lol, I feel you 100%, This is def a hard to learn at first kinda tool, but ones you past through that learning curve and master it! You'll def find it worth it, DON'T GIVE UP!!!!
I’ve been using chopsticks since I was a kid, but no one ever taught me to use them. I hold my chopsticks basically this way, but resting on my middle finger instead of my ring finger. I mean, it works the same, just slightly different. Although, I don’t know if this would be considered a so faux pas not. Benefits to using chopsticks in America I suppose.
Oh yea! that's completely valid! It's more of a personal preference for sure, I hold my pen into the crook of my thumb too so that make sense I did that with chopsticks too. your finger might be even stronger then mine doing it like that! impressive!
That's was great...I learned it the hard way though.. she forget to mention to secure the food container, so In my case, just after 2nd attempt, I managed to tip the bowl on the floor. 😂😂 lucky I was in my hotel room, so nobody saw it. 😢😅😅
hahahaha! good point! that def happens way more then i though~ another skill to get is to pick up a beef ball and not shooting it to the other side of the restaurant (it happens to me many times as a child lol)
haha, there's no problem for that! I eat with my hands all the time~ and as long as you're not super into Asian cuisine, chopsticks are not a accentual tool in western dining~ If you'd like to learn more about these tableware especially about chopsticks , Here's a brand new video I made this week that talks all about it! czcams.com/video/niGiiOgtxXE/video.htmlsi=WptT_-9mak4x9RG9
that's impressive actually! good for you! When it comes to slippery noodle, you can get those chopsticks with the gride that will keep it from slipping off the chopsticks, and you can also work on the angle to make the noodles 90 degree against the chopsticks and gravity will help you hook it up, lmk how it goes~
when I saw your video I learn very easily and you are very good and nice person .....i don't know that you love Indian but I really like your style hey I am sneha from india
Hi Snaha! nice to have you as a fan, I appreciates you~ I'm semi-familiar to Indian food but not too much of an expert but I definitely enjoys Indian cuisine~ what is your favorite Indian cuisine? share with us!
My chopsticks are fixed😢. Can u pls do a vid with the problems people might face when trying to hold chopsticks😅? And in the vid could you show more ways to hold and if there are no more ways, pls in the vid could u do it more securely😅😅😊😊
hum, very interesting, that's a good idea! tho I have to do some research among people that doesn't use chopsticks, there's one step in this video where you can secure one chopstick real well and move one only, at the end of the day as long as you can pick up your food you're good, and the rest us just practice and muscle memory~ lmk how it goes!
ahh I know its hard... you just need to know how to move the tip of index and middle so you can pick up food, it's going to take a bit of practice no doubt but I believe in you!
“It doesn’t matter how you hold your chopsticks” It really shouldn’t but my partner is Chinese, and despite how wrong it sounds, there are a lot of her family’s side that judge you for the most minuscule of things such as this…. So I have to learn certain ways of holding!!
Oh no... I'm so sorry... that sounds soo stressful.. they should understand that it's not your culture and appreciate that you're even trying, cuz I know a lot of people won't even give it a try. so just so you know, that I'm proud of you! Most of these judgemental behaviors came from insecurity and ignorance, I hope at least your partner is on your side cuz I know sometimes Chinese family culture can be a bit intense
@@ericayeahtw My partner says the same things you say - it doesn’t matter. A comment I received for the way I hold my chopsticks was “This is how a rich person holds their chopsticks” as I was pointed at in front of multiple members of the family, some people laughed and some people looked awkwardly at each other and then at me. The vibe became uncomfortable after that remark but whatever, the night continues. Sticks and stones, right…?
Hey for sure that works, and in some Omakase they do actually recommend you eat it that way, tho I'm not doing it in public in the US cuz ppl might think you're crazy lol~
