exhilarating experience. Needless to say, afterwards, we had to put the album on the turntable and enjoy it from the Cerwin Vega's and AR's.
Tks for bringing back a memory.
I'm trying to visualise the sight and sound of a B52 taking off as a background to Pink Floyd. I think it's causing a flashback! Peak experience. @@WaterburnerActual
This is absolutely mesmerizing. I was 8 years old when I was introduced to this album and song. David Gilmour’s voice and the first solo was the pinnacle moment that forged my love of music. Over the decades, through the travail of suffering and laughter, this song has been at my core. You have taken a piece of indescribable art and meaning and elevated in a manner I did not think was possible.
Thank you
As a hardcore Pink Floyd fan, I'm speechless... Kudos and respect, that was absolutely flawless.
Agree
Good to hear so many covering music from 60's and 70's rock legends like Pink Floyd. This one in particular is really good 👍
Totally agree, my cover band: My GenX plays all of the goodies from my childhood - Floyd included
Agree
Deserves more than one like 👍👍
I lost my fiancé who was battling cancer, I was scrolling through some music and holly behold I came Accross this awesome gifted beautiful person that can play the heck out of this song, I closed my eyes and let my mind drift away and was at peace knowing she is in heaven looking down and enjoying this beautiful piece that Sophie Lloyd is performing, just wow, wow, wow.
Hold on Man! Sorry for your loss
Sorry for your loss brother
Lovely to hear the comfort you got from this 🙏
I've known this solo since "The Wall" was released almost 44 years ago.
I've heard everybody, their mum, and myself, play it..
This is the best cover-version ever.
Who would have thunk a shredder could nail that Gilmour-feel??
Absolutely ridiculously good guitar-playing!!
It's good, but you clearly haven't heard Bumblefoot's live version with Sons Of Apollo 🤟
I still can't get over the awesome finish on the Kiesel!
You rocked it once again as usual. The hard part is to realize what makes Gilmour so good is that he plays less notes, but the right ones.
For those of us old enough seeing them live was a pinnacle experience.
Yep. "Momentary Lapse of Reason" tour.
The Animals tour at MSG!
Division Bell tour here. No concert since has come close to this experience!
@@turdferguson8095 I absolutely agree!!! Neither for me and I've been to hundreds of concerts in my life... 😉
I saw the Division Bell tour. Outstanding, they were so tight you would think someone put on a cd and they were miming. Gilmour is so smooth, one of my fav guitarists. You played it very well Sophie
Sophie Lloyd playing Pink Floyd doesn't get any better than this!👍👍👍
Yes she is definitely Pink Lloyd. 🤣
Tina S can put her to shame with clothes on🤡😂🤣
TINA S is better and Pink Floyd tweet felicitations !
I ca t seem to get enough of Sophie's version of Pink Floyd's Comfortabley Numb...Just Incredible. WOW!!
After that execution i want someone to come forward claiming that (this is a man's world). Sophie you are Amazing 👏. WOW. Only Respect for you ❤
Nice, smooth presentation on that piece Sophie, not overdone with distortion, very tasteful. I think David is pleased if he's heard it

I've heard hundreds of versions of this classic and none have matched Gilmour's fluid and seamless transition between notes. Until now, that is. You know what this song is all about. Just superb. Thank you.
All I can say is wow, but I'm that old. This young lady is amazing, I only knew one other person that could feel music like that. Back when that album came out. But the whole family was musicians in there church. I will be sharing this to everyone. push this channel to a million
Check out Jeff Beck live at Ronnie Scott.
I’ve seen so many guitarists try to play this, some with too much of their own flair, some struggling just to try and imitate Gilmour, but I have never had someone’s rendition hit me emotionally. That was absolutely the best rendition (with feeling) I have ever heard - outside of being at the Wall concert in 1979 (oops just gave away my age) AWESOME!
MAN she can seriously ROCK!! and so easy on the eyes its ridiculous, Sophie is a die hard rockers dream! ROCK ON GIRL! 🤘🤘
3:10...that transition to solo was incredible! That is pure TALENT!
Always felt there was a great, subtle relationship between Gilmour's voice and his guitar. Here you make the guitar sing in its own way, and I really appreciate it! Shine on.
Omg.... I've heard a lot of people try to do this, but doing it with your own niche and still make it sound like the studio recorded version!!!!! How impressive 👏
This absolutely proves that there is way more power and emotion through an amazing song with fewer notes and NOT shredding it to pieces.. ..thank you for not murdering a masterpiece....fantastic rendition.
Thanks so much!
Watching ur emotion made me fall in love. U play just like i do, but better..lol

