  • Fiddlin' Around is Johnny Gimble's masterpiece of invention. In this fiddle lesson I go phrase by phrase through the tune, suggesting fingerings for all the difficult double stops. I use on-screen sheet music throughout.

Thanks, Chris! What a challenging tune it is
because an experienced jazz violinist and educator like you
is annoyed with all these weird 3rd double stops! I love your
    short ending solo.

Chris thanks for tackling this tune. It is reassuring to hear your comments regarding its difficulty. I learnt a simple version years ago and as my skills and ear improved I kept getting closer to the true tune . The thirds are murder as is the diminished run but onward and upward before my fingers give out . i am re-inspired by you.

Playing the whole tone scale at the end makes the 'pending' 3 months work worth while :). A beautiful piece of work with excellent close-up edits. Complimenti !