If that's your believe, it will be true to you, just think about the 1/3 population in the world can do it, you can too, it's all about muscle memories, just like going to the gym. you've got this
now base on my late reply, its been a month, does it work now? or did you gave up? This is a skill that takes muscle memories and practice, just like going to the gym, you've got this if you don't give up~
the thumb need to be a bit banded too, lmk if it works BTW, Here's a full video on Chopsticks explaining, check it out if you're interested! I promise you'll learn smth new today czcams.com/video/niGiiOgtxXE/video.htmlsi=WptT_-9mak4x9RG9 thanks for watching~
Great question! and here's what I think first of all, it is ok to hold on to any part of the chopsticks with your hand, everyone have their own preference, and we actually have a myth that says the further away you hold your chopsticks from the tip, the further away you're going to be married to... I hold pretty far away from the tip in that video, and I'm married to the other side of the world lmao. guess the myth is real lol but back to your question, I need to know which finger of yours hurt? do you got long nails that's preventing you from holding it?
People do experience mild pain sometimes holding chopsticks, it can be the material of the chopsticks, the lack of strength in those finger muscles (since we barely hold anything else like that) I wonder if you feel similarly as when I have to write with a pan for more than 4 hours, the skin on the first joint of my middle finger starts to irritate me(cuz the pan rests on top of it when I write). Still, I never feel that when I was in school, so I believe it's a temporary irritation due to sensitive skin just because I don't use that part of my body like that enough anymore being 30 years old and I only text for almost everything for the past 8 years(extra strong tip of fingers lol). Hope it makes sense, but lmk if I misunderstand your question, please!
@@ericayeahtw i try to hold it as far from the tips as possible because i don't want to get dirty trying to pick the food. I will had some extenders to my chopsticks so i will be married for longer, they are going to be 50 cm long minimum hahah My middle finger hurts it i don't slide it down, and same for my ring finger. My chopsticks are the chinese ones iirc the name, squared at the top and progressively become round and they are in some metal (bought them in korea). I don't have long nails When i write for long i get a huge dent on my middle finger but no irritation or real pain. Meanwhile with the chopsticks i can feel the edge of it pressuring so much on that part. I heard other people saying that rookies get some pain but then goes away with time I also have some cramps, the muscle where my thumb connects to the hand hurts, and the one on the right side of the hand (right hand), below the pinky finger, hurts as well. But it looks like i found some adjustments that make the pain go away and the tips meet, but i don't have strength, and the chopstick slides off the ring finger quite often I can pick light objects quite easily, but when something is heavier the chopstick starts to slide
@@oj7177 oh yeah! So the ferther away you hold it the harder you need to pinch, just get closer it’s fine, and pick up less per time so you don’t dip in the finger
@@ericayeahtw I'm getting better at it, but still have some struggles in applying force without twisting the tip. If things are slippery or heavy, then i have to hold them in another way that's easier for me to apply pressure
I won't say the only correct way cuz really who's call is that? you know what i mean? I think as long as you can pick up anything, it's the correct way, but if they way you hold your chopsticks making it hard to pick up some types of food, then adjust it might upgrade your skill, would you agree?
thanks for watching here's a full video on Chopsticks explaining if you're interested! I promise you'll learn smth new today, and you'll get to brag that fact to your friends next time haha czcams.com/video/niGiiOgtxXE/video.htmlsi=WptT_-9mak4x9RG9 thanks for watching~
Oh indeed as long as you can pick things up it's fine~ we can totally agree on that, and different culture might have different way of using chopsticks no doubt, but I'm curious of what you consider the "correct way "can you share a video link with me so I can see what you mean? and where is this 30-50% number comes from I can't find it anywhere? I'd like to learn from you if you'd like to share?