Simply Fantastic rendention of Pink Floyd's classic!
Sophie gets my vote as the best. She has amazing speed, but what makes her stand out is her sophisticated additions to the songs as well as her clarity. The absolute best.
I expected to hate this but instead was blown away at how well she captured the emotion of the original while making it her own. Cool guitar too.
yes it was awesome how she stayed true to the original while still making it her own. I think you need to address why you expected to hate it though
My name in lalboi
@@DaveWhoa I don't think I need to, but sure, why not: To me most "shredding" doesn't sound musical, more like listening to someone doing scale exercises as fast as they can. There are exceptions, but I haven't found that many. (Randy Rhodes comes to mind.)
Thanks so much!
Just can't stop listen to this again and again...somebody HELP ME!!! And watch the video too, of course. Simply beautiful guitar woman!!!
I love the way you emote. The power you possess,...give a whole new mean meaning to Guitar Licks
Miss Sofie, your left-hand skills afford the right to produce brilliantly harmonious tones. Incredible 👏
She was taught very well. Good success in your life young lady!
I am 66 years old and don't give much for younger rockers but you Sophie are a knockout guitarist and my faith in passing the magical vibes on is restored hearing you perform! A sweeter sight to see than David Gilmour too! haha
Creep
Great performance. True rockstar! It’s more about the music and age , looks or gender have nothing to with it. Sophie is pure talent and it shows. She’s on my radar for local performances. I believe she should make an appearance with David or Roger on tour because the fans could appreciate a different take on a legendary song/band. AND the fans can sing the vocals! Thank you Sophie❤
@@BEEFSERPENT you’re one of those spotty teenagers that has nothing better to do.
This song played by you is for me your masterpiece 😊❤ !!! It goes straight into my heart . It's only wonderful

If I have a funeral, this will definitely be played. I love this song. I love the words. But this played by you, gives me bigger goosebumps than normal.
I absolutely love how she pays tribute to the epic solos created by every band she covers. Shows true respect and love of music. Incredible guitarist 🎸 👏
Played with more soul than I would have expected how most shredders would have played it. Very nice job. 🔥
I agree and she kept it simple where totally necessary

Girl, I came across your channel by chance and fell in love with this piece. I don't know what you're thinking about when you strum those strings. I am in heaven, somewhere high above the mountains. These sounds take my breath away every time :-). Thank you so much for this. I can feel your soul in it.
OMG, unreal, the performance and tone are completely mesmerizing, absolute perfection! Tone city😀🫶
That was outstanding Sophie, so much emotion in your playing. The thing with any musical technique is not to overdo it and the amount of shred that you played was just about right. Your focus on melody and feeling was perfect. Superb in every way.
its called pure passion
Thanks so much!
Yes! David Gilmour's solo on Comfortably Numb is my all-time favorite. I was a bit nervous about this one, but you knocked it out of the park Sophie! Brought the right amount of your own guitar style to an absolute classic. What a great choice and nice change of pace from your other shred version covers.
First time I've seen someone get the tempo right. Everyone always plays it to fast.
David Gilmour don't have shit on Sophie. She'll smoke him on guitar.
Great sound! Unreal chops!
Looks like you've been playing-in-your-sleep since you were 3 yrs old! Your hard work is evident!
@@matthewlee2686 lol. I mean he only wrote the song she's covering. Been mad famous playing music longer than she's been alive. Yea he ain't got shit on this girl 🤣 🙄
@@charlesbowers1749 yep exactly
This reminds me of the first time's I heard Pink Floyd (around 1984), or Yngwie Malmsteen (around 1986-7). You just get flooded away with a tsunami of emotion as you get swept by the musical genius, the fidelity, the effortless licks, chorus and sounds.. Just on a whole other level. I loved this rendition of a great musical classic. Just amazing. Thank you for recording and sharing. I could hear your "influence," without it detracting/distracting from the genius of the original.
I could feel the skill and effortless licks you COULD throw in, but didn't. It's sorta like driving a 800 HP Corvette around downtown city streets... you can shred the tires at any point, but there's a maturity (self-restraint?) that comes with confidence, skill and experience in being judicious with the capabilities you possess... hopefully that analogy makes sense.
You can see her feel the music! It's in her soul!
If someone had told me I was listening to Vai doing this, I'd believe them. Fantastic performance, amazingly melodic.
Absolutely beautiful version. As a die-hard Pink Floyd lover from way back ... Sophie you did that song the best I have ever heard. You've been a fan of mine for years and this 70 yr old man loves what you do. Thank you for sharing this with me. Blessings and much respect for you and your journey.
I agree with you a million percent, me at 65 thanks for brilliant words , she does do it in a beautiful way for sure
Just. WOW. That is one of my all-time favorite songs and my all-time favorite guitar solo ever and you just absolutely took it to another level. Wow.
I come back to this cover many times...there is just something about the way Sophie shreds this out that virtually gives me goosebumps...she is one AWESOME artist
My favorite cover from you so far. Well....Beside Bohemian Rhapsody. Serious chills. Just the right amount of notes to put your touch on it. As a huge fan of David, I think he would be very proud. Gonna listen to it again right now. THANK YOU!!!
I love this woman. She play the guitar like an angel
Such an amazing feel for Comfortably Numb and absolutely blown away by this superb rendition!
I listened to this on another video comparing Sophie to larissa. You are special sophie. Here is my comment from that video.
I am a huge Gilmore purist. So I don't typically like when something is different. After seeing this I can see the error of my thinking a bit clearer. I have to say Sophie gets my vote, Larissa is pretty spot on. But here's my point. As a guitar player for 25 years myself, I can say anyone can "imitate" a song with enough practice and get it pretty close to the original. The original that someone else wrote. But to have the talent level of Sophie and put that melodic solo around the original is a special gift. I appreciate them both, Sophie is a fierce talent! I could listen to her creativeness all day.
Bravo! Amazing! Especially solo. Played with soul. I have no words to describe this...fantastic. Отличное исполнение! Звучит свежо, по-новому и, главное, с душой!Очень классно сыграно соло.
Thank you!!
Исполнительница в полном экстазе от игры на инструменте . Браво !!!!! 😉

