Any lift is better than no lift. The only thing I don't like about that style lift is the cables and hydraulic line running across the floor, it becomes a pain in the ass when your trying to pull out a transmission.

Love your video presentation .your amazing array of equipment is sadly lacking . My hydraulic engine hoist had to double up as a forklift . my aluminium ladders sections were performing the safe ish erection of the posts .my new concrete slab had not been bull floated and the surface although level was all bubbly and uneven . My first attempt to bed the post was not perfect although vertical in both directions .Maybe I should have used a bedding mixture of fine sand and cement . the industrial epoxy I used was not enough to cover the whole base plate . 79 years old and still learning new projects . I measured the baseplate positions and screwed two 1/2 inch thick x 4 inches wide ply strips in place to allow for accurate base plate positioning . I like your pilot hole drilling tip. this video is the bnest .. the twinbusch video is sadly not up to your hands on approach . stay safe Richard. in Alvito Portugal Sunday 21st April 2024.

Interesting to see the Defender caused the cables to be out of timing again. They stretch a bit over time, and the shuttles need re-adjusting into timing. Also, the deflection of the motor column was about 1-2cm at the top. Retorquing/checking the column nuts over a few months also.
i installed a 5ton unit in my shop last year, and that thing has paid for yourself and then some. You can fix cars, manure spreaders, lawnmowers, very handy tool to have especially for fuel pumps and suspension work. you will love it. I wish i had your forklift when I installed mine, it would have been a bit less scary :)

Thanks for the comments , that was because I had metal piece in the shaft ( at the top ) that was not bolded down and it was taken by the shuttle /cracked . That causes that shake. Solved
Nice work and timely as I'm pouring concrete for a new workshop floor this month. I'm sure you used the correct grade of threaded rod, but I would suggest anyone using rod to not use common thread. An alternative is Chemset Anchors.
you made my skin crawl when you ran your hand up an down the cable to grease it.. I know it's new and there should not be any frayed wire but OOOOHHHHH.

ThIs looks to be a very useful addition to your workshop, the only thing I would try to change is the cover for the hydraulic pipes which you have to avoid tripping over, surely this could be sunk into the floor. I think the only thing that will prevent most people buying one is the head height required, I am sure you will cover that aspect in a future video. Many thanks for posting this. Chris B.
Nice video as always! Maybe be aware that the CE certificate is not always a guarantee of safety but rather an indication. Te manufacturer decide for themselves if their product is CE rated according to the required specifications. So there is no external independent check to see if it really complies to all the specifications.
TXS for the comments, In this case the Certification was done in a UK lab according to different ISO standards, and I called up the test report and CE certificate. But yes you are right, for this lify they had to make several adaptations.

I just checked the comments and i cant find anybody else mentioning it, but it seems as though the shuttles had become out of synchronisation after the first few lifts, rocking the vehicle sideways and the locking mechanisms 'clicks' where well out of time... im sure your already aware and have probably fixed it already..cheers.
TXS for the comments, and indeed that was a two fold adjustement as this was a first lift. One was to increase to up time on the timer before the lift descends. Especially with heavy loads, it takes a bit more time to get it lifted before it unlocks. The second issue was air trapped in the far end cylinder, had to bleed it a bit. Now that is working smoothly..

Hi Steve. Nice job and realy clear explanation how to install this lift. I bought exactly the same lift (from exactly the same vendor), and followed your instructions very carefully. Everything went well except for the limiters. The top limiter needs some adjustment, but I can figure this out myself, so no problem there. The bottom limiter is supposed to be mounted completly horizontal, according to the predrilled mounting holes. In your instruction it is facing down. You drilled the bottom hole a little bigger so it would fit a facing down mount. But both options do not work for me, not horizontally, not facing down ! In both situations, the limiter is clicking way to early, and the lift stops at 30 cm from the ground. I think I have to modify the position and the way the limiter works. Or am I doing something wrong? Can you help me out on this one? Since I live in Belgium, you can also speak Dutch to me (I saw you Belgian license plate.. :-) Thanks.
Thanks for the comments, for the bottom limiter, you can place it horizontal.. The lift will stop when descending ( as soon as the sensor spring lead is pushed down)... Then you need to keep depress the park bottom and hold. The lift will go down. Try it out... That should work.... The alarm should also go off
Very nice! I should get one too. My problem is the roof clearance inside my garage. The roof is not hight enought for lifting cars all the wat up. I saw in some others videos about lifters, that some of them have adjustable arms (lenght/hight/angle) for different types of vehicle. By the way nice choiche with old rusty engine!

I'm surprised there isn't a set of safety lock position sensors. If one doesn't release and you continue to lower it without checking or paying attention you could drop your vehicle off the lift. The completely manual systems could have similar issue but the opportunity to make it more foolproof with electronics was missed by the manufacturer.
There‘s nothing better then a well equippet workshop, well done!

After years laying out steel structures and setting bolts in concrete..I used drill in place..on last one ..worked out perfect in far less time.

txs for the comments, I did not needed shims as my floor is just flat. Some place them to make the colums lean outwards ( just a little). 10Kg torque

needed a few adjustments on the release timer and removed the air from the far end cylinder... this was a first lift. Wellspotted