I actually use the tip of my ring finger as if im holding down a guitar string, and i dont bury them into the crook of my thumb.
Oh yea! that's completely valid! It's more of a personal preference for sure, I hold my pen into the crook of my thumb too so that make sense I did that with chopsticks too. your finger might be even stronger then mine doing it like that! impressive!
My friend is Chinese, so I always use chopsticks. Also, she taught me how to use them.😂
Hey i'm glad you god a personal teacher that's even better! thanks for watching
Ive been trying the last few days!!!
Hey practice make perfect!!! You’ve got this! I believe in you!
It isn't hard tho
I still haven't mastered 😕

Finally learnt how to use chopsticks
Hey, it's never too late! lmk how it goes~
For some reason the top chopsticks isnt alligned with the bottom one even if i adjust it
@ericayeahtw send me a video on how you use it on IG, let me check what the issue
That's was great...I learned it the hard way though.. she forget to mention to secure the food container, so In my case, just after 2nd attempt, I managed to tip the bowl on the floor. 😂😂 lucky I was in my hotel room, so nobody saw it. 😢😅😅
hahahaha! good point! that def happens way more then i though~
another skill to get is to pick up a beef ball and not shooting it to the other side of the restaurant (it happens to me many times as a child lol)
I think you look beautiful 😍

Yea~ I'm glad it helps! thanks for watching!
I'll stick with knife, fork and my hands... I tried many times to use chopsticks, I just dont have the motorskills to do it :c
haha, there's no problem for that! I eat with my hands all the time~ and as long as you're not super into Asian cuisine, chopsticks are not a accentual tool in western dining~
If you'd like to learn more about these tableware especially about chopsticks , Here's a brand new video I made this week that talks all about it!

Here’s a perfect short for you
Thank you
I'm already doing a pretty good job using chop sticks when eating sushi. Soup is still a problem...
that's impressive actually! good for you!
When it comes to slippery noodle, you can get those chopsticks with the gride that will keep it from slipping off the chopsticks, and you can also work on the angle to make the noodles 90 degree against the chopsticks and gravity will help you hook it up, lmk how it goes~
I've been trying
You've got this!!!!
Anicent chopstick law of 17348
aww~ what is that? 17348?
I use chopstick everyday at home until i got used to it, i couldnt have a meal without usinh chopstick 😅
It's such a hard tool to master in the beginning, but after you know how to use it, you look down on forks lol😝
when I saw your video I learn very easily and you are very good and nice person .....i don't know that you love Indian but I really like your style hey I am sneha from india
Hi Snaha! nice to have you as a fan, I appreciates you~

Will you say my name in your video.. Please I really like it if it is fine
Oh type of masala? Will have to try it someday~
One more thing, never use your chopsticks for stabbing your food. Because it's considered to be rude and is a display of poor table manners.
I have tried like fifty tutorials and it doesn’t work
It takes a while to master but keep practicing, and you'll get it eventually, it suppost to feel weird at first! You've got this!
@m ready to attend Chop Stick School😊
lol~ Best of luck ☺
My chopsticks are fixed😢. Can u pls do a vid with the problems people might face when trying to hold chopsticks😅? And in the vid could you show more ways to hold and if there are no more ways, pls in the vid could u do it more securely😅😅😊😊
hum, very interesting, that's a good idea! tho I have to do some research among people that doesn't use chopsticks, there's one step in this video where you can secure one chopstick real well and move one only, at the end of the day as long as you can pick up your food you're good, and the rest us just practice and muscle memory~ lmk how it goes!
I can grab it right but it doesn't move very well😢 ❤❤❤ and thanks for your really easy tip😊
Hey, that means you're at least 80% there, the strength will come overtime, it's like a mini finger workout, keep practicing! you've got this!
I can’t move both my index and middle finger without my ring finger moving too 😭
ahh I know its hard... you just need to know how to move the tip of index and middle so you can pick up food, it's going to take a bit of practice no doubt but I believe in you!
✌️✌️👍
you're right!
Chopstick✌ chopstick✌ good👍, haha
thanks for watching
“It doesn’t matter how you hold your chopsticks”
It really shouldn’t but my partner is Chinese, and despite how wrong it sounds, there are a lot of her family’s side that judge you for the most minuscule of things such as this….
Lol. You don't need a fork or chopsticks for sushi. I just use my hands
Hey for sure that works, and in some Omakase they do actually recommend you eat it that way, tho I'm not doing it in public in the US cuz ppl might think you're crazy lol~
@@ericayeahtw this is good info to know because I been worried about that when i visit Japan! I love learning about Japanese culture
It’s impossible i can’t learn it 😢😢
If that's your believe, it will be true to you, just think about the 1/3 population in the world can do it, you can too, it's all about muscle memories, just like going to the gym. you've got this
Have chopsticks at my desk for practice. Still can't do it.
now base on my late reply, its been a month, does it work now? or did you gave up? This is a skill that takes muscle memories and practice, just like going to the gym, you've got this if you don't give up~
It’s Only my thumb
the thumb need to be a bit banded too, lmk if it works