Sophie, this is the best solo I’ve heard from you yet. It really showcases your talent. Bravo!
Wow. Sophie, I beg you to keep moving your unreal skills in this direction. This is the most moving rendition of Comfortably Numb I’ve ever heard.
Oh my god, this is so perfect! That emotion flowing through is so fluid and real. This gets the Gilmour seal of approval.
True.
The true definition of 'watching' music.
That was great. It wasn't taken apart from the original and the light touch on the shred allowed the song to remain what it is supposed to be. WELL DONE!!!
Thank you!
What a fantastic shred version! Should have 65M views at least. And her gaze at 2:29 almost made me faint ..
That was really well done. Everything fit perfectly and she kept it melodic. Her playing and mine are very similar, different, but very similar. I like her playing style more than mine though. She might say the same about me, because we are just a bit different. I could tell just by this one video that she and I could jam together and it would sound great. Not many things in my 58 years of life have given me as much joy as playing guitar.
Unlike anything else in life, music pays you back exactly what you paid into it. Relationships don't, sports don't, careers don't, but music does.

I clicked on the video when it popped up (I am subscribed) and as soon as it started I stopped everything else I was doing to watch it all the way through. I love this song, have for a long time, it moves my spirit. Your playing it also moved me. Rock is in great hands and that makes me glad. Somewhere I imagine David Gilmour has heard/watched it too and sat with a broad smile on his face. Well done, Sophie, well done indeed.
I am fascinated to the last bit. Such a harmony between a player and her instrument is breath taking. When there is a musical feeling at its peak then that was it.
Wow, super impressive. You've managed to use the essence of Gilmour's style while adding your own character and blend the two beautifully. I really liked the way you alternated slides and bends and used each at just the right time - fantastic performance! Probably the best I've seen from you so far.
Absolutely the best rendition of Comfortably Numb ANYONE has ever performed. How do you do this? Skill!!!!!

I was just listening to PINK FLOYD in collaboration with a Ukrainian singer that is phenomenal 🤘 This performance needs to be seen by David Gilmour!!!!!!! Spectacular as always Sophie ✨️ 👌 ❤️
I'll take that a step further Mark, to see sophie duet with David would be phenomenal
Gilmour must get this talent on stage. She could match anyone.
Sophie is a Superstar in the making.
I gotta start by saying this. At 16 I heard this for one of the very first times. Echoing through the mountains on KMET radio from prolly 50 cars playing ta blow up! It changed my life. Nobody could ever match that deep flood of emotions David opened my eyes to save Jesus. I like what was done here. Some of the licks are very nice. It doesn't carry the intensity and passion David brought to this piece of music. As good as SRV was, he prolly do it either. I play alot, alot like David. Yet I really don't play his songs outside of the chords so I can sing the song. I could yet don't copy his leads.I know that I could only get close to his licks. Yet never his intensity! Miles Davis used to give a Pastor of mine guitar lessons in Spokane years ago. Pastor asked him, can you play SRV? His answer is exactly what I mean above. He said, "Every lick, but I can't make it sound like him!" David is much easier to play than SRV yet can anyone really pull off David's intensity? Not today. Bret Kingman could prolly come closest. Tina S does a fine very close to true version of this score. Yet just not really enough. David's style to master would take many years not major skills. Great twist on one of the greatest scores ever!
Oh my god...I've been wishing for years that she would play this, and it's everything I imagined. Fantastic work Sophie!
Sophie is the world's greatest guitar player.never a mistake

My wife and myself love pink floyd! She passed 3 years ago! Thank you so much and you are so awesome! ❤❤
I only found Sophie recently. Let me put it to you this way: when her music is playing, whether I'm watching or not, my ears get happy. They tell my brain and it gets happy. Lather, rinse, repeat. So it generally stays happy until the music stops (and I find that all the damned chairs are gone). ;-)
Damn. This solo has feel and emotion pouring off it. Absolutely killer.

I play this over & over & each time I am carried away! Tears start with the emotions you create, just can't get enough. Thank You. YOU THE BEST!
Absolutely brilliant my favourite pink Floyd song
All I can say is WOW!! Just put on my headphones, turn the volume knob all the way up, lean back in my chair, close my eyes, and her performance just takes me away.
The personal touch you put on these "Shred versions" are AWESOME! As a drummer, and aspiring guitar player, I find myself drumming to songs and adding here and there, yet still giving respect to the original artist. Same with you, just a great sound!