thanks for watching~
I wanna simp😭
Lol, I'm married.. sorry! thanks for watching and I hope you learn the skill too lol
I struggle with making the tips meet, and have to slide the fingers down because if the chopsticks go against the top part of my nail it hurts
Tips?
Great question! and here's what I think
first of all, it is ok to hold on to any part of the chopsticks with your hand, everyone have their own preference, and we actually have a myth that says the further away you hold your chopsticks from the tip, the further away you're going to be married to... I hold pretty far away from the tip in that video, and I'm married to the other side of the world lmao. guess the myth is real lol
but back to your question, I need to know which finger of yours hurt? do you got long nails that's preventing you from holding it?
People do experience mild pain sometimes holding chopsticks, it can be the material of the chopsticks, the lack of strength in those finger muscles (since we barely hold anything else like that)
I wonder if you feel similarly as when I have to write with a pan for more than 4 hours, the skin on the first joint of my middle finger starts to irritate me(cuz the pan rests on top of it when I write).
I will had some extenders to my chopsticks so i will be married for longer, they are going to be 50 cm long minimum hahah
My middle finger hurts it i don't slide it down, and same for my ring finger. My chopsticks are the chinese ones iirc the name, squared at the top and progressively become round and they are in some metal (bought them in korea). I don't have long nails
When i write for long i get a huge dent on my middle finger but no irritation or real pain. Meanwhile with the chopsticks i can feel the edge of it pressuring so much on that part. I heard other people saying that rookies get some pain but then goes away with time
I also have some cramps, the muscle where my thumb connects to the hand hurts, and the one on the right side of the hand (right hand), below the pinky finger, hurts as well.
But it looks like i found some adjustments that make the pain go away and the tips meet, but i don't have strength, and the chopstick slides off the ring finger quite often
I can pick light objects quite easily, but when something is heavier the chopstick starts to slide
I do in first try congratulations 🎉👏😊❤
Nice, you got talent then, all you need is more practice and you'll be a master in no time!
Thx you. I don't believe in myself 🤦🤦🤦
You’ve got this👌🏻
Is this the only correct way? So i've been doing it wrong the whole time😅😅🤣
I won't say the only correct way cuz really who's call is that? you know what i mean? I think as long as you can pick up anything, it's the correct way, but if they way you hold your chopsticks making it hard to pick up some types of food, then adjust it might upgrade your skill, would you agree?
CZcams are so pretty
lol thank you~ don't forget to subscribe:)
I am not able to hold the first chopstick
just simply pinch it down with your thumb and keep it in place, that should be the easiest part of the process 😳
No, I don’t know how Chinese people hold chopsticks😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
haha, that's the point of the video man! hope you get that😂🙌😉

Forks do jus fine hon
How you fork your sushi? Maybe you should make a short for me😂
mine keep crossing
see if you can get a better grip by holding a bit closer to the tip(where you pick up food)? The further you hold, the harder to use.
I don't know but why my chopsticks 🥢 lower is not joining each other
It takes time to master it, the muscle needs practice to get it’s strength
@@ericayeahtw thanks now I understand and I learnt it how to use right now I am eating noodles with them 👍thanks bro 😁 wanna be frnds
Thank you very muchly! 😊 I watched this with a bowl of beef noodles and managed to finish the whole thing, so happy your video worked ☺️🙏💜
Yeeaaahhh! fast learner over here, Soo glad it helps~
the way u used chopsticks still wrong but 30-50% people also using wrong way too anyway. As long as u can pick up food then it is fine.
